A quirky little Mexican restaurant located along side Buford Hwy in Doraville. The inside houses a small bar tucked away in the back corner with the remaining floor space is occupied by square tables situated between ceiling columns and rectangular booths along the walls. There is an enclosed patio available for outside seating which is perfect in the warm weather. Although Buford Hwy run along in front, the constant hum of the traffic does not detract from the patio ambiance. The food is Americanized “authentic” Mexican which tastes better than most chain Mexican restaurants. The menu contains what one would expect from a Mexican restaurant, with vegetarian selections available. The house margaritas are strong, the salsa is tangy, and the meals flavorful! The service is super quick which makes this location a must for lunches! Perfect for families, business lunches, or a romantic evening out on the town. The first time I came here I had a great expirence. It was during lunch hour and it was quite busy but everything turned out great. The second time I came, the service was slow. I mean we had to ask our waiter multiple times to bring us a fork until the busboy asked if everything was ok. Our waiter was so serious and didnt want to make conversation. Honestly to earn a great tip you have to at least try. We told him one of our drinks was wrong and he looked at us as though we were crazy. I have been to other restaurants and this is by far the worst. The bathrooms were so filthy and there is no changing station. Obviously if you are a restaurant you want to please a family and this place did nothing of that sort. Never again.

This place is horrible and they are extremely rude and disrespectful. They messed up my order so I called to let them know and to ask to get it remade and the guy hung up on me. So my wife and I went up there to get a refund and they told us no. After being told no they said wait for a manager to get here. They called a manager and were told to give us a refund. Then they started talking about us in Spanish, my wife understands it. They said how they werent going to help us and called us the n word. Then one of the guys told my mind to stop talking and stay out if it and put his hands in her face. We finally got a refund but I would never come back here or suggest this place to anyone.

This is definitely my favorite tex-mex in the area. The service is always excellent. They see me come in and immediately have my drink and dip ready. They know what my boyfriend and I want to order, but make sure they ask us just in case. Once, we ate here when we were feeling under the weather. The next time, our waiter asked if we were feeling better! I suggest their mushroom quesadillas, located on the vegetarian menu. Im not vegetarian, but they are cooked so PERFECTLY!

I get excited just hearing the name of this place! Strong margaritas? Check. Awesome made-at-table Mexican guac? Double check. Late night saucy music? Done. Hidden gem. If you like Mexican food then you should probably visit sooner rather than later. If you dont like Mexican food then you should probably question why you are reading this review. My Mexican food expertise gives this place 5 estrellas.

Its not_great_ at anything, but it is *GOOD* AT EVERYTHING! Good food, good price, fast service, nice waiters. I love the lunch chimichanga. Chips are good, salsa good. Inexpensive fajitas fast. Some love the chicken soup (Im not a soup guy). Check it out, a big bowl of sour cream is only $1. Put together all the "goods" and this place really rocks. Ive been eating lunch here for over 10 years!

The best tasting Mexican food can be found here along with the best prices. However, the decor and bathroom is nothing to desire and the cushioned seats in the booths are so very uncomfortable. Needs a big make over thats for sure, but, when it comes to the food, there is nothing better. Bottom line, the food is what Im after and will recommend this restaurant to people I care about.

We have came to Monterry several times but only twice on a Wednesday. The waiter did not ask us 1 time how the food was or if we needed anything. The steak was burnt and margarita was super strong. Inly 2 waiters and 11 people in the entire restaurant but still got horrible service. I had to go ask waiter for napkins and for check. Dont go on a Wednesday ever!! They suck

Food is ok, service is ok except for one waiter, (he is a short skinny person with mustache), the problem was exactly when he brought our food he started touching his nose and he had his fingers on my steak with long dirty finger nails. We were very disappointed.. it was just nasty.

After being a regular here for a couple of years, I can say without doubt that Monterrey is a great place to eat. The servers are all incredible, and the owner is a pleasure to do business with. Try the Tres Amigos, and the beef tongue tacos on the weekends. They are phenomenal!

This establishment is horrible. They messed up our food and we called just to get it replaced and the guy hung up on us. So we went back up to the establishment and the refused to give us a refund. I would never suggest them to anyone and if I could give no stars I would.

LOVE THIS RESTAURANT! been coming here with my whole family since i was a little girl! Always great service, great food, amazing waiters and just the best and most authentic food ever ! Moved 30 minutes away from here but still manage to come, thats how great it is!

Food was delicious! Drinks were chintzy though. I had some sort of miscommunication with the waiter about my order and ended up paying over $45, since my daughter was home, I paid it and took an order to her. Id have raised hell if the food wasnt so good.

Yes. Yes. Yes. There are a lot of Mexican places to choose from, especially on Buford Hwy. Some have sold out, to cater to the bland Ameri-Mex Burford Hwy Tourists, but this isnt one of them. Monterrey is legit. Ill be coming here more regularly.

Best quesadillas Ive had. The tortilla had a buttery golden texture, dripping with cheese. It was cooked to perfection. We went for lunch and ordered more to take home for dinner. The service was great also. We will definitely return.

We were served stale chips / bottom half were crumbs ... need I say more? Ordered the Fajitas for Two and found the chicken dry and not trimmed very well. I hate spitting out gristle while trying to chew my food.

We are regulars here and enjoy the jumbo margaritas. The food is good, the staff is friendly, and they typically remember us and our usual order. I cant recommend the live entertainment on Thursday nights, though.
