Having lived in New Mexico near the Texas border and also in South Texas I was looking forward to some good Tex/Mex but was greatly dissapointed. The food was bland to the point of flavorless with the exception of the canned ranchero sauce that had a very definite tin taste. When I asked if they had missed my tamale the waitress pointed it out on my plate, I said I was used to them being wrapped in corn she stated that they dont come that way. Apparently the kitchen has more microwaves than skillets. We had a total of 2 beers, 2 margaritas and 2 specials for a total of $70.00 with tip. Never again

The food here is good (not my meal, but my friends meal), but I have to give it two stars (for bad service) after my visit to the place. I ordered vegetarian enchiladas. The first time, they came with meat. The staff replaced it; the kitchen made an error again. The second dish had meat as well. The staff replaced it. The third time had meat as well. Instead of trying to (finally) get it right, the staff told us that they would not be able to guarantee a meatless dish, and that if that is what we wanted it would be better if we went elsewhere. We did.

Thos place is crazy expensive and the food is deffinetly NOT AUTHENTIC... There was 9 of us and we each ordered different things and literally nothing was good nor was worth the money... The place stinks like mold... The server was very behind... Not to mention we were the ONLY Table there... Waited 30 mins to take order and like 1 hr to get food... No extra chips nor salsa... No refill untill he wanted... Do NOT recommend!!!

Went here for lunch and had a great experience. Our server, Arturo, was very friendly and recommended the steak fajitas. I had those and my boyfriend ordered the flautas- both were amazing! You can tell the food is fresh. Both the food and the service was really good- I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. We will definitely be back here to eat some time in the near future.

Way too overpriced for what they offer. We stopped in for a quick bite since Tacos El Norte was closed due to a large party. Slow service and extremely small portions for the price. $9 for 2 small steal tacos with poor quality meat was unacceptable. Taco bell is more authentic...

Having grown up in Texas, I have had my share of Mexican or Tex/Mex food. El Barrio is still at the top of the list!! The cheese enchiladas, with American cheese, are the BEST anywhere!! Staff is always friendly and service is great.
