At one time, I would have given this place 5 stars. However, time has not been friendly to this once beloved restaurant of mine. The food is pricey for what it is. There are many decent Japanese restaurants around the Atlanta area (if youre willing to drive a little) that serve better quality similar items at a lower price, plus the facilities are cleaner at the other location. This use to have one of my favorite ramens and the best kushiyaki. Their donburi dishes were also great. Now the quality is hit and miss. Theyve changed up their ramen recipe (I think they got new owners) and it can no longer compete with places such as Umaido, Mizumi, and Jinya. Im not saying that Atlantas ramen scene is great, cause its not (I travel to Tokyo once a year to mainly eat ramen), but there are a couple of places that are decent. Now there is one less. The place also feels dingy and dirty and the tables are often greasy. I really think they need to renovate and redecorate their shop, as well as step up their cooking to where it once was if they want to compete with the local restaurants.

I used to love this place. I became a regular visiting at least once a week. Today I visited with my brothers who have also frequented the establishment and were treated horribly. It took forever to seat us when there were plenty of open tables. It took about 10 minutes to get our drink and appetizer order. We waited and waited for someone to take out order when he got the drinks to the table he asked if we were ready to order we said yes, but to our suprise he walked away! He walked past out table several times helping other tables and holding conversations I was very unhappy. I asked for the check when he walked past once again. The good is great in the least but the service is horrible. I will NEVER go back, I paid for my drinks and appetizer and they are lucky I did that.!

Not all that impressed. After seeing the pictures I envisioned an foodie sort of place for a first date. When I walked it it looked like a cafeteria. Like oak tables and chairs and benches to eat at. Very well lite unconfortable seats. The service was something from a take out sort of place, nothing but what do you want. And had a little problem with english. The food was really average. How can you go right with meat on a stick? I was looking for something a little more. The sushi was small pretty tasteless portions and the california roll uninspiring. I never rate but I didnt want anyone to think a 5 star rating for this place was worth it. I dont see me going back there.

Man I thought Umaido was good... Please order the Hamachi Cheeks (if they have it: grilled cheek bone of yellow tail) and the Tonkotsu Ramen. The Hamachi cheeks were perfectly grilled and salted. The Tonkotsu... Okay ramen experts: the noodles were "eh" and the toppings were underwhelming (no pork belly... And seriously, white cabbage???), but that pork bone broth was absolutely fantastic!! Its delicate and the true flavors from the pork bone was NOT overpowered by salt (like so many places). Definitely hands down the best Tonkotsu broth in ATL.

I had a beef bowl and it was fine, but my girlfriend had the spicy tonkatsu ramen and ended up with a face full of hives. No clue to this day what she was allergic to from that meal, but she eats Asian food on a daily basis so we werent expecting that outcome. Thankfully it required nothing more than a little Benedryl to take care of the issue. Service beyond taking your order and receiving your food seemed nonexistent for anyone not Japanese.

This place has great food. The Yakitori is the most tender, flavorful chicken Ive ever had. I also enjoy the shrimp tempura bowl and the beef bowl. I also like that they give you a little dish of pickled vegetables with the meals. It changes based on the time too: one time it was pickled eggplant, another time it was kimchi, and another it was spicy pickled cucumber. It is definitely a must-try if youre in the area.

Arrive well before the listed closing time, apparently they stop seating right at 10PM not 10:30. Since I cant defer giving stars, Ill give it a neutral 3 because I wasnt able to try the yakitori or the ramen, but what I could see of the kitchen made me question how good the yakitori really could be compared to places that grill over white bincho charcoal. Hope to give a proper review in the future.

Wonderful Japanese owned restaurant. Take your time with the menu and look for some great quality foods. Rice bowls, Tonkotsu Raman, Yakitori, Sushi and other options. Very humbling staff and made me feel like I was back in a local Japanese restaurant. I tried three of the Yakitori and the Spicy Tonkotsu Raman with a iced Matcha (green) tea. My lady had the Tonkotsu Raman.

I had ordered the spicy tonkatsu ramen and they got the order wrong. Cool, no problem theyll fix it. Their 2nd attempt wasnt very good. Broth reminded me of a spicy instant ramen packet with no deep creamy texture. Toppings of veggies and stringy pork were cold so I submerged them into the broth. Might give this place another shot in the future but probably not.

Went here because of the great reviews. The only good thing I can say is the servers are very attentive and friendly. I ordered the ramen with extra pork and an egg. Both the egg and the pork were put on top and were cold. Like straight out of the refrigerator cold. The broth was okay but definitely not worth the $17 they charged for it.

Make sure you order more than other customers; they will tell you if you order less than other customers, you wont get the food before the customers who ordered more than you. Capitalism at its best I must say. Go to I love sushi; they are way better, and most importantly, they wont judge you by the amount of food you order.

Weve been looking for a restaurant with authentic Japanese cuisine and Yakitori Jinbei is it! Weve been to many other Japanese restaurants nearby, but this is the only one that my father actually leaves satisfied. This restaurant is one that Japanese people can really enjoy. Dont let the location fool you into not going!

This is hands down the best yakitori in Atlanta. There was a time it was the only legit ramen house in the metro too but obviously that time has come and gone. Worth the trip up 75, just barely out of the perimeter. Service a little slow as everything is cooked to order on a small binchotan grill but so worth the wait

Just went there for dinner. Very friendly staff and authentic Japanese food. I lived in Kansai for 2 years and have missed the amazing food that you get from the hole-in-the-wall shops; this brought back many memories. Hard to find places that serve quality authentic international food from Japan.

Really mediocre place. I dont understand all the hype about their ramen. Its probably better than any other places in this area but it is for worse than multiple midtown or eastside locations. The name indicates a grilled chicken restaurant but their yakitori is too bland, doesnt worth the money.
