Stay away from this place. We took my mother there for lunch, we were seated at a booth. The waitress had a real attitude. We ordered, and it took almost 1 hour to get our food. when it came , it looked and tasted like high school cafeteria food. We only had silverware for 2 people. Tried 3 times to get the waitresss attention, finally had to get up and walk to another table to get some silverware. Of the 3 dishes, 2 were wrong. One I just let go, but the other was so bad that my wife could not eat it. When I finally got the waitress to come back to the table, I told her that they filled the meal with ranch dressing, and that my wife couldnt eat it. So she argues that it has to be blue cheese because that is what she wrote down. She wouldnt fix it or take it off the bill....the whole meal went in the garbage, and my wife had package of crackers for lunch....$12.00 for a package of crackers. Two wasted hours, bad food, dirtbag waitress, and got ripped off. Happy birthday mom!!!!! This place is the absolute worst-worst-restaurant in the state.

Would not recommend at all unless they change everything from their staff to their chef. My kids and I were really hungry and wanted to try a new place. The waitress we got was rude from the moment we sat down. She seemed bother when I asked where the drinks were located on the menu, and she told me she didnt know if it was on the menu but they have Pepsi products. (With an attitude) I exercise good manners especially in front of my children so I placed our drink order with some pleases and thank you so. She brought the drinks but didnt come back for about 10 mins to get our food order. She was impatient and rude when there was only two other tables in the entire restaurant. Now the food did not make the experience better, it had no flavor!!!!!! Worst food I have ever eaten at a restaurant. I couldnt finish my food and my kids who are easily pleased with chicken strips and Mac and cheese didnt want their food either. I will not be coming back. Such a disappointment, I hope they make some changes but I will not try them again.

I gotta say, I dont usually go to restaurants for breakfast because I almost never get the quality food or the customer service that I expect. But today that changed, I took my family out for breakfast here and as soon as we walked in we were greeted with smiles and an atmosphere that was very home like. Our waitress Lynn (sorry if I spelled it wrong) was very kind, personable and funny and checked on us just the right amount of times. The wait time for our food had to be less than 15 minutes during a time that seemed busy and the food was superb. (and coming from a picky eater that says something) It looked like it came out of a commercial. If youre a skillet lover, love breakfast or bacon then this is definitely the place for you. I will definitely return to elgin with my family to eat here again and recommend this wonderful place to everyone.

I had been going here for years especially for breakfast with my family for years so why say I hate this place? Well this Sunday night I went to buy some of their Irish stew to go with dinner it was 30 minutes before they closed and they only had one table (and waited for more than 5 minutes before placing because the man in front messed up their bills). I didnt know the Irish stew was sold as a dinner and asked can I just get it as a large soup and not get the side and salad, it probably came to about the same price. The older gray-haired man in front (not an owner) wouldnt sell it to me as I described I pointed out that they are going to close soon and probably throw the rest away well they really not sell it to me to which he repeated "no it is sold as a dinner not in different sizes" with an attitude so I left and will never go back.

If I could rate it 0 I would. First time eatting here.... I tried explaining to the manager that the fish I had ordered was either not cooked properly or just bad. It had a very foul taste. The jerk never even applogized at the resturant, just made us pay the whole bill and said maybe you dont like the way we cook it. Please dont insult me and tell me it was the way the fish was cooked, either the fish was bad or something that was cooked with the fish went bad. I could of had better fish at a fast food joint. This resturant is only a few minutes from me, but I will never come back again after this experience.

This was a horrible experience, I asked the server to put my food in first because my nice was undecided. I asked the waitress to put my food in more than once and she gave me a horrible attitude. I asked her where is my food and instead of apologizing, she was talking to me back. When I asked her to talk to the manager she told me to get up and talked to the manager. She never said sorry, and always gave me an attitude. I dont know what kind of waiters they have there to be honest. People go out to eat and have a good time, she made me feel bad being there and made me loose my appetite.

This restaurant changed its name and the menu. Its better than when it was Spring Gardens. Kathy our server was very nice and checked with us at the right moments to help in anything we needed. I had fried Grouper it was excellent, my wife had the Country fried steak it was very good. The green bean were fresh not frozen or canned, the mashed potatoes were fresh. The soups were very good also. Prices were a little up but not to bad, we will be back soon.

Have never had a bad experience while enjoying one of the best breakfast places in Elgin. This place delivers more than one would expect. For example, order the 2 egg breakfast with hash browns OR fruit (no upcharge) and 2 pancakes or toast, and what will consistently arrive at your table is 3 eggs and the tastiest pancakes you could ever want. Highly recommended. Staff is pleasant and will get to know their regulars by name.

Love this place. Have been coming here since it opened. The owner is very friendly and will come and chat with you. They have very good lunch and dinner specials. Refills on soup, salad and beverages. In the spring the Big Skillet has a half price on all the food for one day. They have the best soups around. The food is not greasy and friendly Waitresses and Waiters. Enjoy!!!!

Fist time coming here, and never going back.Food was ok, But costumer service sucked. The waitress brought our food, 5 mins later she comes back saying if we need any boxes to take home. We felt like she wanted us to leave. By the way her name is kim. I wouldnt recomended to any one. This was a very bad experience.
