Do you like games of chance? This is your place! Ive been here a few times and didnt have anything interesting to write about but this last time was special. We ordered a banana Nutella wafles and a French Dip sandwich which, the menu said, came with au jus and horseradish sauce. It sounded great. What we were brought from the kitchen were waffles with hot fudge instead of Nutella. The sandwich came without au jus and without horseradish sauce. When I asked for it, one if the waitress apologised but said we were not her table. We had to wait for our waitress to show up so we could ask again. She brought the au jus. No sauce. When I asked for the sauce she said that she knew its one the menu but that they have not served it for two years. I guess it takes that long to change your menu. On our way out the manager said that their Wi-Fi was acting up so they could take credit cards. Luckily, I had some cash. Dont get me wrong, the food wasnt bad, but it seemed that they just didnt care. And with that kind of an attitude, you are just taking a chance coming in here. There are plenty of other diners around the neighborhood.

This is the third time that weve been to this restaurant and the experience has been bad enough to leave this disappointing review. They are usually unorganized/understaffed/unmotivated to work, which I can only attach to a low pay or bad management. The first time we were there it took them 40 minutes to serve me a hot tea, after several reminders. Tonight we arrived there around 9:30 and even called before getting there. We were told there was no problem to serve a 12 people party. While we understand the difficulties of a big group, we should have been told that they werent able to accommodate us. They took us in, we were told only certain items were available from the menu and soon after we order we are told that we have to pay right away so they can close the register. We pay while we are eating, but we are given no check. We give credit cards and are told how much its going to be. We see no bill or anything that contains what we are paying. In terms of the food, its the typical brunch place. Concretely my food was cold, so I am sure it had been reheated from earlier in the day. We are not going back here.

This place is a throwback to the old school American diner of the 60s. From the bright pink neon sign outside to the booth seating inside, this place transports one back in time. The food is not too shabby as well, serving up a good ol hearty American breakfast. I had the pancakes (because it said on its outdoor signs that they specialised in pancakes and Im a sucker for signs/outdoor advertising). It did not disappoint. The sign was right! The pancakes were light and fluffy, paired with maple syrup, it was a mouthwatering experience from the time I laid eyes on it. Tasting it was even better as it was warm, and airy, I could taste the rich batter used to make it. Scrumptious! My wife had the eggs benedict and even though I didnt get to try it (because it disappeared so quickly), it looked awesome. The eggs glistening in the morning light, with the bright hollandaise sauce dripping over it. Overall, this is a great place for breakfast given the food quality and very reasonable price point. I will definitely come back for more.

Rip Off Alert. I ordered a steak sandwich for carry out tonight. I went to the counter when I walked in and was told to go to the back. I did. I asked about my sandwich. The waitress said, it should be done in a couple minutes. Can I pay my bill while Im waiting, I asked. Sure. she said She gave me a higher bill and asked if I wanted to tip. Why are you charging me for fries? On the menu it says you get a side with the sandwich. Fine she said. Ill take it off. Do you want to tip? I was still confused as to why she was charging me an extra 1.50 for fries. What I asked? Would you like to tip? She said again. No, Im sorry. I dont tip for carry out. She gave me a new bill, all of sudden my food was done. As expected at home. The sandwich wasnt really done, no sauce, etc. I had a dry steak sandwich. I have no idea what kind of shady games they play here but after this experience. I will not be going back and I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

My girlfriend and I were hungry after a day of cleaning and rearranging my apartment. We decided to go out of our way to Melrose Diner. Ive been here before and its been pretty decent. When we arrived at 1am on a Saturday, there were only 2 other tables with people... Not a busy night at all. I ordered corn beef hash and my girlfriend had the ultimate meat omelette, she very clearly asked for no bacon and no mushrooms. While our waitress was nice she did seem a little inattentive. Food came out in decent time however it was completely wrong. The omelette had no sausage and tons of bacon, and they forgot one of my sides. They did eventually stop by and took back the food to correct it which was nice but totally expected. There was no effort to make us feel like they cared. I honestly dont think we will be returning anytime soon. Especially since there is a diner closer to our place here in the gold coast.

Low key diner- good for lazy weekend meals with friends. While they do have delicious breakfast option, they are very strict about lunch starting at 11. If its a diner style tuna melt you want for brunch, youre going to have to wait until 11 to order. You cant put your order in with the waitress at 10:45 when the rest of your table is ready to order so by the time you get your food at 11:10, you can have the lunch item you wanted. Youll wait patiently till 11 to order that tuna melt, with cheddar- its better that way. When you do get it, youll be so happy. Because it was just what you wanted. Its a BYOB situation for brunch. Try the pancakes for breakfast- or just get an order for the table while you wait 20mins for the lunch menu. The staff could be friendlier, but whatever. ***not actually open 24hrs***

This used to be my go-to diner for late night feasting. But, on a recent visit, we were saddened to find out the owner had passed away. The son has taken over and made a few changes. Dont get me wrong, the food was still good and remodel looks nice. But to be cliche, "if it aint broke, dont fix it." The menu has been drastically cut. Some of my favorite items were no longer on the menu. Maybe they now use a special late-night menu? The prices also have gone up, but the amount of food on your plate is less. Surprisingly, I miss the banana. I get that prices have to go up from time to time, but still. I used to be able to save half of my breakfast for the next day. Not the case anymore. I guess maybe I am getting old and becoming more resistant to change, but I think I will half to find a new breakfast spot.
