I am a college student in FSCJ downtown. And I smell a good stuff. Seen smokes coming out of the chimney is killing, when youre hungry right? Today, as I was hungry like the other days. So, I decided to go and give it a try, can not resist BBQ smell especially when youre hungry. However, I stopped by and asked for special lunch but there isnt a lunch special. The lady seemed rude and unprofessional because I was not knowing what to eat or order. I can read people when they behave weirdness. I ordered what they have on the poster "Beef(BBQ) on Bun" and Fries. I am going to upload a picture so you can see there is no BBQ or a near taste to it. There is no BBQ texture at all. They know most of the people are not going online and post feedbacks about the food and services that they have received from a restaurant. Anyway, I sometimes check orders before I take off, but I did not check this one because I was hungry(simply). The price is hell expensive comparing to what you are paying for. A shredded "beef"(youll see a pic) and fries for almost 9 bucks"8.86." I just lost a 9 bucks which is something for me as a student. I will post another negative comment like this on every social media, so people know who are they.

I put up with their rude associates and lengthy wait times because I really enjoy their wings. I expect the service to be poor. However, on July 4th it went to a whole new level. After placing my order and paying, then waiting THIRTY MINUTES, an associate shouts from behind the counter that "whoever in line ordered chicken wings, we dont have any so well just refund you." I repeat - I had paid for and had been waiting for 30 minutes for my food before I was told this. Not once did they apologize, offer any type of compensation, nothing. They handed me a slip I had to fill out complete with my name, address, phone number, why Im "returning the item", and various other information. Then the woman I hand it to rudely tells me Ill get my refund in 5-7 days. 7 days to wait for my money back on food that I didnt get. Basically everyone in the restaurant in line (it was busy, 4th of July, makes the fact that they had no chicken wings even more ridiculous) was upset and not once did any of the staff offer an apology to anyone, or even a free soda for all the wasted time and frustration. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE SERVICE.

I love b-b-q and try to visit reputable places when traveling on the job as a flight attendant, e.g., Jacks in Nashville, Coopers in Raleigh, Bullocks and The Backyard BBQ Pit in Durham. After a recommendation from the Jacksonville Hyatt Regency Riverfront concierge I headed to the Pearl St. Jenkins with high expectations. A $30!! order of 1 beef and 2 pork sandwiches with three large sides and a drink was a big disappointment! There couldnt have been more than 6oz of meat between them and the beef was so dried up (like miniscule pieces scraped off the cutting board) even the decent sauce couldnt save it. The slaw and the baked beans were satisfactory and the corn nuggets were fried right, but for 30 bucks I could have gotten twice as much at any of the other listed BBQ joints and I know that Jenkins isnt putting any money into the facilities; the mens bathroom was worse than one at an off road filling station!! Eat at your own loss!!!

Pork sandwich ordered midweek midday. The wait wasnt toooo bad (8 minutes) - hence 1 of the 2 stars. The bun was old - couldnt bite all the way through as if it had been microwaved. The meat was mostly hard stringy inedible ends. I added corn nuggets. They were ok, hot. I asked for ranch sauce for them and was given a big packet of ranch dressing that for some reason tasted "off". Anddd I only counted 8 very small nuggets. They have a sweet bbq sauce thats pretty good though - hence the 2nd of the 2 stars. I went there about 10 years ago when I first moved to Jax and didnt like it. I thought things may have changed since there were so many people inside waiting for their order. Not at all. I ate my nuggets with the off tasting sauce and tried to eat the meat from inside the bun but ended up throwing more than 3/4 of it away. $9+ - bought sense. I wont try em again.

This is another LONG TERM Local BBQ Joint, Good Ole Southern BBQ. Excellent Pork, Ribs and Beef...always done right I Grew up eating Jenkins BBQ and one plate is NEVER Enough... They sure know how to Smoke a Pig...Southern Style. I have been all across the country and people say KC BBQ or Texas BBQ is the Best well I currently live in KC and have been all through Texas and I will tell you that Jacksonville has more places that know BBQ than any place I been.. Some people might think the Jenkins BBQ staff is rude or whatever... but just wait til you get that plate of BBQ and you wont care, cause it will more than make up for any hassles you had.. They earned a little attitude in my Book..... Keep Smokin Em Guys and Gals and we will keep eating

As if getting my order completely wrong isnt bad enough. When I asked to be reimbursed for there error. I was told I would have to drive to go get the food they messed up and items forgot. Like I can get more time for lunch to drive 15 miles to go get the items. On top of that the food was horrible and way to expensive for the quality of food and service given during complaint call. Woman was rude and had an attitude as if I was the one who messed up. I wonder if there food just sits around for days because sandwich had a funky odor and once bit into it cold and nasty. I just wound up throwing what little food i was given. This will no longer be a lunch destination for me or my office

Last few times Ive went there has been an hour wait for ribs... The reasoning: Last shift didnt get them ready, however, ive been at all times throughout the day and it seems if that is the case then it must be every shift! So yall cant cook more when ur running low vs. When you run out? This place has really went down the drain, nothing like they were years ago when owner was still alive and running things the right way. It shouldnt even have QUALITY in its name any more, just Jenkins would suit them. All locations have people working there who obviously do not like their jobs, and most of them are just plain rude.

FOOD = The Mustard-based Sauce at this Barbeque hut is awesome and delicious (awesome Mustard twang) even if it doesn’t make the food look very pretty (imagine brown Meat sogging up to a bunch of yellow). While the sandwiches are assembled without much thought—the bread is so-so—the meats are simple and grilled (I think) and taste great with the sauce. Very inexpensive. PLEASE IGNORE THE LOOKS = This small building can probably only seat 15 patrons and both the inside and outside don’t scream the cleanliness of a surgery room. But the food tasted great and this felt like a community place to eat and loiter.
