A quaint brunch spot that is on the northern most edge of Andersonville, edging its way into the Edgewater neighborhood. My fiance and I arrived just before the brunch rush around 10am on a Sunday, and we were promptly seated. The waitress who greeted us was incredibly friendly, and she was probably one of my most pleasant waitress experiences in recent memory. She was prompt with our order and made sure that our coffee mugs were always full and hot, as well as keeping our water glasses topped off. Our food came out surprisingly fast after placing our order, and I was very pleased with my selection. I went with the drunked poblano which was a blackened pepper filled with scrambled eggs and chorizo, and topped with cheese and avocado. All the flavors went wonderfully together and it had a nice kick to it. I could have done without the corn cakes on the side, as well as the rice, as it was bland and lackluster in comparison to the stuffed pepper. The fiance went with the seafood egg hollandaise dish and wasnt incredibly thrilled with it--the food came out colder than lukewarm, which was offputting. The side of bacon was also less than ideal, it was just thin standard bacon, nothing special here. There are definitely pros and cons to this restaurant, but its a step up from the standard brunch offerings of a diner, so Id highly recommend it if youre in the area.

M Henry, where have you been hiding all my life?? After hearing about this place from a DC-based colleague who saw it on TV, I had to try it. My husband and I showed up at about 9:30 on a Sunday and waited only ten minutes for a table. The wait time flew by while I drooled over all the pastries in their bakery case. They all looked delicious, and next time I plan to grab some tasty baked goods for later! Once we were seated, I found myself staring embarrassingly at the egg sandwich the next table over. It looked delicious, and I would have definitely ordered it if I were in the mood for a savory breakfast. Maybe next time...The menu was full of yummy-sounding things, but I finally settled on the Blackberry Blisscakes and my husband had the Latina Omeletta. My pancakes were light and fluffy, and the blackberries were plentiful. The oat and brown sugar crust added just a hint of crunch, making the pancakes pure perfection. I will probably be dreaming about these for a while! My husbands omelet was also very tasty, and the potatoes on the side were flavorful and perfectly cooked. And OMG the hot chocolate! Probably the best hot chocolate I have ever tasted. It was super frothy, and made with Belgian chocolate that was rich, but not too rich. The hot chocolate alone is worth the trek. In summary - go to M Henry, you will love it!

MHenry turned out to be Oh Henry, you suck! Saturday, 9/18/20 @ 12:40 PM, party of 4. The stated 30 minute ended up taking 55 minutes where the hostesses and waitstaff seated regulars and friends who came in after us. This was extremely rude to all the customers waiting and as a first time patron to this venue, I found that it reflected the managements lack of professionalism. Upon being sat, it took approximately 10 minutes before our server came to take our order. Our drinks came out right away, which made us confused to think that the customer service here might be decent until we had to wait 30 minutes for our food that came in waves of 5 minutes. I scanned the dining area and noticed the table that was sat 20 minutes after us got their food at the same time of the last person in our party. Food was mediocre, nothing to rave about. This could have been due to the long wait and poor service that distorted my taste buds. Would I come back? Its hard to say. Other reviews for this place seem to be positive so I might.

This could be the best custard shop in the world. The staff are friendly and the custard is delicious. They have make-your-own concretes as well as some terrific suggested concoctions. There is also a huge selection of candies, including some long-forgotten classics. There is a pastry case and a wide selection of unusual sodas. They serve Metropolis coffee drinks as well. The shop is decorated like an old-time soda fountain with some local artists work displayed. Lickety Split is a favorite hang out for families and the owners have been great neighbors in Edgewater. There are clean bathrooms and a water cooler with cups. I recommend the OMG concretes, the root-beer floats, the sea-salt, chocolate chip cookies and I also enjoy having the staff pour an espresso into a chocolate concrete sometimes. When I do get a chocolate concrete I have them use vanilla custard with chocolate fudge. I think its a bit more chocolatey tasting.

We live in Lisle, IL. And weve been waiting to come here for a while, but the scare of long lines lingered over our heads...Finally, it had to be the first morning of 2012, when we capitalized on most of Chicago nursing a NYs hangover to dine at M. Henry. This place is absolutely cozy and adorable; the decorations in the main dining room feel like you are in a separate from everyone yet open for the world to see. I ordered the Polenta and my wife ordered the apple French toast - both were simple and fresh and delicious. AND, we were hungry at a normal time, so the portion wasnt huge or overloaded with a days worth of calories. Which, we totally dont mind sometime, but it was good to get something different. Will definitely try to be back early in the morning next week! The line was out the door already at about 11:00am when we were leaving already.

I"m afraid this place is on the decline. My past two visits havent been nearly as great as they once were. The food seems to lack that YUM factor that I remember. The atmosphere is one of high energy which can be a bit draining if youre looking for a relaxed brunch experience. They pack a lot of tables into a smaller space and do their best to create division of the space with reclaimed doors and windows. Its hard not to hear the conversations at the adjacent tables. Environment aside, service seems slightly less attentive and slightly more sloppy. Lastly, I remember having LOTS of the bottomless coffee. On my last visit, I wasnt interested in any more than a single cup. It just wasnt good coffee. I overheard the same from the table next to me also. Sadly, m.henry will no longer be on my brunch rotation.

Just tried brunch, and it was fantastic! There is the restaurant itself plus a little pastry shop right when you walk in the door. All the pastries looked absolutely gorgeous, and even though it was super crowded, we got a table in just ten minutes and had really quick service. Our server was very kind and attentive, and the food was on point. I ordered the huevos borrachos, which did not disappoint with fresh corn tortillas and a smoky adobo sauce, and my boyfriend ordered the blisscakes two ways: with blackberries and with cranberries and peaches. Both of our dishes were fantastic, and we finished the meal off with a sein du chocolat in the shape of a heart. I know thats super kitschy Valentines Fay stuff, but it was an amazing way to end the meal. I look forward to going back to try the blisscakes myself.
