On my fathers 49th bday we decided to go to this restaraunt and celebrate his birthday we do this every year he passed 3 years ago so my siblings celebrate it every year we decided to do it at this restaraunt and I will never even step foot in this place again we reserved a table for 745 and we showed up at 735 and the manager told us he gave our table away because we didnt make it in time where i went to school i was taught that i was early but that was just the begginning of this horrible experience we finally received a table 20 min later and sat down they quickly took our drink order and brought our drinks but 20 min went by and nobody asked if we wanted to order or acknowledge that we wanted to eat we had to ask if it was ok for us to go ahead and order we had a party of 11 and after they took our order sometime later after waiting a while meals started to come out a few at a time and we was only getting half our stuff for example i ordered fajitas they brought out the fajita meat/mix however i didnt get my soft shells or my beans/dip and stuff that went with it this happened to a couple of the meals brought out and we didnt all get to eat together as a matter of fact one person had finished their meal before the other even got theirs and that was very rediculous i have never seen something like this all in all this was a very poor experience and trust me i paid top dollar for my poor service the food was good and the waiter was very apologetic due the kitchen and managers poor service but never again!!!!!

So, we go out school shopping and decide to give Rio Grande a try for dinner tonight. He ordered fajitas volcan. I ordered fajitas nachos. The restaurant is NOT busy, our server had two tables. He brings my meal out, 5 mins later Jeffs comes out. This monstrosity bowl is brought to him. No plate. Just this giant bowl. He takes a few bites and stirs it around to find it is full of hotdogs! Full!! Not a hotdog, but theres like an entire damn pack of hotdogs in it. Uh, what?! The server comes back after he sees us looking at the menu again. He seems to be completely confused by this as well. Jeff reorders and gets a burrito. At the end of the meal the server brings the check and tells us that they will void the first order at the register on our way out. We get to the register and the man there is questioning our return of the fajitas. He tells us that the server told him we wanted to replace it because Jeff thought it was too hot. Wrong!! He also says fajitas volcan contains charro beans, and in Mexico they come with hot dogs in it. ....uhm, my ass it does! You know we googled that, and it is not true. So he adjusts the total, it sounds right to us, and we leave. While leaving we look at the receipt to find that he comped the burrito replacement meal, instead of the original bowl of hotdogs, and it is a $6 difference. We were so irritated by then, it wasnt worth going back in. #wecouldhavemadebetterfoodathome #postingtoyelp

When we were sat, we waited for 20 minutes just to get someone to take our drink order then another almost 20 minutes for them to take our food order. Then when the average quality food showed up, all three of us were served food on plates with 2 or 3 large chips missing. Mine had 3 and 2 were sharp. We told the server about the chips and he shrugged and said okay. So my wife went to the front desk and told the woman there and she said they knew there were some plates with breaks in them. She never apologized or showed any concern. Then when asked fkr a manager, she said no manager was available as he had just left. Then for 2 days now, weve called to speak to Mr. Alfredo who is supposedly the owner but all but one time when weve called, he just left minutes earlier. Today he was there but the same rude woman from the desk said that he was in his office and cant take our call because he was on an important call. All in all, the service was poor and the people as uncaring and unprofessional as you would expect from a mediocre at best restaurant.

Just got back from this place and it was terrible. They gave me a waitress who didnt speak English, so I had the hardest time communicating with her and ordering. For instance, my son was with me (who is two years of age), and I wanted to know what kinds of juice they had for him. The conversation went something like this: Me: "What kind of juice to you have?" Waitress: "Orange juice?" Me: "Is that all?" Waitress: "Orange juice is okay?" Me: "Do you have apple juice?" Waitress: "Apple juice?" Me: "Yes, do you have apple juice?" Waitress: "I dont know..." Me: "Could you find out?" That is how the conversations seemed to go the whole time I was there. I also requested a booster seat right when we sat down, and waited there with my son in my lap for about ten minutes before getting up to ask again. The guy only said "Oh, sorry man, I forgot." The food was bland and not very good. I would have rather had Taco Bell honestly as it seems to be about the same quality.

A group of us went to RIO Grande on 5/10/2013 for lunch. We all ordered at the same time, then all food came out except mine. I waited, and waited, finally after everyone else was done eating my food finally arrived. I told the waiter at that point that I was no longer interested in eating, so they could have it back. I was still issued a bill for my food. I then asked to speak to a manager, but no manager was there, the person I spoke to said the manager wouldnt be in until 6:30 that evening. I asked if I could leave a phone number, but have yet to receive even a call back. I have tried calling twice since then, in both cases still no manager on duty. We should have learned from previous experiences, and not gone back as about 3 months ago a co-worker didnt receive his food until the rest of us were done, so this appears to be an ongoing thing with this place.

This place is always terrible on service. they never come to you until you tell someone for the 15th time you havent had a server. I have now given them three tries and each time Im here is more disappointing than the last. Their staff is rude and condescending, I was just called lady when they were apologizing for having me sit and wait for 10 mins. They have a total of 5 tables in the entire restaurant and Ive seen 6 servers standing around. One of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. Ive been in the industry for a long time and I have never had such disrespect from an entire staff before. Their food is always good but its not worth the headache of dealing with the people here.

Im amazed to read these reviews I see below. Ive been going to el rio grande since they were at their first location off of mall rd since 2005. They are now in the old macaroni grill on Huston rd. I think their food is great and their service is hit or miss but nothing that has made me irate. Weve celebrated many of birthdays, graduation parties, and well cinco de mayos there and Ive had a blast every single time. I would say my biggest let down with them is that they dont give out free blanco queso with their chips anymore. My husband still swears they have the best carnitas. I hope If you read this you believe what I say and not those negative reviews below. Thank you!
