My husband and I were celebrating his 40th birthday this weekend (June, 2016) in Hocking Hills. We were going to go to the very well-reviewed Lodge at Lake Hope, but we were tired of driving, and decided to go out closer to our cabin. We knew going in that Millstone wasnt going to be good BBQ (my husband and I have a smoker, we know the difference). We were assuming it would be cheap, fast, and covered in a decent sauce (only good quality BBQ comes unsauced). I want to start out by saying our server was amazing.. DAVE, if you read this, youre better than this place.. Youre good at your job and shouldnt have to put up with this hot mess. My husband and I both had an excellent draft beer and he ordered the bacon wrapped brisket burnt ends. It was about what we both expected.. it wasnt burnt ends, and they were dry but ok. I ordered ribs, baked potato, and cole slaw for my main. My husband got brisket, beans, and mac and cheese. My ribs were incredibly overcooked.. like mush. They tasted like the inside of a fridge.. like old pork. They obviously had been reheated on a grill, but I think thats the only smoke they actually got. My husbands brisket was super dry, and only 2 slices for like $18. The mac and cheese couldnt have more obviously been velveeta dumped on overcooked pasta, and the cole slaw just tasted like old cabbage. The worst part was 3 beers, an appetizer, and two main courses came to $80 before tip. Dickeys would have been better honestly.. The portions would have been double, and it would have cost $20. The quality of BBQ was worse than Applebees and more expensive. Literally, go anywhere but here.. The decor was super annoying, the food was terrible, and the bill was enormous.

I recently went to the millstone BBQ for my moms birthday and first of all the server acted like we were a bother to her and when we finally did get our food it was the most tasteless brisket and the driest jerky like ribs Ive ever had and the coleslaw could have been confused with what a 5 year old would have made if they were missing some of the ingredients. The server flipped out when I let my 25 year old girlfriend taste my alcoholic drink (some sort of lemonade) and she didnt have her ID on her. From that point on the server acted like she didnt even want us there anymore going so far as to not even offer dessert or boxes to take our left overs home with, and to top it all off the server tried to force the tip by including it in the bill as if we were a party of 8 even though we only had 5 people with us! After talking with the manager about the bad service and bad food all they could offer was to take the tip off the bill. To say the least I will not be returning to this place again.

My fiancé and I decided to order Millstone for our rehearsal dinner for our wedding since we both enjoyed their food. I called placed a catering menu order (week advance notice) with one of the on-duty managers (Eric?). I advised the manager of the amount of food that I needed and what day and pick-up time I needed. I was told no problem, everything would be ready. So, on Sunday, October 11th at 5:00pm (my scheduled date and pick-up time), we arrived to pick-up the food and were told it was not ready and it was going to be another hour! How does this happen?! Millstone was quick and ready to go to receive payment for a very large order, but couldnt hold up their end of the business agreement by having an order ready to go on time. Obviously there is some type of mismanagement going on at this business; I will never spend another dime at this place ever again! Thank you for dropping the ball and being a total disappointment!

Ive been to millstone a few times now and each time Ive left under impressed. Yesterday I took my girlfriend there and we were told the wait was 40 minutes. Ok not bad for memorial day. Turned out to be an hour and 20 minutes. And when we got in we noticed a whole front section that wasnt open. Several parties had left due to the long wait, thats just poor management. We got seated and ordered fried pickles, burnt ends appetizer, and ribs with smoked turkey. All to the tune of 45 dollars. Pickles were nearly flavorless, the burnt ends were tough and dry, the turkey was incredibly dry as well. The ribs were the only thing that was enjoyable. Even then though, Ive had much better ribs at lower prices at chain restaurants. Even the sweetpotato fries were over done. Just an all around terrible experience. I will happily pay premium prices, but I expect premium quality. Dont waste your time. There are much better options in the area.

Amazing BBQ!! We visited on a Saturday around noon, so there was about a 20-30 minute wait. No big deal for us, the food and atmosphere was definitely worth the wait. We were seated and given drinks and some cornbread muffins, which were amazing! The food seemed a tiny bit expensive for lunch, but what can you expect from a touristy place (food was well worth the cost)! Our waiter was really cool and friendly with us, seemed like a nice guy and offered some suggestions from the menu. Once we ordered, our food came out surprisingly fast, and it was delicious!! They also had bottles of 2 kinds of BBQ sauce at the table, I loved the spicy bbq sauce! I later got the Spiked Peach Tea and that was pretty good, although you could barely tell there was alcohol in there..) But $5 for a drink from a place like this wasnt bad at all, and it was still good. Overall, 5 stars and we will definitely be coming back!

We just arrived in Hocking Hills and didnt feel like cooking tonight, so we came here. I had heard about Millstone from someone at work, so I kept it in the back of my mind. It was tricky to find from our cabin, but was well worth it. Our server Tommy was really great. He was very attentive and pleasant to talk to. I ordered the pulled chicken which was fantastic. My wife had the turkey and our friend had the brisket. The corn bread is phenomenal, especially with the butter. The margaritas are quite good too. It was also my sons sixth birthday, so of course they gave him a brownie and ice cream. We laughed so hard because they scared him when the staff sang to him. This place is definitely worth making a trip to if youre in the area. It was a great experience and if I lived in the area, I know Id be coming back at least once a month. Great job, guys!

We ordered the cheese sticks, Carolina Smoked Pulled Pork, & Smoked Pulled Chicken. The cheese sticks are good, but average. The pulled pork and pulled chicken are good, except for the burnt edges. The Pit Baked Beans are delicious, as well as the green beans! As for the BBQ sauces, they have 2. I think the hotter one was called "Hot & Spicy". The other one was "Sweet & Tangy". The "Hot & Spicy" is definitely hot... I usually prefer sweet BBQ sauces so I went more with the "Sweet & Tangy". It was a little hot for "Sweet & Tangy" though! We ended up just eating the pulled chicken and pulled pork without sauce. In closing, I would say I would eat here again, though I would probably get something I dont put BBQ sauce on. It was just a little too hot for my taste. As I mentioned above, the green beans and the pit baked beans are delicious!
