wow ... such an upset. I worked in restaurants for years ranging from Italian to 4 star cuisine. we held a small birthday party (may 11th around 6:30pm). The server was bland, and I often found myself looking over my shoulder for his attention. With a party of 12, we at least expected our drinks to be maintained. When our food arrived, our server was no where to be found until after we had well broken into our meal. With the introduction of a birthday cake, the server rudely made it known to everyone at the table (instead of just the host) that a $1.50 per person "plate fee" would be added to the bill because the Village Cafe did not bake the cake and we were told that the Village Cafe makes their own deserts which we all should have chosen. When we inquired if a birthday cake fell into the category of desert, we were instructed that it was company policy. (again this was announced to the entire table). after a clean knife finally arrive, the server once again disappeared. I constantly found myself hunting down our server. Appetizers tasted as if they were thawed and microwaved. At our party also were two small children, the food on the childrens menu (we chose fettuccine and chicken strips) tasted microwaved from a frozen entree. With the pricing of the food on the menu, we expected much more. Being a former server, we do understand they tipping process and were nearly "ashamed" at the automatic charge of 18% gratuity, which the server did not point out until after we had signed our debit and credit slips. Even with horrible service, we typically tip more than the 18% that was included in our bill. If this server had worked instead of paying attention to his smaller tables, he would have exceeded his 18% expected tip. Once we signed our slips, we never saw the server again. I dont believe anyone at our 12-top will be visiting Village Cafe again, apparently the horrible experience remained in our conversation for a few days.

One of the worst experiences at a restaurant I ever had. We went during a slow period so there was only a small handful of diners there, but the tables around us had not been cleared and stayed that way during the whole meal, our waiter was busy chatting with other workers, got our order wrong, didnt bring drinks until after appetizer dishes were cleared. I ordered a Rueben sandwich with wheat bread instead of rye. The sandwich was on a wheat roll with the standard sauerkraut and cheese, but it had a single slice of corn beef, no thousand island dressing and over a tablespoon of Dijon mustard. Mustard isnt on a Rueben sandwich, the menu didnt say it was served with mustard, and that much Dijon mustard should never be on any sandwich. When I complained, the waiter came back saying that mustard was on all their sandwiches as a garnish and all the sandwiches are premade in the morning (even though I specialize my bread and a glob of mustard is not a garnish). I grew up in a restaurant so Im flabbergasted by this whole experience.

Im from a different state and came to The Village Cafe after a day of not eating and visiting my father at the hospital across the street. I was immediately greeted by the "owner operator/manager/whatever you want to call me", Eric, at the door. My mum ordered the Classic Calamari Fitting to start off. And settled on the Seafood Volunteer Au Vent. Sadly I have had surgery on my stomach and had to order the Chicken Fingers from the childrens menu. All of the above was superb. But my only complaint (which is NOTHING AGAINST THE RESTAURANT) was the Key Lime Pie. I am not a fan of pecan crusts. But eating the filling from the shell was fine. All in all, a 4.999999/5 experience. Thank you Eric and Abby for the wonderful meal.

Jasmine was awesome and a great Bartender!! She gave us great service and her recommendations on the entire menu were spot on. We had the Gnocchi in cream Sage sauce, Ribeye and the Chicken D. All three were amazing and soooo filling. The atmosphere is perfect. The people there are amazing including the owner!! Oh, and although I didnt order my own dessert from being full I was able to sample a taste of my familys and all I can say is ask Jasmine if you dont know and YUM!! New things happening soon involving brunch. Please go and try on your own...you will not be disappointed!!!

Perfection. Parking is excellent. We were seated right away, drinks came immediately. Reasonable prices, we came for lunch. Our waitress knew the menu backwards and forwards, which we were impressed with. My parents are finicky, and like their meals just so. She assured us everything would be to our tastes, and it sure was! Our food came out in a timely manner, and was just the way we wanted. Their food is amazing. We all sampled each others dishes and it was all good. This is now our go to place when we get together. In fact, this is now my favorite place.

Held a large Sunday School Valentines banquet in their party room. The wait staff was great and the food superb! The food was delivered with a smile, very hot, accurately and very timely. I would recommend this establishment to anyone who is looking for a quite place to enjoy an outstanding meal. Rod, the manager, runs an outstanding facility.

Its better than before with great owners! I highly recommend you go here. Bring your family or just a date, but either way you will have a great meal. I was so disappointed when this place closed awhile back. But now I realize it was WORTH THE WAIT!!!

Did not like bread pudding until I tried it here. Whenever Im in the area, I always stop by just for the bread pudding. I really think the carmelized sauce is what makes it so delicious. Would give it 5 stars it didnt cost $8 for a piece of dessert.

Great food in good portions served by smiling faces in a relaxed atmosphere - really a nice place. The management cares about its customers and its employees, which shows through at every plate served. I highly recommend you try it!

OMG you have to order the steak. The absolute best steak I have ever eaten. Tender and full of flavor. No salt or A1 required. The salmon is also good but the steak is the best. The sides are good but nothing to brag about.

The Godfather frequently enjoys lunch at The Village Cafe. I am always treated with respect, a great Rueben Sandwich and coffee. Always look forward to carrying my friends to The Village Cafe.

Nice location across from Piedmont-Fayette hospital. Started with French onion soup and salad. Tasted like a bullion cube! Split the salad and they charged $3-4 more! Wont be going back.

We had a large group and the waitress and owner treated us very well. They were great in tracking the separate orders and checks, and the food was great as well.
