Went for lunch and I was truly disappointed. Cashier did not explain the pricing as I asked questions about the menu. I ordered bag of shrimp and sautéed veggies and a choc chip cookie for my coworker. I pulled out a $20 and was shocked when the cashier said $22 and some change. My coworker ordered salmon over sautéed veggies and a drink, her bill was $15 and some change. After sitting down and thinking there had to be a mistake with bill I asked the Mgr why my bill was $22 he said had I ordered my shrimp on top of veggies my bill would have been less and I would have gotten less than the 7 shrimp that came in bag order. So to me because I didnt want my shrimp on top of my sautéed veggies it cost me more.

Some of the freshest catches to encounter in Chicago. I recently tried the daily special for an early lunch (after sweating through a few of the summer workout classes in Millenium Park, it seemed justified) and found their lobster roll to be one of the best sandwiches Ive ever had! The brioche "pocket" was delicious as well as functional, and held a very generous amount of perfectly cooked, sweet and very fresh lobster. Its no secret that as one of the first customers for the day, you dont have to worry about being out of luck--its impossible to predict when the limited daily supply, which allows the restaurant to serve only the freshest and best, may run out.

Brown Bag is a local spot with exceptional food. Started by an Evanston native, the restaurant brings a much needed ultra FRESH experience to Chicago. Fish is delivered twice a day and you can never go wrong with the Daily Catch. I have always had confidence in ordering their fish and trying new things. A classic pairing is the tater tots- my favorite is the parmesan truffle fries. Their sauces are also to die for!!!! This place is perfect for a lunch with coworkers, after work drinks, or for a great meal if you are visiting downtown. They have 2 other locations around the city too! Check it out.

This place just opened a week or so ago and weve been waiting to come check it out. We only live a short walk away so we came on a Friday evening. It wasnt too busy and my gf and I easily found a cozy spot outside on a rocking chair. The service is on point and the music was playing classic jukebox oldies. I ordered the lobstah roll with truffle tots. My gf ordered the whitefish salad. We each also got our own red sangrias. We both loved everything but also cant wait to try the other tot options and the other fresh seafood options! This place is legit for anyone nearby.

Walked by many times and always wanted to try, glad we did. Solid choice, counter based quick serve style. Lobster Roll was pretty epic, grilled fish tacos also good. The coleslaw was a bit plain and the tater tots seemed a bit 2008, you also sometimes see more info on the fish (source, sustainable, etc) before buying at similar places these days - but these are minor issues. Seem to have some good healthy choices as well. Great view from the patio. Try it out! Good for most anyone, from casual dates to people with kids.

The food is extremely tasty. I had a seasonal sandwich that had blackened shrimp on it. The shrimp was perfectly cooked and there was a ton of it. I would definitely go back if I were in the area again. They could improve the experience by changing their ordering system a little to make it easier to understand. For example, you fill out an order form to place your order. There are signs on the table with the forms for takeout and dining in. Yet the forms are apparently all the same, so the signs just confused things.

The food is fine (its not bad but its only pretty good), but its way overpriced for food that is only pretty good and comes in relatively small sizes. On the other hand, the restaurant has a really nice modern design and cool way to order food. Ultimately, I think their idea of a successful restaurant is just to make a restaurant look pretty while overcharging and getting away with it because of the wealthy neighborhood its in. I think you can get way better food value at places like Eggys or Marianos

This place is fantastic. We split Shrimp Tacos, Fish Tacos, Clam Chowder, Thai Peanut Slaw, and Parmesan Truffle Tots. Everything we had was delicious. For the price you cant go wrong with Brown Bag. We both look forward to returning next time we are in the area. .. Also had the pleasure of trying out fried oysters. They were scrumptious. I would suggest not only selling them as an appetizer, but also as an option to turn into a taco, subbie, salad, etc. Keep up the good work!!!

Brown Bag is an oasis. The rustic interior is gorgeous and makes great atmosphere. The patio (and their original cocktails) rock. Thank goodness for this new loop restaurant serving healthy foodie food! Perfect for paleo or gluten free or sustainable seafood or whatever your jam is! I recommend the power box. Id eat here every day and still feel good about my choices. The bonus is their array of homemade sauces, including a greek yogurt ranch dressing.

Beatiful place. Went there for lobster rolls. Paid $24.00> tator tots????? The lobster had no flavor, bread was super hard even after it was heated. You may ask did u eat it all? food was pretty good I got the fish tacos with the blackened fish of the day which I liked, and the "louisiana tang" slaw, which was nothing special. I would probably try the tots next time. it was a bit pricey for what you get. the tacos come with 2 and they are on the small side. that and a side of slaw with no drink came to about $10. would probably give it 4 stars if not for it being a bit overpriced

Very good fresh fish well-prepared at reasonable prices. Nice park side terrace. Pleasant service. Cant give five stars, although the food probably merits it, because the indoor ambiance is spoiled by raucous music played loudly. Weve visited twice and this loud, unpleasant music seems to be a constant. A kind staffer turned it down for us, but sadly, awful sounds are still awful even when a bit softer.

Excellent spot. My family visited during a day at the parks near by. We each had a different fish, cooked in different styles and it all was DELICIOUS! They even had sangria, which was much appreciated by this Mom after a day out in the heat at the parks! Their prices were pretty fair and they have a limited amount of seating inside and out. Service was very friendly as well.

I read about Brown Bag through a review on Google. I decided to give it a try, and wasnt disappointed. I liked the interior theme and ambiance. The staff was informative and friendly. I liked the unique menu of food options, we chose the daily catch and the shrimp Powerboxes. The food prices were decent and portions were fair. I will definitely come back in a future.
