A few years ago, I spent two weeks travelling all over Thailand. I fell in love with everything Thailand and vowed I will live there one day. There are hundreds of Thai restaurants in Chicago, but JJ Thai is the first Ive found that pretty much transported me right back to Thailand! The food is amazing and is closer to what youll find in the far-flung areas of Thailand than most other Thai places in Chicago. If youve decided that youre not a fan of Thai food, you should seriously consider giving JJ Thai a shot. If you love Thai food, you should give JJ Thai a shot. If you eat food, you should give JJ Thai a shot!! Outstanding place (and its BYOB!!)

Authentic Thai street food experience with metal cups, interesting straw vessels, and comfortable indoor seating. Restaurant is on the smaller side with about 7 tables. All the food spelled terrific, utilizing more spices typical to Thailand than the average Thai American restaurant. The menu is also more expansive rather than just dry stir-fry noodle. Loved the green papaya salad and tom yum soup I had. My friend was not very hungry and still finished every last piece of his noodle soup (#2). Service was fast.

What a cozy shop serving some of the best Thai street food in Chicago. There isnt the usual pad thai and yellow curry here - this is street food. The sticky rice dishes are great. What I like the most is the seasoning: they are well balanced, and free of the excessive sugary taste of most other Americanized Thai food. Staff is friendly. Came here and chat with my friends until place close and they were super polite. Will return. BYOB.

With all the excellent reviews I was expecting really good/authentic thai food, we ordered 5 dishes and I feel all of them were ok "home cooked" Thai food, definitely not what we had in Thailand couple months ago. On top of that I feel JJ Thai cost 30-50% more than most other Thai restaurants in Chicagoland. Think about it, Thai street food is known for being really cheap and really good, this is a swing and a miss.

The hostess I encountered today was very rude. Every time she spoke to me, she had a frown. So I thought ok, maybe shes having a bad day. Then I watched her serve a white woman across from me. She was courteous to her and even smiled. I will say the food was good but Ive had better. I will take my business elsewhere.

BYOB with a liquor store right down the street. It was a busy night but we got in very quickly, and it didnt take long to be served. The food was great, and even if you dont know how to pronounce the names of dishes, they have a hand letter and number system to ID each dish.

Tasty, eclectic, Thai restaurant with open view kitchen featuring both Thai comfort food along with some creative dishes for the little more adventurous folks. Try the Som Tom (Papaya Salad) with sticky rice. Medium spicy is my favorite with a side of grilled chicken.

Theres no shortage of Thai food in Chicago, and theres a good number of pretty solid gems scattered throughout. But JJ Thai nails it with simplicity and strong execution. Head to this place if you want great food at good prices.

JJs seems like a cut above other Thai places in the area. Had banana chips and basil chicken and both were excellent, will return for sure. Great atmosphere, friendly staff.

Sometimes slightly pricier than youd want, but you cant get some of these dishes anywhere else closeby. Service can be slow, but take out is always timely.
