Disappointing. Upon arrival Saturday night, street parking right in front, we noticed our reservations were unnecessary; the rumpled Tee-shirt wearing pretty hostess seated us promptly. She may have just left her day job at Portillos, so no sin there. Service was 4 star friendly, efficient and attentive. The giant Martini olives were firm and tasty, but, "HORRORS", the drinks were watered down; a cardinal sin worth a point or two in any restaurant or bar on planet earth. The angel egg appetizers were, well, how can you screw up deviled eggs? But in retrospect it seems the bacon was leftover, and other than the smoked salmon, the toppings were barely discernible. The pork belly and quail entree seemed a queer combination, with the common duo being pork belly and quail eggs. The quail was overdone although its very difficult to cook perfectly. The pork belly was the fattiest of half dozen experiences Ive had in ordering it. Oozing oil. The waitress flinched just a bit when I ordered it, but she spun around and flew away to the kitchen before I could easily change my mind. I was eating little stacks of Tums off the nightstand until 3am., while my stomach tried to digest the grease. When advised by the waitress that the Creme Brulee is merely sugar burned on top of pudding with a hardware store torch, we passed. Francophones know that Creme Brulee means "Burned Cream", and the flavor comes from burned cream within, not a burned sugar crust. American restaurants need to get with it. Their signature gold bar cake was awesome! Overall, its an overpriced TV sports bar relying solely on a cheesy Eiffel Tower to make it French.

I went with my wife who is stephanie and I would never return Ivery worked in fine dining my whole career and I know what should be expected and first off lobster bisque should not be cold and served with soup skin on it and fat floating on the top the soup was broken for people who know about emulsions, and my boulbaise was terrible and it was the special.... it was just a bad experience I had Heather for a server and she came to the table very little of the time and seemed to not care about anything, my mom ordered tea she didnt ask if she would like Cream or even sugar to go with it and when my boulbaise came it came without any spoon to eat it with... I know the chef mustve been off because the kitchen ran like it was being run by culinary arts student.... and to top it all off the check was 140.00 dollars for a 10 dollar experience and the manager didnt even ask how was our meal luckily my mom enjoyed her lamb shank or I wouldve just left in the middle of service and I dont know how she even liked it when it came to the table it was cold so no I would give this place a terrible rating go downtown and enjoy a real meal

This week was the third time I have dined at this restaurant, all business related. Our party of 8 was seated in the Vault room. The restaurant was fairly empty for a Tuesday evening. Overall, the food was just ok for the price, but the service would be rated zero stars. Although the restaurant was empty, the attention to our table was sub par. We waited around for drinks and even water refills. The appetizers came in a couple of waves, 15 minutes apart. The server did a very poor job with the service timing of the table. After we finished the second wave of appetizers, we waited another 20 minutes for the server to come back to the table to take our dinner order. He didnt know to ice the white wine. It was as if they took someone from the service staff or the kitchen and threw them out to wait tables. Very disappointing and embarrassing. We made it a point to have this business dinner at the restaurant and stay at the hotel. We will not do this again.

We arrived at 5:45 pm on a Monday, ordered our food by 5:55 pm (we had our two children with us), and didnt receive our food until 6:40 pm! Please keep in mind the restaurant was nearly empty when we first arrived. My husbands pork chop was way overcooked and underseasoned and my duck breast was overcooked as well. Not to mention that parts of my food were extremely hot, while other parts were room temperature--leading me to believe my food was microwaved! This was our second time at La Voute and definitely our last! Whats even more disappointing is that we are Homewood residents that want a nice place to dine, so I decided to call the manager of the restaurant to inform them of our bad experience. I left a voicemail message a week ago and never received a call back. Were extremely dissatisfied with the restaurant and will be telling all of our family and friends about the horrible food and service we received.

After a very long wait for something as simple as drinks the meal just really went down hill. We ordered the pork chops needed up being a tough very pinkish piece of pork, my mother ordered the lanb shank and it came cold, my son ordered Chicken tenders false advertising I know tenders and I know a big roaster breast cut up on pieces, that have been burned I ordered boulbaise it came with stuff in it that was not meant to be eaten like the end pieces of root vegetable like fennel and leeks; and because everybody knows you dont braise lobsters the lobster cam tough as nails, overall I didnt like it not at all.... it might be because I am a chef and have been cooking in fine dining restaurants for years but trust me take a few more minutes and drive downtown to a real restaurant and enjoy some real food..... and the biggest let down of all the manager never came over to the table to ask how was our night

We had dinner at Le Voute (The Vault) on Friday, July 3. Its spectacular. The people who opened it are serious people. They clearly put a lot of money into it. The building used to be a bank, and the vault was left intact. Behind the bare is a back splash made of old safety deposit boxes. The ambiance: Elegant and comfortable. The food: We had cream of mussel soup and French onion: Both exquisite. Main Course: We had perfectly executed lake trout, and lamb shank (which is not common in this area). Both exceptional. The service: Very friendly and very efficient. You can view details online. Then GO!

Second time. Same results. First time I went for lunch with a co worker and the service was slow and overall awful. The waitress discounted the drinks. Second time my wife and I went for dinner and sat at the bar. The bartender passed us by 3 times before even speaking. I asked to sample 2 beers, which she gave me. I asked about other beers that were on tap and she was clueless. Before it good get any worse we left and went to Theos. Simply put, this place SUCKS.

As a Homewood resident of 15 years, moving here from Chicago was an adjustment. There were few restaurant options outside of pizza. Now, there are many more choices, including this amazing place: La Voute. The food is fantastic, the drinks are amazing, and the service is exceptional. I highly recommend it for a high quality experience. Great for locals but also accessible via train from the city (Metra Electric line).
