Tonight I was walking after my yoga class and decided to stop by somewhere to have a nice meal and relax. So, I found this place, it looked nice and I went in. It was not super busy, outside seating was full, but inside was about 2/3 empty, so I asked if I could sit near the window, where there were four empty tables for 4 people. Server told me they cant let me sit there because Im alone and wanted me to follow him to the very back side of the room. I asked again, if I could sit next to the window, and he said he has to ask the hostess. The hostess came in and said: "Alone? Folow me!" and heade the same direction toward the very end and dark side of the room. I asked again if I could sit next to the window, and she said: "No, you are alone and we cant give you those seats! Were going to have more people later and these spots are reserved" By the way, there were no signs on the tables indicating that. I guess they prefer not to sit a single customer and have four (!!!) empty tables sit idle. That was an excellent customer service! I would understand, if the place would be super crouded with lines, but it was almost empty. I will never go back there! There a lot of nice places in that area with people with amasing people skills. And food... I guess after tonight I dont even care about their food...

The food was nothing special, average-ish, but the service is absolutely terrible!! We waiting 30-40min after we sat down to have a waitress get our drink order. Then we had to find her again because almost another 30-40min later we still didnt have drinks. It sucked that we had to tell the manager if he could send the waitress over so we could order food. The restaurant wasnt even packed!! The drinks werent great. If you want Mexican food and decent margaritas, theres a lot better places to go to like Lalos, Cesars, Fiesta, Patrons, DNoche and any other Mexican/Latino restaurant. This place was very disappointing. Albeit policy, but also an inconvenience is that they do not separate checks for a group and wont accept more than 5 cards if one was to split it. And I guess also policy, that they dont tell you about, is that in a group of 3 or more they tack on a 20% gratuity that you have to pay regardless of how terrible the service was or how rude your waitress was the times she remembered to get your order.

Enjoy Mexican cuisine? Enjoy delicious Mexican cuisine? Enjoy delicious Mexican cuisine in Lincoln Park? Then you should go to Tarascas. When I went to Tarascas I got just a basic burrito. I wouldnt say that it was Earth shattering, however it was a very solid little meal. It was trumped by the delicious salsa though. While You probably arent going anywhere specifically to get salsa, its really the highlight of Tarascas. As a big fan of Mexican food, I can say that this is the best that Ive had in the city thus far. That being said, its hard to find bad Mexican places in the city, as it has such as large hispanic influence. Either way, worth giving Tarascas a shot.

The host at the door was rude, ignored a question I asked him flat out before we were even seated. We asked to be seated outside but were moved inside two seconds after we sat down because the table they put us at was reserved. The chips and salsa at the table were the best part of the experience and were welcome considering it took them an hour to actually bring our food out. A family sat down next to us with a young girl and she cut herself on a piece of glass left on the booth seat. The actual food was lackluster and took forever. Rude host, slow service and apparantly hazardous booths, not returning to this one.

Mexican restaurants abound in Chicago. If you were on a 100% south-of-the-border diet, you need only walk 15 minutes in any direction before happening upon your vittles of choice, even in Lincoln Park. Quantity does not equal quality though and sometimes you just have to elevate your palate. If you have an urge to satisfy your Mexican-tooth, try Tarascas, a white tablecloth kinda joint. Food is good, margs are good, service is good, and the outdoor seating is awesome! People-watching along Clark: its time well-spent.

PROs: - Delicious, strong and well priced (comparatively) Margaritas - Great food, and again, reasonably priced considering the portion sizes - Very friendly service CONs: - Sometimes the patio can feel too cramped Overall, Tarascas is my favorite Mexican place in the city for a combination of food, drinks and atmosphere. Great place to start the night with friends.

Great Mexican food. Not too expensive, and a great place to go eat for a casual dinner. I had my birthday here, and they were very, very attentive. Great people, they are super friendly and looking to genuinely help you. The owners even came by our table to see how we were and if we were enjoying our food. I definitely recommend this place!

Great Mexican food! Love their selection of dinner entrees, especially the honey chipolte chicken and the caribbean chicken with brown sugar and peanut spice rub and a side of sweet plantain. Great salsa, weeknight drink specials and $3 bloody marys and mimosas on the weekends. Sidewalk seating in warm weather.

Pretty average Mexican food. Got the chimichangas, the shredded chicken was tasty but simply too much cheese. Distracted from the rest of the dish. Was not greeted at the front door and had to track down a waiter to get seated. Good Margareta deals, but dont expect to get wowed. Over priced and a limited menu.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Walked over on a beautiful sunny day to sit on their patio with my service dog - attendant refused to let us sit down. Kept asking what disability I had and when I told him he legally wasnt allowed to ask me - he got combative and rude. Will never come back.

Went at non-peek time, barely anyone in the place, server took order, left and never came back until check. No start up like chips and salsa you have to ask. Had to ask for green sauce. ... Food was good, but not great. Little disappointed for the cost

I was beyond amazed with the food here! I ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos and my sister got enchiladas and both were delish! They had a mix of Cuban inspired dishes as well! Great atmosphere and friendly staff! Prices were moderate to pricey.

I died and went to Mexican Heaven. To get there get the Burrito Tarasco, substitute chicken for steak, get it on Sun-dried tomato tortilla, suizo style, with 2 house margaritas on the rocks, salt on the rim. Enjoy the trip....

Great food!!! And the Margaritas are excellent. The staff is excellent. The crowd is pretty young on the weekends and seems to be a popular date spot. Best Mexican spot in Lincoln Park (although the chef is Puerto Rican)
