This place serves up really flavorful, unique tasting sandwiches. It manages to effectively and creatively blend asian flavors into a sandwich. Initially, I wasnt sold on this concept, but having tasted their sandwiches, Im a believer. The Indonesian sandwich has a great blend of power packed flavors that will leave you wanting for more after each bite. It can get a bit messy to eat because of all the sauces that are packed into this little sandwich. They do their own chips as well and they taste great. A little on the oily side but definitely not overly salted. A great compliment to the tasty sandwich. There isnt much seating available so Ive noticed that most people do take out. There is convenient, affordable street parking right in front of the shop, if you can find an empty lot.

Outstanding sandwiches by an awesome, local fam. Youll feel silly spending any money at any other sandwich places after eating here. The sandwiches are outstanding, the bermese chips are the best, & the slaw is legit. They refuse to use anything but the best ingredients, no hfcs in the place, no soybean oil used, locally made top notch bread, & the cooking process itself is outstanding. Id advise anybody starting their own restaurant to take a page from their book; quality ingredients & great people. This is what its all about & Ill visit every time I have the pleasure of the opportunity.

1st time here. The attendant very friendly, good service. She recommended the ginger bbq with Burmese fries and I followed her suggestion. She got confused and instead of pork she served me chicken. She apologized and offered to prepare the Pork sandwich, but I kept the chicken sandwich. Flavor: delish! It reminded me a bah mi sandwich. The chicken with the spices was excellent! Their soft drinks are cane sugar, not corn syrup which I prefer in that way. I tried due the 1st time almond cola and it was good. I will recommend this place and will come back again when being around.

Truly delicious and original little sandwich shop. My girlfriend and I are vegetarian and traded halves of the Fig paneer sandwich and the Indonesian Ginger with seitan. The sandwiches were very flavorful and messy in the best way possible. The chips and slaw offered as sides are also unique and delicious. Soulwich is a true small business. When we went, the sandwiches were made by the owner herself. The owner was warm, enthusiastic, and very proud of the fact that everything she makes is fresh. Highly recommended! I cant wait to go back and try some of the other sandwiches.

It was my first time to Soulwich and I was quite impressed not only with the delicious food in substantial portions, but with the friendly staff, cleanliness, bright decor, and soothing background music. My son had been there before while working at Northwestern and loved it! He had the Burmese Coconut Curry sandwich and I had the Indonesian Ginger BBQ which was fabulous! The homeade Asian Slaw is absolutely fantastic and the Green Jasmine & Infused Herb Iced Tea a tasty treat. I will definitely return more than once and make my way around the menu.

Yuck. I tried Soulwich delivery tonight and was supremely disappointed. I ordered the Indonesian bbq. It was totally gross when I opened it up. Soggy bread, gross-smelling and tasting sauce, carrots everywhere. I ate a bit of it and ended up giving the sandwich to my dog. She isnt a picky eater luckily, but neither am I! Definitely wont be eating here again. Are there any good restaurants in Evanston? I have been less than impressed each time I order in. Wish I had ordered Chinese.

Ive been here a few times and absolutely love everything Ive tried so far (tuna, bbq pork, coconut curry). They are honestly some of the most flavorful and fresh sandwiches Ive ever had - even the cole slaw is fantastic. My friends love the vegetarian and vegan options as well. The staff are always very friendly and conversational when we go in, the restaurant is clean, and the food is prepared perfectly each time. I would highly recommend Soulwich to just about anybody.

These sandwiches are SO DAMN GOOD! The ingredients are fresh, the veggies are crisp, and the seasoning is perfection. I keep wanting to try other kinds but Im stuck on the Indonesian BBQ. Ive heard the salads are equally good and lord dont let me forget the Burmese chips! Crisp, lightly seasoned..the perfect addition to a meal. The slaw is even better with its light dressing and crunch.

The atmosphere is casual and easy-going. In addition, with zero exaggeration, the Indonesian BBQ Pork sandwich is one of the (if not THE) best sandwiches I have ever had the joy of eating. Pair it with the delicious no-mayo pan-asian coleslaw and a refreshing jasmine tea ginger ale, and you have a not only very affordable, but also a genuinely delicious and memorable meal!

Delicious sandwich- I had the Indonesian chicken BBQ. Great blend of sweet and savory, soft and crunchy, and filling but not too heavy. It was so tasty that I took home a sandwich to save in my fridge for lunch. The staff were nice enough to take time to package the bread, veggies, and meat separately to prevent sogginess. Will definitely come back!

Love this place! Sandwiches are excellent, owners are very friendly, interesting beverage options, and the Burmese chips are delicious. They have outdoor seating, really fast service, and there are great vegetarian options (their seitan is awesome). The only suggestion I have would be more cilantro on the sandwiches, but everything was wonderful.

Ordered the signature soulwich as to-go. While the food certainly spelled promising, there were a couple things that just didnt work. Because of all the sauces & liquids (prob from pickled carrots) in the filling, the sandwich just doesnt hold together and becomes a mess that requires a fork to eat. The chips werent fresh and tasted a bit stale.

Its all about the paneer & fig sandwich. Im also really big on the Asian slaw that comes with the sammies. Though they could make those tacos I keep hearing about a permanent installation. Nothing else like it in Evanston - definitely my new favorite lunchtime grub spot. Happy to recommend this place.

Indonesian Ginger BBQ at Soulwich is possibly the best sandwich Ive ever had. It was so good that I immediately got a 2nd sandwich, the #7 Sesame Chili Tuna. Best tuna sandwich one can get. The owner and his wife are really awesome and friendly people. Highly recommend this spot.

My Soulwich was delish. Good bread from Bennisons Bakery and good fresh ingredients make a great sandwich. Just a quick warning for new customers- when they ask if you want your sandwich spicy, they mean it! Great if you enjoy spicy curry flavors, if you dont, keep it mild.

Soulwich is the best! The sandwiches are DELICIOUS (the Indonesian BBQ with pork is life-changing), and the owners are wonderful people. Fresh ingredients, amazing flavors, great atmosphere. By far my favorite place to eat in Evanston!

Amazing food and lovely service. We come into town from upstate NY and always make sure to stop here once or twice while we are in town. Everything Ive gotten has been awesome. #4 and #7 are particularly delish. I highly recommend it!

Very good banh mi-like sandwiches here. The Indonesian bbq is my favorite. The sandwiches come with burmese chips or coleslaw. Both are good. The sandwiches can often get a little messy and begin to fall apart though.
