Its been a long time since I sat in a restaurant, had dinner, and spent most of my time saying to myself (and my dinner partner) " I cant wait to get home and write a review about this!!" I was taken here as an impromptu surprise dinner. We pulled up and I was wondering why I had never heard of this place. We got to the door and I could see that it was about an hour before closing time for them so I was a little nervous about what the service and food would be like. The atmosphere is very 50s/60s Diner (dont quote me on the time frame. History is not my strongest subject). The hostess with was friendly and immediately seated us and let us know who the waitress would be. I perused the menu and there were so many good things to choose from! Sandwiches, burgers, meatloaf, mac and cheese. Everything my stomach could ever ask for. There was a lot to choose from but the menu wasnt overwhelming like say... Cheesecake Factory. It was only like 2 pages. My dinner date raved about the fried jalapeno cheese grits so we had to indulge. Those were sooo delicious. Almost like mozzarella sticks but with grits. They came with a cheesy dipping sauce that really enhanced the flavor. Great appetizer choice and a large portion as you can see from my picture. No complaints. I decided to order the Fried Catfish. It was the special of the day. It comes with 2 hush puppies and 2 sides. It was recommended that I try the mac and cheese and the mashed potatoes with "brown gravy". BOY OH BOY!!! This was quite a starchy, delicious combination!! I was in Heaven with each bite. I think the waitress thought I was crazy because my eyes rolled into the back of my head with each bite as if it was the first. The catfish melted in my mouth. The mac and cheese... quite possibly some of the best Ive had in Atlanta!! The mashed potatoes were a little salty but they were so flavorful and delicious. I tried some of my dates chicken pot pie and that was mmmm mmm good! Where have you been all my life OK Cafe?! Now that weve united, I will never let you go!! Please check them out. You wont be disappointed.

I have eaten here since day one..since they opened.. sometime in the 80s or early 90s when there wasa Texaco on one side.. Over the years I usually order the Blue Plate or daily specials. They are great and so is the chili and brunswick stew. I did hit an awkward snag and it was so picky on their part I took off one star. I was ordering a meat loaf sandwich for the first time in 15 years. You pick only from fries or slaw not both. Seem stingy not just giving both. That said, I decided to upgrade to sweet potato fries. She said the blue cheese dressing would be an additional upcharge. She then schooled me, saying "You dont know much about the restaurant industry." Maybe not, but as a commercial realtor, a lot of my clients are actually restaurants. I am sure those owners will chuckle and smile at the arrogance of this place letting wait staff School their customers. Idiosyncrasies such as charging for blue cheese dressing usually indicate a sign of decline. Schooling a customer is another matter as well. I hope they survive it.

You have a better chance of finding a $100 bill in the parking lot than you do a parking space at lunch. The surrounding plaza is packed. Once you get in, youre sure to be fighting your way to the register to put your name on the list. Best to go alone, and sit at the counter for lunch in my opinion. Once in, food is served quickly. I was greeted immediately, and could not believe how soon my burger came to me! The burgers, are kinda a big deal here. They are tasty, and plump. Juicy. The fries crackle and pop in a satisfactory manner when you eat them. The fries are season just right, and are just the right crispness. Id love to come back here and try a few more of the sandwiches. There are a number of entrees, but I am more likely to get a quick sandwich or something light.

They have good food! It reminds me of home cooked food. They have a take away area where you can come in a get food for takeout. I believe they charge you by weight not by the type of food you get. Theres always someone getting something in the take out area. The restaurant does a good business and its always busy. Not necessarily packed but busy. They have a veggie plate where you get to choose 4 veggies from the vegetable section. I really like the cucumber salad. Its cucumbers in vinegar, Mmmm! The waitresses wear a uniform too. It resembles the uniform waitresses wore in a 50s diner (or something like that). They are always friendly and pleasant. Its a popular place and I definitely recommend you stop here if you are in the Buckhead, Atlanta area.

This place is packed. I had the New England clam chowder. Tasted like I had white gravy on top of my clams. Lol. Other than that the place is nice and comfortable and even though its packed, theres no rushing off the table.... Love that. I only gave 4 stars bc of my soup and my salad had the bitter core of the lettuce. Not cool. But I love the pimento cheese and crackers, waitress did forget to order the fried pickles but all things happen for a reason. One of my kids got chicken nuggets and fries, and the nuggets are freshly made. My other kid ordered the bacon cheese burger and fries with a milk shake. We all left full. Great place great tasting food even with the gravy on my clams.

A pot licker is not the same as a pot sticker. First thing you should know when going to OK Cafe. They give you Tootsie Rolls after your meal :) How can that not make you happy? Last time I was there I ordered the country fried steak. When the waitress placed the plate on the table in front of me, I wanted to go hog wild. I wanted to shove my entire face in the plate and devour it like a wild animal! I controlled myself though. I ate like a polite homo sapien. I used my opposable thumbs and everything! I have never had anything bad at this place, and that is saying something. I am picky, sensitive, and sometimes a bit snobbish. So if I like this place, you will like this place! :D

A good friend and I visited OK Cafe for the first time since they reopened. When we walked into the main eating area, we were greeted by the Confederate Flag! Yes, I know, it is actually the old Georgia State flag. However, that flag was retired in 2003 and replaced with the current flag. What message are they sending their customers? If OK Cafe wants to show their Georgia patriotism, they should fly the CURRENT flag, not the one that symbolizes hate to many people - including me! I will boycott US Cafe and encourage others to do the same until they remove the hate from their walls. BTW, the food was - OK.

My girlfriend and I absolutely love this place. Its always a treat to eat here. The wait is reasonable if you get there early. Anything you order will be wonderful. Macaroni and cheese is unbelievable. I get my country fried steak with brown gravy. As a native Georgian, I must say that their sweet tea is perfect. The service is top notch and I love the retro diner aesthetics. Its a fun place to bring a group. They have a buffet style To-Go bar and the food is super top quality, and they even have a carving station in there!
