We arrived right on time for our reservation and the host finally made it to the host stand to tell us that our table would require a wait since a few people hadnt gotten up yet. Five minutes later another group of four walks in and is immediately seated at a table in the bar area. We asked the host about it and basically told us the other group was special and we could keep waiting and enjoy the $1 oysters at the bar (we werent ordering drinks or food at the bar). Finally 15 minutes past our reservation were given the table next to the group that was seated before us at the bar. The host once again informed us that since we were sitting in the bar area we could continue to order the $1 oysters. After another 10 minutes of waiting with no server or water, the host finally got us some water and when we asked if a server would be by, he told us she was busy. For the restaurants sake, she did show up immediately after that. We did try to eventually order some of those $1 oysters from our waitress only to find out that they were out of them. We went on to have a lovely, all be it HOT meal. The foie gras was excellent and the steak tar tar was a little too spicy. The couple with us shared the whole sole and really seemed to have enjoyed it. And our waitress was very friendly and attentive once she finally found our table.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Its pleasant and cozy with hints of swank and no pretensions. The service was excellent. The courses were spaced perfectly, and I never felt rushed or like I was just waiting. When we noticed that the restaurant was completely empty and it was getting late, we got up to go, but our server insisted that we stay and finish our wine and coffee. On to the food: It went from okay to pretty good. The French onion soup was a little soggy and smokey for my taste, though Im sure some people prefer it that way. Next, was the La Bandade du Morue. I didnt care for this salted cod at all. It tasted bland and greasy, but my SO didnt mind it. Fortunately, the lamb chops and escargot were very good. It made me forget my disappointment with the first courses. Im not a dessert person, but ours were delicious! I got the chocolate souffle and I cant remember the name of the other, but it was the root beer float one. It is pricey, but the wine was half off (not sure if thats every Monday or not). Also, we didnt need to order nearly so much, but I wanted to taste so many things. I definitely plan on going back to try more partly because the atmosphere and the service made it such a pleasant dining experience.

La Sardine offers fantastically delicious French food paired with a large selection of wine and all delivered via great service. The daily deals are good but the Tuesday fixed price deal stands above the rest as an absolute steal. The restaurant can get a bit busy in the evening so, try coming just a bit later for a calmer, less crowded atmosphere. The French onion soup, souffles, and signature seafood dish are among my favorites. Overall, highly recommend this restaurant as one of my absolute favorite places to dine in the city.

This is not a review about the restaurant itself but the glazed duck leg at the tasting at randolph square. The duck was dry, burned, and the glaze on top had potential but lacked that oomph to pull it all together. I would like to try some other things but not too crazy about the duck, perhaps it was out on the grill too long.

This is a nice neighborhood French restaurant. The decor is what you would expect. It was on a busy Saturday night, but due do dense seating, very noisy, and the music was loud as well. The food was good, but Ive had better at this price point ($460 for 4 with drinks and tip). The chocolate souffle was excellent though.

Solid French food, excellent for large groups, particularly for business lunchs since they have a lot of large tables open. Its also perfect for that because the menu has a large range of options, from steak frites to more adventurous things like pates. Almost everything is made in-house from scratch too.

Was here with my heart for our anniversary and as a frenchman i can only say it was a great experience. Of course i have had the best and worse of all the dishes served here in my youth and this place cooked as well as french food can be cooked in america. And service was great Nicklas Prince

Cary the server offered perfect service. The food was awesome!!! I had the house salad, duck and apple tart. Good French bistros are getting harder to find. La Sardine is a hidden jewel. As an added bonus, Pre Fix is the Tuesday special.

Classic French food and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Every Tuesday they have a prix fix menu that is a great deal and Fridays there are $1 oysters at the bar. I love the escargot, the gnocchi, french onion soup, and the pork belly.

Excellent little french restaurant. Everything Ive tried here is good. I highly recommend ordering the souffle before the meal. The raspberry sauce is phenomenal. Wines are all excellent. The bar tender wants to make you happy here.

One of my go-to Frenchies in Chicago. All around excellent food and service. The M-Th happy-hour (5pm-7pm at the bar), and the Friday $1 oysters, are both excellent options! Nice wine list, with good pairings for the dishes offered.

Always good with excellent prix fixe option on Tuesdays. A cozy option for business lunches away from the loop crowds. A nice west loop dinner retreat for locals or those seeking something different. French comfort food done very well.

My goodness, I cant express enough what a great time I had at Le Sardine. Our server managed to feed us like a King with 5 course meals at the price of two meals. He mustve had a reallly gud day, dont u think? :) ;)

Sorry but the service destroyed an otherwise good , but not great meal. There are so many places that are so much better , why would I go to this again. They have no idea how to deal with customers.

Amazing steaks etc. Nice cozy location in West Loop. Great selection of wine & beer. Valet parking usually available & street parking not too hard to find on Carpenter.

Wonderful. Our waiter remembered us, always a nice feeling. Try the lobster avocado salad and the red wine, any red wine. Will go here again & again.

The food was wonderful. I enjoyed the decor of the place and the desserts were outstanding. I enjoyed the flames the most. Who made them?
