Even though it is not in a trendy area, this Japanese/Sushi Restaurant is in the same class (if not higher) as its peers in much more expensive Buckhead / Midtown locatios. A summary of what makesthis restaurant one of ATLs greats is: A great understanding of Taste, a Wonderful & Creative Menu, Great Service by a cherful & attentive Staff and probably the most reasonably priced menu in its genre. Dinner is always Great. But if youre looking for lynch, you cant beat the reasonably priced Lunch Buffet. The only thing wrong with this restaurant is that they are not open on Sundays & thereisonlyone location. But I guessthat this quality is hard to duplicate. Try Maru....you will be glad you did!

Every review I read was great. Food and experience. However, mine wasnt that great. I literally stepped out of this place and writing review from my car. Me and my wife with my tiny baby waited more than an hour for our dinner. Our waitress didnt even come single time to ask if we need anything. This is probably the shittiest experience I have ever experience. After long wait of hour and fifteen minutes, our food finally arrived and a different guy brought it. But it was too late for us so we had to pack our food and leave. May be its just one of those one time thing and we happen to be the one to experience but I had to say to all that this place is not perfect. DISAPPOINTED.

I have enjoyed the pleasure of Maru Sushi for years. I have been to multiple sushi locations ie. Taki, Nakato, Starfish and I get the same Dinner quality here with better customer service. Its more of a personalized experience and there is never anything left to chance about it. As for the buffet, if you compare it to Ru Sans or Pacific buffet theyre not even on the same playing field. This place is packed every day of the week with happy customers, sometimes I have to wait for parking! The quality is par none at Maru sushi, the fish is always fresh and the staff are always involved. If youre looking for quality and customer service look no further!

Love this place! Its a couple and one of them is always there. The husband often works behind the sushi bar in the evenings and i dont think I have been there when the wife wasnt there. Lunch, dinner, whenever. It shows, small places usually stay better when the owners are on-site and making sure jobs are done well. We started going there for the lunch buffet but my girlfriend and I have sat at the bar many times for dinner. They remember you, chat you up, and the owner has actually made an amuse bouche for us a few times. Note: One of the few places that carries ohtoro, the fattiest of tuna.

I have been a customer at Maru since the day the opened and have never had anything but great food and a great experience. Owned and operated by a family, who treats every guest like family, Maru is just that special place you dont fully appreciate until writing a review like this. As for the food, its 5 star quality. Thats not only my recomendation, but every friend I have taken or referred has said the same thing. Even friends locally have brought them up to me about just how good the food is. If you want really great Sushi, reasonably price in a welcoming atmosphere, this your place.

We just found our new date night Sushi spot! Smyrna really struggles when it comes to nice restaurants that offer great food at reasonable prices in a warm and friendly environment, but Maru couldnt have done a better job if they tried. We ordered 3 rolls, soup, salad, and a couple beers, all of which were excellent and were out the door for less than $40. The wait staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Best of all, the place just had that well-done sushi restaurant vibe that makes your experience that much nicer. Were already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommended.

Came across Maru while looking for a sushi spot in Marietta area. I tried the crunchy shrimp roll, Unagi don, and deluxe nigiri plate in addition to sampling a few pieces of some of the deluxe rolls such as the "Kitchen sink". Nigiri or sashimi can be hit or miss at most places; the simplicity of the dish means you cant just mask the taste with fried tempura or heavy sauces. The servings I tried at Maru were on point. I particularly like the smoked salmon and eel. Fairly impressed all around - the menu was extensive, food tasted fresh, service was good, and atmosphere was pleasant.

Ive been eating at Maru since it first opened many years ago. My best friend and I live in different parts of the world now, but whenever we come home, we always make our first date to see each other again at Maru. Its become our tradition! The food is amazing and reasonably priced for such high quality, the owners and staff are some of the kindest people youll meet, and they care about the customers happiness above all. The only thing is that I wish theyd bring back the live music they had a few years ago- it was also great!

Great variety, the best we have found in the greater ATL so far. They even made a custom role for me. Prices are also really good compared to the other places (your bill will be half the price - where it should be, as we are tired of paying 5 star prices for decent sushi). Lastly, the service is really good, not always fast because only 2 servers working the whole restaurant but never slow and they are all super friendly. Highly recommend if you are looking for good sushi at a casual dining establishment.

Im always a little skeptical stopping at places in Atlanta. We stopped in Saturday night. This would be concidered a "hole in the wall" hot spot in Raleigh, NC. This place had the best atmosphere, friendliest hosts Ive ever met. Beautiful on the inside. Love the decor. They knew some of the customers and treated everyone like family. You dont normally see that around here. It was a great experience and I am hoping my husband stops there again on our yearly trips we have to make to Atlanta. :)

This is hands down the best sushi in and near Atlanta. I have been challenged several times and several times my challengers end up driving across town to Smyrna to have their sushi. Joe (the owner and chef) is passionate about sushi and very creative with the menu. Sonhee (spelling?) his wife is an excellent hostess. It is delicious and the kind of place where they remember your name. Prices are appropriate if not a little lower than other places. Good sake selection too.
