* Notice how the owner or manager hasnt commented on my review.* The burger was edible (without any of the toppings) but not very good. Dry (asked for medium) and not sure it was even seasoned (salt/pepper).The burger toppings (they put them on the side of the plate) I was served were onion lettuce tomato and pickle. The tomato was the absolute ripest (bordering rotten) tomato I have ever been served. Ever! It was so gross looking. The juice from this over ripe tomato leaked over and made the steak fries soggy. The slice of onion was an inch thick(literally). I wish I wouldve taken a picture of this plate. The pickle was room temp. The lettuce was drenched in nasty almost rotten tomato drippins. The waitress was polite and asked if everything was good, so I was honest. They took my burger off the check (which I told them was unnecessary) but I wont ever come back. Oh and when we were seated they took us to a small room that had around 10-12 tables and we were seated at a tiny table rite next to the only other people in there. WTF? Why would you think I want to sit elbow to elbow with another table when the rest of the room was empty? Needless to say we didnt sit where she tried seating us. I dont have a single positive word to say about the food. Oh and $2.79 for a cup of soda. Food quality 1 star -Bang for your buck 1 star -outside restaurant appearance 5 stars - and majority elderly customers (nothing wrong with elderly people just pointing it out). We will never return. Oh almost forgot. The other table which was elderly people complained about their food as well and ended up having items removed from the bill too. I swear to god. I bet that happens dozens of times each day.

I am dragged to Country House a lot by my work for lunch meetings, and I am thankful that I dont have to pay. I feel that the prices are a bit high for the quality (or lack at times) of the food and portions. The food is very hit or miss in my opinion, but they are fine with substitutions and changes. They claim to have the best burgers around... and Id question that. The burgers are okay, but not the best. Three of us had the buffalo burger once and we all got sick. I also am not a fan of the cole slaw, half the time it comes out warm. I do like the free popcorn and peanuts, just dont overload on it because there are a few things on the menu worth getting. The turkey sandwiches are killer (look for the one with the pretzel roll), and the muffellata is very tasty if you like spicy food. My co worker always gets the salmon sandwich although Ive never eaten it. They also have probably hands down the best spinach salad in the area. Get it with the warm bacon dressing.. its to die for.

This has become one of my go-to restaurants. I used to live over by the Clarendon Hills location, but recently moved closer to this location and decided to give it a try. The food is always great, and the staff are always friendly. Only downside (which isnt even really a downside) is that on the weekends, its very busy and there is often a long wait. If you come during the middle of the week, getting seated is no problem. I prefer to dine in the dining room rather the bar, as the noise level is quieter. I also enjoy the fact that this location is considerably larger.

Attended a family party here and ordered the Pretzel Crusted Walleye as my entree. The fish well well cooked and a very generous portion size. However, the menu described the item as a boneless fillet and yet I had over a dozen pin bones in it. Brought this to our waitresses attention and she told me how it is a fish and they have bones and she saw a gentleman putting all his bones in a little sauce bowl. So apparently they know it is not boneless and just like to surprise people with the pin bones and hope they dont get sent to the hospital.

They are known for their hamburgers and they really are very good. I got the 3 sliders. The sliders were really a good size as far as the hamburger part actually was bigger than the bun. There are many choices for a side to your burger or sandwich such as onion rings, cole slaw, fresh fruit, vegetables. Service was good. I thought the tables in the dining room were really close too close together. I think I would feel clostrophobic if the place was crowded. I look forward to warm weather when I can be seated on the outdoor deck.

What they serve here should not even be considered food. I have eaten at restaurants all over the country and the world. Some expensive some budget. I would not eat this again if if it was free. I had a pork sandwich and am now on day two of a stomach ache. My granddaughter had mac-an-chesse, it looked and tasted like the stuff that came out of a box in the 70s with the powdered cheese. Please, do not waste your time to money on this restaurant.

Very very very good. In the desolate suburbia, this Restaurant provides a nice island of great home cooking. My pork chops were so amazing that my plan to take one of them home for dinner did not work - I ate it all! All of my lunch mates plates looked just as delicious. The order came fast even in the middle of the busy lunch hour. The atmosphere is cost, if a little cramped. Our server was quick and accommodating. I cant wait to go back!

My boyfriend took me hete for my first time. He said it was one of his favorite places to eat. We both got the steak with mushrooms and blue cheese... I will let you know I HATE mushrooms and blue cheese... But this dish? Was SOOOOOO good. The steak was sooo juicy, the sauce with mushrooms paired perfectly with the blue cheese. May be one of the only ways i will eat mushrooms besides in spaghetti.

Didnt receive a warm welcoming from staff walking in felt very old Cabin esque. I dont think they serve too many Blacks in this place. However that is the last thing that Id be concerned about. The food was horrible. The Burger was cold along with twice cooked shrimp and onion rings. An over priced baked potato and Salad. $60 of nothing. My waitress was nice.

We are so fortunate to be right down the street from Country House-we have our favorites-food is great. Treated exceptionally! Employees go overboard to give excellent service! I especially appreciate Susan who takes my phone orders correctly and has them ready for pickup, even helps me take them out! She is great. Spare Wheels Transportation

Love the Country House, especially the duck tenders... and the chili... the pretzel crusted fish is awesome... and the fries... so much good stuff! We often go with friends since it is a nice atmosphere; not too noisy. And the servers are always friendly and helpful. Its a place thats easy to pass by the outside but go inside and its wonderful!

The Country House. Nice little rustic place to eat in Batavia, IL. Prices are a bit on the high side. But the food is very good, I especially love the pork chops. The Ostrich Burger is good as is the Bison Burger. I like it well enough to give it 4 stars though I come back to pricing, its just a bit on the high side for the experience.
