* I want to preface this review by saying that Im a bit of a service snob. Since I work in sales, my job survival depends on giving great service and making real connections. For as long as I can recall, Ive had the ability to tell when someone is being real or simply being on autopilot and going through the motions. * Rookies is a very fun place to get together with friends for a night out. It definitely has the feel of a Cheers-like bar where everybody knows your name. I regularly see the bartenders talk to customers on a first name basis. I can not say that I see this in too many places. The volume is perfect and you can actually have an actual conversation with someone without being droned out by thumping bass or dance beats. And while the whole staff is excellent, there is one bartender that stands out in particular. Her name is Jen. Jen is simply the best Ive ever seen in all my years. She is authentic, cares a lot about her customers, attentive, has a keen sense of humor and is a great conversationalist. Its clear that she really takes pride in what she does and it shines through. Stop into Rookies for a good time. Be sure to ask for Jen when you do.

The food Ive had is ok I did notice when they do their $1 burger specials it isnt the same Burgers they usually serve I ordered medium it came out well done and dry and pretty tasteless. I suppose I can see it from their standpoint a little but when something is run as a special I dont usually expect to get a different product. The atmosphere is nice but I was more than a little thrown off when I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea and found out that its actually a premix cocktail not made from scratch. If you want it made from scratch you have to make sure you tell them "from scratch" and even that is just ok. Our server however was excellent she was happy, energetic and had a great personality I unfortunately cant recall her name but Ill be sure to find out during my next visit and update this post. Update: I went there with a friend November 5th and decided to sit at the bar as soon as we sat down it smelled like sour vomit not exactly sure why. It reminds me of sludge Jon Taffer pulls out from somewhere in the show Bar Rescue when they say the bar smells bad.

We went here Saturday and ended up getting our wallets and cell phones stolen. Apparently many people get their things stolen at the Elgin location. Management DID NOT help us one bit and to top it all off the bouncer grabbed me and was forcing me out the door for no apparent reason. I was told by the manager it was because I swore at him, which I DID NOT do. The fact that they did not help us locate our things, did not even give us a discount of any sort for our troubles and forced us out is unimaginable. I have never been treated like this at any establishment. I am a lady and a male bouncer should not be "man handling" ladies like that. Please watch your things closely when you come here, our belongings were right in front of us which can only mean it was possibly staff that did it and management tried to cover it up by throwing us out. After speaking to other people in the bathroom they mentioned that theft is a huge issue here, with that being send you would think theyd hike up their security for the customer.

One star because the beer was cold and the other for the Turkey Melt sandwich, otherwise, the service, the fries and the nachos were zero stars. The waitress seemed put off that she had to work/take my order, the nachos were on a large plate but were bland and tasteless and the fries were just boring. Oh yeah, when I entered, the hostess was too busy texting to notice I was standing there until she finished her text.

Nice place, food preparation was not very good. Went there two nights in a row. First night ordered a burger med rare and it was well done. Second night ordered onion rings, they were good, but the wings were nasty, you can tell by the taste they were fried then sat and re-fried. There was allot of grease in the basket.

Its a great place, Everyone is very friendly and I spend alot of time there. I saw that girl that night who says she was man-handled. Lol! She was so drunk and screaming at the Mgmt and staff, she was asked to leave and walked out on her own. It appeared to everyone she was trying to get a discount on her bill..very sad.

I used to enjoy this place - however after the most recent vist I wont be coming back. Their customer service sucks - both the server and the manager, Mike, were unbelievably rude. The food has gone down hill too. They obviously dont care about retaining business.

Not very good service kids eat free on Thursday when we got our bill we got charged for the kids because we had the dollar burgers and she never said that until we received the billl.Not a very friendly waitress.

Rookies is a great place to watch sporting events or take your family out for a bite to eat. The staff is friendly and the place is clean. They server large portions and their food is good.

This is a very nice bar to watch sports and have a beer. Probably the best sports bar I have visited. The cheese curds were highly priced but good. Cops hang out in the parking lot.

Draught beer flat. Explained to a prick of a manager that he has co2 or keg problems . He just gave me attitude and walked away. Im from our of town. First time customer. Never again

Not bad. $1 burgers would be nice if the fries weekend $4! Lol. Its a great place to enjoy a beer and a burger around lunch and catch the ESPN highlights while hanging with a bud.

Good food... but incredibly annoying when they feel the need to blast ESPN sport zone and also need 11 tvs showing the Cubs game instead of 10 cubs and one Sox game.

Typical sports bar. Decent food for a good price. Great place to meet friends or coworkers for a drink after work. I dont like watching sports here though.
