We have been getting her absolutely amazing empanadas every week in the summer at a farmers market when I learned she had a store front. She is the nicest lady and her family helps her out and everyone is just wonderful. This carries over into the food. We live in Chicago but were able to try Tomate Fresh Kitchen for the first time last night. We got the ground beef nachos, a carne asada burrito, an al pastor burrito, a ground beef burrito, and a chicken tinga gordita. Everything was absolutely excellent. The tortillas, chips, and gordita shell were all just right. Not too doughy, not over cooked, not stale. The ground beef is a little spicier than one might exect, but delicious. The chicken tinga, especially if you can get it in an empanada, is perhaps one of the best things. Very good, and will eat here again if we can.

I ordered pickup here and loved the chicken tinga gordita ($4)! The sweet potato taco ($3) that I also got was an interesting option and Im glad I tried it but perhaps not for me--I hoped it would have some kick. I really wanted to pair with the gordita with chips and guac, but I couldnt bring myself to pay $8 to add them as a side. Chips and salsa were also surprisingly pricy at $6. On Eatstreet there were no empanadas listed but it turns out that they do offer some tasty-sounding empanadas for $4. Grubhub has their complete menu and Im not sure why the other site doesnt, but its a small, hot space for ordering and waiting so I recommend ordering ahead for pickup.

Guacamole was boring, flat tasting. Lacking garlic or cilantro for any chance of freshness and vibrance. Salsa was very unremarkable, lacked salt. Mushroom quesadilla had poor distribution of ingredients. Grilled chicken taco was average. Sweet potato gordita was okay, but yucca gordita was probably the most flavorless food Ive had in any recent memory. It was also lacking any chimmichurri sauce and when I asked them about it they did nothing to resolve the issue. Was looking forward to this place but I am severely disappointed.

Delicious food BUT horrible delivery customer service. I placed an order for delivery at 5:45. They close at 6 and never delivered the order. I called at 5:45 and they said the order was 10 minutes away but it never came. When I tried calling, they put me on hold for 10 minutes and never came back to the phone. Eventually the order came but 30 minutes later.

I work on Noyes every weekend never knew this was a taco joint.... Glad I found it because DD Dogs is a huge disappointment however came here for steak tacos (may favorite!!) they were good the meat is little oily but they give a nice portion of meat on each taco. Could add more cilantro and onions but overall they were good I would go back

They have an authentic and delicious selection of Mexican food. I especially love their vegetarian burritos and thier tilapia burrito with pineapple salsa is just too good. They have amazing prices and great staff. I recommend this place to everyone who loves burritos.

Three dollar tacos! They have burritos and other stuff (to long to list, but there is something for everyone), as well as desserts and horchata. Very tasty, good customer service, no room to eat, barely any room to order. But still great! Patio seating out front.

I love Tomate so much its my favorite place to eat in Evanston and I would eat there every day if I could. The food is so so delicious and fresh. Polo (the guy who is at the cash register) is also the best person ever, he is so friendly and kind.
