Dont go here unless you are craving eastern european food. If its your first time, go somewhere else. The place is set up for people in the know. If you speak Russian or Ukie, great! If not, it may be tough to navigate. I was born in the U.S. but eastern european by blood and culture. I dont speak Russian or Ukrainian but I love liver and onions. I love borscht. Half the stuff in there(cucumber salad) was home-cooked stuff I grew up with and the rest was probably more local Ukrainian fare. Service is different from what you are used to. Dont dare think you will be finicky and running the show. The server is the host and you are a guest. Its a different dynamic. In some ways its more intimate. Act as if you are a guest in someones home. The food is just home-cooked unique goodness that somehow gets lost in the fine culinary world no matter how much they try to keep it on life support and serve it as gospel. They wind up airbrushing out all the flaws which is about as effective as rewriting a Tolstoy novel using conventional writing canons Drink a damn beer with your meal, too. I dont care if youre 12(JK). If you cant choke down a beer, simply dont go there for lunch or dinner. Anyway, I think you get the idea.

I stopped there last Sunday to get a carry-out. I saw the following prices: Buffet - $10 on weekdays, and $11 on weekends, or $4.25 per lb. Vareniki (not on the buffet)- $5 a dozen, Soup - $2.50. Very reasonable! However, you have to pay cash. Buffet offers soup and deserts, but the selection of main dishes is small - about only 3 meat dishes. However, the stuff is tasty. They had cheese blintzes, golubtzy (cabbage wraps), borscht (without meat, but I liked it with sour cream), and apple pie with a really tasty dough. I also saw Slavutich and Lviv brands beer on display, but I dont know if they have it chilled. The two middle-aged ladies spoke Ukrainian to me after hearing my accent, but they were not unhappy with my Russian and were very friendly. (Actually, I found 14 varenik pieces in my carry-out instead of 12.) There was also a young guy speaking perfect English. They offer catering, BTW.

I had plans to meet someone at the Village cafe (which is now closed by the way) so we found this place. It is just so charming and authentic and wonderful. They have a buffet and it is like eating at your grandmas house. The lady asked if I wanted soup and I said no and she looked at me like I was on crack. My associate got the chicken noodle soup and of course as soon as it came I was like oh ok now I understand why you gave me that look and got one myself. With all due respect to both my grandmamas this may have been the best chicken noodle soup Ive ever had. Overall, an absolutely phenomenal place for an inexpensive lunch in Ukrainian village.

I lived in various cities across Ukraine for 2 years and got very, very fat off the amazing food. This place is the real deal. You are welcomed with a traditional lack of hospitality and then allowed to pick a table, at which point shell ask you what kind of soup you want. This is where you say borscht. If its Wed. or Friday you can say green borscht, but skip anything else cause the borscht is legit! Then go grab a plate or two and LOAD UP! The blinchiki were delicious. The rice was fab. The kutleti was awesome...shall I continue or are you just going to go eat there? You wont regret it. Warm, fresh and delicious. I was not let down.

The food here is amazing. We loved everything at the buffet and wanted seconds, but couldnt fit it all in our stomachs! Buffets are cheaply priced at 10$. When we walked in, there was an open table, but were told to wait for 15-20 minutes. There are only 4 tables in this place. Finally after we were seated, we had to wait an additional 20-30 minutes to get water. Then we were allowed to go to the buffet and dig in. When we were billed, we were charged 11$ for our buffets, 1$ more than the cost. We figure this is to self-pad for the horrible service we received. We left a bad tip consequently.

WHERE DO I BEGIN?! This place is ABSOLUTELY wonderful!! I went here for my one year anniversary because Im on a budget (all you can eat buffet is 10$ on the week days and 11$ on weekends), and I was certainly not disappointed. Make sure to try all of their dishes (I wish I could name my favourites, but there werent any labels on anything, and the people who own the place dont speak English horribly well). At any rate, DO IT!

This is authentic home cooked Ukrainian food (and great beer if you do that), super friendly staff. They helped my vegetarian girlfriend and me find our way through a wide and rich selection. The serving size affordable, endless, and rich!

Mainly a small buffet is offered in this 6 table quaint establishment. Friendly service and reasonable prices. Food wasnt great and wasnt horrible. Look hard or youll walk right past it. A few menu items are also available.

The buffet line is pretty small, but the quantity of dishes is more than forgiven by the quality of food present. Wow. Everything was fantastic (Borscht included). Im kinda surprised the place wasnt crowded.

Weird, waited 10 minutes before even recognizing guests: seated at dirty uncleared table. no smiles, food looked dry on a little warming table. left after 20. minutes with out service.

Used to be the only Ukrainian food place, and it wasnt worth bringing friends to because of how it looked. Its more of a local go to place than a cozy hangout spot.

Great food, and a lovely atmosphere. Take the time to get to know the proprietors -- once they know you, they treat you like family. A great experience.
