On Monday, April 19th 2010, I and 2 of my coworkers had lunch at the Counter in Roswell, GA. Since we work in the area we have lunch there about 3 times a month. However, after eating at the Counter this particular day I became very nauseous. I ordered my usual; turkey burger with mix greens, jalapeno cheese, and bacon, hard boiled eggs on a wheat bun with roasted garlic aioli sauce with fries. One of my coworkers ordered a turkey burger as well, different toppings, and also became nauseous. Needless to say, I had to leave work early that day. Later that evening, I had very high fever and a very bad stomach ache. Immediately, I called the Counter, spoke with the manager Amy, to report my symptoms and to let them know what I had eaten. Amy basically said she had no reports of anyone else getting sick and she would perform some checks on the food. Amy called back later that night with a few questions for me such as; the time of my visit to the restaurant and what I ate before and after eating at the Counter. I informed her that all I had eaten that day was a banana, tangerine, and peanut butter crackers prior to eating at the Counter and nothing afterward. The next day I could not return to work due to fever, stomach aches and diarrhea. On Tuesday I got a call from the Operations Manager, Paul Scalzitti, who informed me that the checks on the food were fine and to let him know of any further symptoms. I called again and spoke with Amy and she was VERY unapologetic at this point. She stated “no one else has reported being sick except for you and your coworker”. I think two people who reported that they became ill from eating YOUR food should be enough. I informed her that I was out of work due to eating the Turkey burger from The Counter. On Wednesday I was unable to return to work again due to the frequent diarrhea. Once again, I contacted The Counter to get an update. Amy reiterated the same thing; “No one else has reported being sick except for you and your coworker”. At this point, I became very frustrated that a manger at The Counter would have such a nonchalant attitude. My coworkers and I frequent this establishment quite a bit but after the recent incident, this will no longer continue. After reading the reviews of the Counter online, everyone complains about the level of service there or the lack there of.

Waiting to acknowledged for a "to go" order nearly took 7 minutes. At that time, I finally flagged down a lady waitress letting her know that all I needed was an order to go for my wife & kids. With no eye contact and no smile, she vigorously handed me a menu and told me to talk to "him" and pointed to one of the lights in the seating area. Are you kidding? After filling out my order, I asked her again who to talk to and she pointed to the bartender. This guy had less personality than a toll booth attendant. As I now waited for him to finish changing out two kegs, he finally asked what I wanted. I sat down, watched the sports game & sipped on a drink for, literally, 20 minutes as I waited for a simple to go order...not to mention that he walked past me 7-8 times without acknowledging me or asking how I was doing like a good bartender would have done. The 9.8% tip I left them was way too generous. My order came, and on the way out, TO NO SUPRISE, the same girl who pointed to the light, walked right past me without eye contact and certainly without a smile. I can get better service at the Quick Trip off of SR-92....at least a smile.

My kids and I love this place. And we love Five Guys too. You just cant compare the two places. Both are very good to excellent in food quality but on days when you can afford more, The Counter experience is more upscale and "sit down". And, nothing beats being able to have a beer with their excellent burgers (the "parmesan fries" are excellent too.....my son has to have these every time....) My vote is definitely for The Counter when I want to have a sit down meal and Five Guys is the staple "burger run" when take out will do...... The only word of warning for this Counter location (I havent been to any others)....... I noticed in my last 2 or 3 visits that this location is frequently visited by toddlers.... Having been through that (my kids are older now) I can sympathize....but be warned.....dont expect a "quiet" place necessarily.....the acoustics of this place is more the "noisy" burger and a shake joint ambience (and the shakes are awesome too).... I would highly recommend the Counter....

Weve been here several times and really enjoy the whole build your own burger concept. Everything is very high quality with regards to the ingredients. I dont venture out into the non-beef burger areas so I cant really speak for them. My usual fare is a 1/3lb burger with variants on toppings, buns, cheeses, etc. There is a ton to choose from. The sides are great as well. Their shakes are also really good, so if you are a dessert/shake/malt lover, you wont be disappointed with them. They handcraft them to order right behind the counter. Service has always been spot on, always friendly and fast. Our last visit was the first wed ever experienced any sort of an issue, where our burgers were fricaseed into burnt oblivion. I always order mid-well and these were fired way beyond well done. They took very good care of us and corrected the situation right away.

Only reason I went here is because of the groupon deal. Figured Id give it a try, the service is pretty slow...the servers are all kids, and they barely have it together. Our server didnt even know the beers that were available...Either way we ordered our meal, I got a turkey burger, but wasnt terribly impressed...Vortex or Red Robin definitely have this place beat, there is also a place called Burger Club which is good too. The food is really expensive for what it is, hell for $10 bucks you dont even get fries with your burger, what is that?? Next time Im skipping the counter and heading to Vortex.

The customer service was unheard of amazing! They mixed up our order so it took a bit to get our burgers and the manager covered our entire check...with out any complaints from us! The food is always spectacular and consistently accurate with our specialty burgers. It is amazing to find a place that cares so much about their customers. Highly recommend eating here, try a beer float!

I first visited the counter in Marina Del Rey, CA wether I was out in Los Angeles and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, when I found out there was one less than 30 minutes from my house I knew I was in trouble. My wife and I have been coming here for the past two years, its always excellent food, but it is a bit expensive. Highly recommended, especially the shakes and burgers.

The malt was the only thing worth mentioning. They say Industrial decor when it is just cheap and uncomfortable seating. The burger was small and dry while the order of fries was small. The atmosphere was tight and uninviting. Not worth it at any price. I will say that the staff was nice and modestly dressed. Other than that, I would have given them 1 star.
