Let me start by saying first off my mother and I had planned to visit this restaurant for some time now after hearing so much about it. We decided that wed check it out on 4th of July which was yesterday, because we were craving some good old BBQ. I drove almost an hour to get to this place only to be HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED, it was the worst BBQ Ive ever had in my life. I thought my mother was going to vomit while she was eating she just kept gagging. The sauce on the meat is WAAAAAAY too vinegary, Ive never eaten BBQ that had such a strong vinegar taste it just takes away from the sandwich in itself. They offer no veggies at all not even baked beans, the coleslaw was too sweet and looked like guacamole because it was so green. The potato chips they give u are cheap brand no Lays. No ribs, no chicken only chopped pork the bread is cheap and the sauce is just HORRIFIC and that was a first for me going into a BBQ establishment where there were no options of BBQ sauces. Some ppl like sweet sauce some ppl like more of a tangy taste then u have mild, medium, or hot they had none. The Brunswick stew was runny and didnt have very much meat in it I saw no corn. Very big disappointment and for the life of me I dont understand how this place is so highly rated, all I can say about that is there are a lot of ppl who dont know and have not had good BBQ but this place is definitely not it! I lost $10 my mother $8 thats money that could have gone to a better eatery. We still had to end up going to another place because we ditched our food at the nearest gas station and ended up at Smokey Bones. I blame myself I should have done better research and checked out the reviews before hand. Word to the wise stay away from this hole in the wall!!!!! P.S. the reviews have got to be written by owner and his family and friends....SMH

Allow me to start this review by saying I visited this restaurant because a friend brought me. I am from out of town. I offer a non-biased, non local opinion. I am from Brunswick Ga. I have been to Stewbilee and have tried many variations on Brunswick Stew by Brunswick families. This restaurant does NOT have anything near authentic Brunswick Stew. The sauce is wrong, there are no vegetables besides corn, and the meat is wrong. I agree with many of the other reviews I read AFTER eating there. The sauce is straight vinegar. It has very little taste. The hot sauce was inedible. They do not offer ketchup or a sweet sauce. The only side dish is inedible coleslaw, its not homemade and full of sugar. I threw the two slices of bread in the trash. Now, after the bad tastes in my mouth.... The pork was the only option. No ribs, no chicken, just chopped pork. Really??? The pork was moist and smoky but came with the awful vinegar sauce already poured all over the meat. The meat definitely needs a sauce as it is NOT a 10 for flavor alone. Restaurant is in need of a makeover. Someone call Robert Irvine please. Meat 7 Sauce 2 Coleslaw 2 Bread 1 Pickle n/a Coke and chips--- best thing I had

The best bbq ever! They have a very simple menu: Chopped pork (from whole hams that they cook on a REAL 85 year old pit with REAL wood for around 12 hours or more), Brunswick stew (made with premium eye-of-round beef), and Cole slaw and the only sauce they use is a vinegar and tomato based sauce that goes on the meat when it is ordered. I have been eating here all of my life, and now I work there. I guess that makes this review a conflict of interest, but I am the 3rd generation in my family to be eating here on BOTH sides of my family, which I really cant explain how awesome that is. *If you ever experience a problem with your meal, just tell the staff and they should be able to easily fix it! We dont like seeing the few negative reviews we receive, especially ones that we could have fixed if someone would have just told us the problem.

Seen this establishment alot had time to stop in an try it out. ( voted best bbq in Ga ) I have to say I was Very disappointed. Walked to the doors thinking I was Goin to get some realy good Q just by the looks of the place, walked in and I had a choice of 3 plate lunches ( all pulled pork ) then I asked what else can I chose from she said thats all we have. REALLY I thought this was a bbq restaurant I was wrong. The only thing good I can say is what they called pulled pork was tender but that could be from how small the pork was wasnt realy pulled more like grinded up. The Brunswick stew was not even acceptable to b called so. These people that gave this place 3 star or more havent eatin good bbq. VERY DISAPPOINTED !!!!!! Will not b back.

I never got to taste the bbq,so I dont know how good it is.Nor the stew.Upon approaching the counter,I stated it was my first time visiting and that I had a few questions about the menu...she rudely told me that "ALL we make is pork, stew, and slaw!" Then, when I asked to substitute a few extra pickles for an order of cole slaw,in the party pack, she was very rude in telling me "NO substitutions!" Are pickles really more valuable than slaw? I MAY give the store in Macon a chance, even though I know Id still be giving the same inhospitable people my money.I will definitely, however, let everyone I come in contact with know about the poor customer service at the Jackson location!

Never felt this bad about paying for a meal. Worst bbq I ever had. Must give it an A for atmosphere though, to look at the place you think you are going to eat some great bbq. The smoke from the chimney, the rustic looking building, sawdust on the floor, a little out of town location. They had me going in but lost it on the menu! Never seen bbq shredded beyond recognition like that. Couldnt identify the meat(beef or pork? Maybe!) . Also only 3 bbq "plates" to chose from; no chicken at all! Saw a newspaper clipping on the wall ,"voted Georgias best bbq". O Texas how I love and miss thee!!

Ive been here once before-heard about it for a while. The food, is soooo good. But it was one Monday night .. At 745 my boyfriend and I came to just get two to-go sandwiches. I made it clear I knew they were about to close so I said we would be quick. Well even still, they were EXTREMELY rude and just acted like we were SUCH a bother. Our transaction took literally 2 minutes yet we were treated like we had been there 2 hours after closing when we had a whole 15 minutes ! I am SO dissatisfied and I dont care how good it is, fresh air will never get my business again !!

This was inedible. We were meeting friends half way for lunch and picked this place based on the reviews. We were excited when we pulled up and saw how busy they were. The atmosphere was great and just what you expect from a BBQ place around for 84 years. We got 3 deluxe plates and sweet teas. The meat was cold. The Brunswick stew was luke warm. Neither had good flavor. The cole slaw was decent and the only redeeming part of the meal. I dont understand the popularity of this place or how it could stay in business with this kind of food.
