Ooh La La I am in love when it comes to this lovely French cafe that is hotel located at The Peninsula. The back to back dates I have visited Pierrot Gourmet have been met with excellent service accompanied by delicious food. I have had two visits to this lovely bistro one on July 14th for Lunch and one on the July 16th. On my Friday visit they were celebrating Bastille Day or in French la Fête nationale which includes a special menu for lunch and dinner. I started my lunch with a cup of their French Onion Soup and a St. Germain Fizz. The St. Germain Fizz was refreshing but with a hint sweetness. The French Onion soup let me tell you is the best one I have had to date. French Onion soup is my favorite type of soup to a point that if it is on a menu - I am ordering it. Pierrot Gourmets French Onion soup is one of the books and the top of my list. It is balanced and it is like a warm hug. For my main entrée I decided with the rotisserie chicken and hands down it is the best chicken I have had. The rotisserie chicken is accompanied by rotisserie potatoes, arugula, parmesan, chicken jus. Then yesterday I tried their Banana Foster Waffle which accompanied by buttermilk waffle, whipped cream, caramelized banana syrup. This is the ideal breakfast when youre hungry in the morning - these waffles are the image in your head you are thinking of that leaves you mouthwatering over the thought of them. The coolest part is the coffee - I got a large latte while my friend got a cappuccino and it took awhile for them to come out. But when they set the coffee cups down it was easy to see why...they did the coolest latte art I have ever received. Mine said Coffee Queen and was accompanied by a crown fit for royalty. While my friends had a I Coffee on her cup with a drawing of a coffee cup. We felt guilty drinking our coffees because they were so beautiful. We ordered dessert as well to top it all off - my friend ordered the cinnamon bun while I opted for Raspberry Rose Macaron. The Raspberry Rose Macaron is accompanied with vanilla rose cream, raspberry gelee, fresh raspberries. The burst of sweetness in this treat is refreshing as the you get the taste of vanilla rose cream combined with the fresh raspberries. I also love that the top of the macaron has tiny flakes of gold on top. The host at Pierrot Gourmet is always friendly and has a smile on his face. The service here is really good despite it being busy both times I came in. The nice thing about this location is that you have the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The indoor seating is alright it is cozy when you are seated inside. The outdoor seating on the patio is my absolute favorite because I love to people watch and it allows you to enjoy the outdoor summer weather. Pierrot Gourmet has exceeded my expectations and I cannot wait to come back again soon!

What a fun afternoon at the bustling & upbeat Pierrot Gourmet. Located on the busy corner of Superior & Rush, this charming little restaurant has the feel of a bistro with cozy interior seating as well as a nice sidewalk-side patio. The restaurant celebrates international holidays. I happened to visit on the first day of autumn and the place was sprinkled with lovely fall decorations and was set up for the start of Oktoberfest (which runs until Oct. 9) The menu was also based around Oktoberfest which was delightful! Im more of a wine girl (ok, Im TOTALLY a wine girl and rarely drink beer) But, when in Germany (rather, when at a restaurant with a temporary German theme)..you drink German beer! I had the Radler bier with grapefruit juice (suggested by our lovely server) and it was fantastic - refreshing and I drank the whole beer. If you know me, youll know that is unusual so that means it was good!) Next time Ill try the Edel Kirsch which is a cherry liqueur thats 28% proof (yes please) SO many great items but heres what we decided on: Obatzda & Brezel (aka: Huge Pretzel and cheese dip!) brie cheese and beer dip, warm pretzel- the pretzel was tasty, soft & warm and the cheese dip was fantastic - nice smoky flavor Leberkäs Wecke german meatloaf sandwich, pretzel bread, mustard, house pickles, small salad - OMG! The pretzel bread was divine- super soft, not at all chewy and super fluffy. The meatloaf was super tasty - an interesting texture - more like a hot dog so it wasnt crumbly like some meatloaf can be. The taste was out of this world! Wiesnhendl half rotisserie chicken, potato salad The chicken was incredibly tender! Loved the flavor and the crispy chicken skin. Im a midwestern girl so the potatoes made me very happy - nicely cooked with a light salty flavor Wiener Schnitzel veal schnitzel, potato salad, lingonberries, mustard with mushroom sauce The schnitzel was nice & crispy but the meat was not dry - a great balance. The lingonberry sauce was SO good and the mustard was a great contrast as well. Desserts - I had all of them! Zitronen-Roulade - lemon roulade - sooo delicious & light Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte chocolate sponge, sour cherries, whipped cream Im still full from this one! Apfelstrudel mit Vanillesauce apple strudel, vanilla sauce excellent crust! Executive Chef Jose Fernandez and F&B Director Christopher and their staff are amazing! Make sure to check them out at other times too - the menu various of course and if the other menu items are as good as the Oktoberfest specialty menu, you are in for a treat!

Cute little European cafe just steps from Michigan Ave with a quaint shaded sidewalk patio! I loved the great flavors in the Golden Beet and Arugula Salad - $13. Warm goat cheese and date crisp, spiced hazelnuts, roasted Anjou pear, with a champagne vinaigrette. Large portion and even better as leftovers later in the day! I also loved the rich Mushroom soup de jour - $5. My friend had the Tomato Frittata and said it was great - $13, oven-dried tomato, spinach, feta. I will definitely be back for the pastry case and the PG Breakfast Flatbread that looked so amazing at the table next to us!

A classic Chicago hot-spot this place will not disappoint! Dont be fooled by its connection to the Peninsula Hotel and if youll get "hotel mass market food" - not here! The service is great, the coffee is one of my favorites - the staff know me know and greet me every time they see me! Truly a downtown gem and the pastry chef from France herself (so I here) make the best desserts in Chicago - truly if I want a taste of Paris and great food, in a cafe environment downtown PG is it!

I am very glad that I tried this place. 1. Remind me of a bakery/lunch places that I used to go in soho NYC 2. Food is really good. Their thin pizza is amazing. I tried becon pizza. So yummy. Their beer calls 321(?) Was pretty refreshing. Perfect for outdoor seating with summer breeze. Their togo whole chicken is also awesome. 3. Yes. Macaroon was good. Bit expensive..$2.75 for really tiny size but worth it. 4. Service is pretty good.

Not for locals. Nope, no wifi, no chargers, stuffy fancy. Quite expensive and neither the ambience or exquisiteness that would make it worthy of going to if you are a local Chicagoan. Of course, travelers, it seems convenient and idyllic in its way and the neighborhood lacks other coffee shop experiences that are worthy, so I dont think its necessarily worth hunting something down if you are staying in the vicinity of the hotel.
