The last time I ate here it is under new management so issues of service, forgetting my orders, and long wait times for food seem to be over. I like dim sum, yes I do. I like dim sum, how about you? Dim sim is the champion of breakfasts, I dont care what you may think, lifeless limp and flavorless pancakes dont cut it. I need flavor, savory, and POW. As far as I know, this is the most decent dim sum I have eaten in Chicago. Decent in the world? Or even the US? Absolutely not but for those days you really must have your beef noodle, shumai, chicken feet, and steamed custard buns it will hold you over until you can buy a plane ticket out of this place. So what is good? Their lunch specials are good but keep in mind it really is just rice and the entree. Nothing else. No soup, no frozen egg rolls you buy from cost co, or anything like that. Just rice and entree. Do they do it well? Why yes they do. Their peppered shrimp, chicken dishes, and well most the dim sum is good. For those of you who dont know how to order, there is a fairly large piece of paper they give you, you check off a few items and wait. Their beef noodle is good, steamed buns are moist and savory, and their cucumbers have that fresh cold but tangy crunch. The price is decent, not too expensive. So try something new! Whats the worst that could happen? The good: beef noodle (usually they do a good job), cucumbers, other dumplings. The not so good: their shumai. Seriously. Not good. I am guessing just dont get shumai around Chicago.

We ordered exclusively from Charming Wok (its previous name) at least once per month for 10 years, and were rarely disappointed - sometimes the food was inconsistent, but never enough to stop going to them. Then one day we tried ordering during normal business hours, but there was no answer, so I tried again - thinking I misdialed the number. A person picked up the phone and started screaming at me to stop calling and that they were closed, and that I should have figured it out by no one picking the phone up. At that point they hung up on me. I called back, had a few choice words with the person, and then boycotted them for over 2 years. We deperately tried several different Asian places but couldnt find one that matched the quality of Charming Wok/Silver Seafood. Finally, my wife and I relented and have gone back to them - certainly not as much as we used to, but when the craving strikes......

If large portions and lots of menu options are your criteria for excellent food, youll love the place. Its DIRTY and the food is just OK if youre really hungry. We sat at a booth next to a wall-to-wall mirror. My first observation was filth, smudges, and food slime on the mirror down near the table. I reluctantly picked up the soy sauce bottle; and yes, slime & crust under my fingertips. Went to the counter for a tooth pick and saw the touch screen computer monitor at the service station - covered with slimy fingerprint marks. The place is disgusting, they really need to get some windex and figure out how to use it.

Was waiting outside when the restaurant opened for lunch the day after I saw the Check Please segment. One of the most disappointing restaurant experiences I have had based on expectations. The restaurant was dirty; soy sauce dripping down the outside of the bottles, food on the floor from the night before, fortune cookie crumbs on the seat. The food was average; ordered the Dungeness crab based on the rave reviews of the Check Please participants and it was extremely ordinary. The bill for the crab, a $3 appetizer and a tip came to $37; Save your money; no ambience, so-so food and high prices.

Silvers Seafood Restaurant serves sharks fin soup, which is a soup made with chicken stock and includes bits of sharks fin, which happen to be not only nutrition-less but also tasteless. The shark fin industry is responsible for the decimation of over 90% of the oceans shark population. That is over one million sharks slaughtered each year. Please do not eat at this restaurant or any restaurant that includes shark fin on their menu. If you do decide to eat here please tell management that you object to the item of sharks fin soup on their menu and urge them to remove it.

It was my first time ever really trying raw oysters. We ordered the Oysters Rockefeller, which was quite good. The spinach and lemon were great. We also ordered a dozen Blue Point oysters. They were OK. The staff was lovely though. Our waitress was very knowledgable of the menu. Overall, its a great little spot for dates and/or groups. Very loud and a bit dark.

Worst service ever! I stopped in here for dimsum. Got a menu, seated, and it took them about 10minutes to come take my order. This place doesnt have the dimsum cart. So I figured it would only take 15 minutes at the most to get my food. 20, 25 minutes passed and still no food! OK fine. They had 4 big tables, but almost 40minutes for shu mai??

Once again Silver Seafood has impressed. This is not your typical American Chinese cheap fast food. This is authentic Chinese Dining. Stay away from the American Chinese menu, because its inauthentic anyway. Try the crispy chicken, the quaiil, the sizzling beef, any of the seafood. This is the best Chinese on the north side hands down.

Large portions of fresh seafood at a reasonable price. I order the steamed oysters on the half shell, Mongolian beef, salt and pepper pork chops, and any of the fish filet preparations. This place is good at accommodating large groups. Ask for the complimentary house soup and dessert porridge.

Ordered beef fried rice and combo fried rice. The food was tasteless as saw dust and greasy as engine oil. Dont recommend the food here at all. I paid $17.60 for the food. I would rather have paid the same amount to avoid tasting that kind of food. On the plus side the order was quick

I really like this food. It has very good service. My favorite food is the salt and pepper smelt. That stuff is really good. This was a staple restaurant with my high school friends because its also relatively inexpensive. This is a good place. Would eat at again.

Old school charm and tasty Chinese food focusing on -- wait for it, wait for it -- seafood. Its not going to be fish that just came from the airplane, but its good enough. And theyre open late, so its the perfect place to dine after a show.

Very satisfying. I will return again and again. Food and service was great. No matter what type of budget you have, they still have different types of food for great prices. Also they have wine which I will try next time!
