Very good food and the menu has a lot of interesting options. We have only been once so far but the family definitely wants to come back. We will bring some friends on our next visit. We had appetizers, pizza and main meals. Tasty food all the way around. Brisket was a tad dry, but they have great tasting sauce. I do suggest a good beer menu at each table or on the wall so we know the various types (Porter, IPA, etc.). I am a craft beer snob and I was even overwhelmed. Staff could be a bit friendlier too. When we arrived no one was there and you would think we would have been super welcomed to stay, but we didnt quite get that feeling. Maybe they are used to pick up orders because we saw a lot while we were there. I am still giving 4.5 stars because I want this place to succeed. Burnt ends...these were a bit too burnt and dry. Chips and salsa...handmade. Very tasty. Pizza...thin. We were surprised it was so good. Brisket sandwich...tad dry, but great sauce. Chipotle brisket...tad dry also but not bad overall. Mac and cheese...very good. Fries...family loved them. Mexican corn...too limey, but nice item on menu.

First time at BIHB on a spontaneous night out for a movie(Catlow Theater is awesome) and dinner. We had Strip Steak and Korean BBQ Tacos. Main courses were very good. Also liked roasted green beans. Dont care much for the dry black beans w/rice, but apparently thats how they prepare them Cuban style. Service was pretty good too and staff is very friendly. Try the Gelato. Owner made the rounds to the tables and even explains how various dishes are prepared. Small and cozy place. Prices are reasonable. Dinner & Dessert for two was $40 before tax. We had Agua, but looks like a decent beer selection. If youre a Motor Head then you will like the decor. 3.5 - 4.0 Stars.Well come back again.

Honestly Im not a huge fan of BBQ here in Chicago, Ive been disappointed at many different establishments. In fact I refuse to order ribs from anywhere except one place here in Chicago. When my wife had me come to Big Iron Horse I was pleasantly surprised. The BBQ is outstanding although I still havent tried the ribs yet. The burnt end and and brisket was incredible so Im anxious to go back and try the ribs. Make sure when you go you order the chips and salsa, just make sure you dont overdo it and spoil your appetite. I did have to mark a star off because the chicken could use a little work but other than that a GREAT experience.

Quesadillas are phenomenal. Cool decor, but limited seating. Nice beer selection. Ribs were very good, tender and juicy, but had very little smoke flavor throughout the meat, which was surprising in a negative way. Nice staff but took much longer than desired to get food. Brought our kids here, no kids menu, and limited options for the kids, even the quesadillas were a bit too "flavorful" for our kids. The brisket was dry, and actually disappointing. Chicken was very flavorful.

I stopped on my way home from the office to pick up ribs to bring home. Had some excellent craft lager while I waited for the ribs and sides. The ribs were fall off the bone FANTASTIC and the sides were very tasty as well. The BBQ sauce had a sweet taste and was right on the money. We loved it all. We will be definitely going back to try other items. Great place right in downtown Barrington for BBQ. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!!! Rich R Farmers Insurance

WOW. Just wow.this is a must try for BBQ or just a phenomenal meal. Randomly discovered this place on the hunt for something new, and everything about our meal was fabulous. Reimagined BBQ like weve never experienced -- the ribs with a sweet flavor, Korean Koji pulled pork tacos, fantastic beef brisket and meat that fell off the bone, incredible sides...even Mexican Corn. So much fun to have a new go-to place for BBQ. Try it all!

Been there twice and I had the hamburger. It was excellent, the staff are very attentive and the owner is very friendly. It is very clean and It is a very cozy place to eat. Everything I have had there was very good - all made to order. I would definitely go there whenever I am in the area. I recommend the pulled pork tacos and the Hamburgers are to die for! Excellent place!!!

Im from North Carolina so I am very particular about my barbecue and my sweet tea. Let me tell ya, this bbq was to die for. Ive never tasted pulled pork as unique as theirs; they may give eastern NC BBQ a run for their money...and thats saying something. The service was also very good. I recommend this establishment to everybody who enjoys to eat great food for a fair price.

I loved the smoke house BBQ cheddar bugger! The cilantro and the salted pretzel bun complemented each other perfectly with the Big Iron Horse BBQ sauce. This restaurant is quickly becoming my favorite place in Barrington for a bite to eat. Im a broke college student and this is the one place I overlook price because of the phenomenal service and quality of food!

Super tasty. Owner and staff were very helpful and friendly. All six entrees for our group were right on the money. My "have to get it right" BBQ food is brisket, and it was cooked perfectly with wonderful flavor and fantastic sauce that was excellently complimentary. Small place, but great vibe. Will return ASAP!

Stop what you are doing and go eat here! We were fortunate enough to find this place while on vacation from AZ and IT IS AMAZING!!! Not only is the food phenomenal, we met the owner who was the nicest guy you could possibly meet. Youre gonna love it!

we were here about 3 weeks ago. service was A plus . the owner even came out to say hi! the food is hands down some of the best bbq we ordered the brisket and pulled pork and it just melts in your mouth w a little kick. cant wait to come again !

The menu is great. Its awesome having a place to get smoked brisket in Barrington. Their pizza is amazing, too. The atmosphere is cozy and the whole place has that awesome barbeque smell going on. I just love it and cant wait to go back.

Just picked up a beef brisket sandwich for lunch, probably one of the best BB sandwiches Ive ever had. You get what you pay for, and that is definitely the case with this sandwich. If you work in the area, like BBQ, this is a must stop.

A very small place with amazingly good food. If you can, GET A RESERVATION. The restaurant is very small, and fills up fast. The food is amazing: imaginative and delicious. Dont pass this place up: its great.
