Ill never go back to this place again. The food was good but there prices are extremely expensive. Margaritas averaged at $12 a pop, food was about $20 a plate, and a soda with no free refills $3 a glass. However the problem was there lack of hospitality. We had a party of 8, and we ordered our own food. We asked to split the checks and they proceeded to give us a hard time saying they will not and only accept 2 credit cards. They do not mention this in the menu. And they were making every excuse in the book. We all eventually paid our own way with tremendous difficulty and our group standing at the register for a half an hour while the lady fumbled around with a prissy attitude. If they would have just accommodated our needs in the first place and separated the checks when asked, things would have been allot easier and they wouldnt have lost 8 customers. On top of that they added gratuity on the check and didnt tell us. I had to have them mark off my tip. They were trying to get every dime out off us. Please be aware that they will not take off gratuity when asked, so mention it before receiving the check or they will give you a hard time.

My roommates and I went to dinner here after walking by a few days before because it looked like it had a nice atmosphere... and it does, especially if you can sit out on the patio. Once we sat down, our waiter took our drink order and messed it up. (Youd think 3 margaritas and 1 beer wouldnt be that hard.) When he came by again, I had a question about the menu... and he literally walked away from me halfway through the question. Then it was at least 10 minutes before he came back to take our order... The margaritas were good, but overpriced. The food was alright... kind of bland. And when I asked for a box to take home my leftovers, he took my plate and boxed it for me. But when I got home and opened the box, there was only a dry burrito and none of the toppings or sides that were still on my plate. So my lunch today is a leftover, very dry burrito. I wont be back.

The ambiance is pretty bad. Cheap small metal chairs. Almost cafeteria like. Limited appetizer menu. Guacamole was okay, but oddly, they do not have a hot sauce available, just mild salsa. I really wanted something hot, but couldnt get it. The service wasnt too good... They forgot my order but whipped it up in a few minutes. Over all not good. My menu smelled strongly of "old mop bucket". The food was pretty good. Mole sauce was very tasty. The $8 combo plate was a good value, good meal. But there are too many other great choices for me to come back to El Jardin.

I really miss El Jardin! I used to eat here at least 3, sometimes 7 times a week until I moved back to Texas in 1980. Have to admit the Mexican food in San Antonio is great, but I still miss El Jardins atmosphere, with Mama in the kitchen and all the family members working there. Mama used to make Guacamole Flautas just for me (they were amazing!), and they even delivered em to my apartment on Montrose Ave. or to my friends boat in Montrose Harbor. Glad to hear theyre still in business.

The food tastes okay but is overly priced. The margaritas are phenomenal the best in the City. You could be the size of Andrea the Giant and if you consumed three of their Margs you will be as toasted as a drunken Irish sailor. The atmosphere is always good for a good laugh (a block from halsted). The out door patio in the summer time is one of the best places to be in the city on a nice summer day. Drinks: AMAZING 10 Food: Taco Bell but more 4 Service: Good 8 Atmosphere: Comedy 10

I have eaten here and thought the food was good and decently authentic. People are talking about their drinks being expensive. They have a special recipe margarita on their menu that tastes delicious and has a good bang for your buck if you are out with your buddies for a good time. I am a graduate student who does not work and ate and drank (multiple margs) for under 25 dollars. If I can manage that I dont know why anyone would be complaining. Service was great and accommodating.

Went to this place and ordered burritos clearly priced at 11 i point to those on the menu and ask for steak, turns out steak is 6 dollars extra but the menu wont tell you that, they give u a paltry amount of lettuce/cheese/tomato and charge you 2 dollars extra for sour cream. Came out to 22 bucks for the worst burrito plate ive ever had in my life. And when i tell the manager, he smiles at me and rold me i ordered steak. Live and learn, glad it was only 20

I purchased a Groupon for El Jardin and decided to visit the restaurant today (4/12) for lunch. The food was not good; I believe we would have had a better quality of Mexican food at Taco Bell. The service was ok. I had a Super Burrito and my Husband had Steak Burritos. The best food items were the chips, salsa and guacamole. What a waste of money. Groupon should hire professional taste testers to taste the food before they contract with the restaurants.

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! This place was a horrible experience! The staff is extremely rude, not helpful, and they ignore you once you have been seated!!!! I went with a group of 5 and they refused to separate the check!!! They only take 2 credit cards per group! The guac is too creamy and way too over priced!!! If you want your night to be ruined, and you want bland food that is overpriced go to El Jardin!!!

El Jardin has fantastic homemade salsa and legit corn chips. The rest of their taco/tostada/enchilada lineup is pretty basic; nothing special, but not awful either. But their salsa is awesome, as is the bartender. On sunny days, the sun filters through the windows as the train rumbles past. A cant miss if you happen to be in the Wrigleyville area in the summertime.

The food didnt taste very good, as I have had much better at other Mexican restaurants in the area. My digestive system didnt agree with what I ate, Tums and Pepto were required that evening. We only went here because our "go to" Mexican restaurant is closed on Mondays. Live and learn.

This was the only place that was not packed during the cubs games. Its a little bit further on Clark st. Food was OK, but the price wasnt. For what you are paying Id expect wither better quality or more food. Overall average place. Nothing to drool over

Food is delicious, drinks are on point, staff is very friendly and the music is great. One of my favorite places to have Mexican food. They actually season their food so it taste magical. It is like a big party going on in your mouth with every bite.

My favorite Mexican place in the city. Weve been there dozens of times over the years, and the food is consistently good. The people that own it and work there are great. We live a little further away now, but still try to get back every couple months.
