Just not that great at all. They seem to rely on their trendy atmosphere filled with old furniture, signs, and stoves rather than on quality of food. What I Had: Turkey Scrambled egg special with home fries, and wheat toast. Why it was bad: The food was just bland. It has seasoning on it - but the eggs and "home fries" that I am used to have other things in them to make them flavorful - like onions or garlic - these basically had no flavor. The turkey in my scrambled eggs was lunch meat turkey - it just was. I was pretty shocked by this. Maybe thats normal idk. The home fries were quartered potatoes that seemed to have been boiled, then fried to finish them off. These were def not home fries. Very small serving. Wheat toast - junky kroger style wheat toast with junky jelly packets. If I wanted this I would go to Waffle House - witch I actually like quite a bit, but a lot cheaper. Not good for the money. I could understand if Waffle House put lunch meat in my scrambled eggs, but I paid around $11 for a tiny plate of this stuff - no value for the money. What was good: Services was pretty good. The food came out fast - maybe too fast. Take some time cooking good quality food - I dont mind. Coffee was pretty good too. What I am Comparing it too: I live in East Point and go to Thumbs Up-Diner for breakfast when I want to go out. We were in midtown and had always wanted to go to Java Jive because the building looked cool and we wanted to try something new. Plus, thumbs up had a line out the door - really their only drawback. At Thumbs Up I would have gotten: Real turkey in my eggs, tons of fresh veggies, multigrain bread - biscuits made in house, jelly made in house fresh on the table - not in a packet. Home fries and skillet potatoes - full of flavor - absolutely no comparison. Your probably thinking, this guy works for thumbs-up. Nope.

Ive lived in the ATL more than 30yrs., now, I see why Ive always passed Java Jive by. Both times Ive eaten there, there was a pressure to order food almost soon as you sat down. The older guy (receding hairline and glasses) is very unfriendly and curt. The older woman (dark hair), is a bit friendlier. I was having a brief meeting with a friend over breakfast. I wanted him to experience Java Jive. After the cold reception, he decided not to eat. The guy three my check on the table and it hit the lamp. After all, with no WIFI, cash only (who knows that prior to coming), and obnoxious attitude of the owners? managers?, who wants to go back. I can get a better omelette and waffle somewhere else.

Second time there. Was skipped in waiting after I was asked how many etc at the door and waited an hour without being sat after that. Waiting area is too cramped for long waits as youre sat close to a bunch of people all talking as well as a table eating and talking right behind you. Ended up walking out. Its a 25 mile drive for me plus parking is horrible to begin with so I dont know why I bothered. Ill just go to Waffle House thank you.

Pluses: The food is ok; Ive never been disappointed by anything but not blown away either. The servers are hit and miss; Ive had good but Ive also had very sassy service too. And I generally tip 30% Minuses: No plastic — I mean come on, its 2016. Get a square or something and add 60¢ to every price to pay of it already. The servers are hit and miss Take out some of the object dart and add some tables or a proper waiting area.

Not really anything great about it. Coffee is nasty and their food is just grocery store "re-serves". The owners are greedy and you dont get much. Ive had three terrible experiences here and one okay experience. Also, they dont offer a newspaper for the restaurant at all. All coffee shops Ive been to provide one for customers to pick over.

When you enter in to Java Jive, you feel like youre being transported back into the 1950s. Its a pleasant surprise. I wanted to try everything on the menu, but opted for the special of the day - omelette with avocado, cream cheese and tomato. The homemade biscuits are delicious! Its a must try! And the service is impeccable. Its cash only!

Places like this get crowded for a reason - they serve fantastic food! The folks here are incredibly nice and always working hard to "turn tables" without chasing their guests out the door. I am writing this reluctantly, however, as I dont want to wait behind anyone else who reads this! Feel free to go anytime Tuesday - Friday! ;-)

Great breakfasts are served here. The scrambles, biscuits, pancakes, and everything else I have had here is great. The atmosphere is kitchey, 50s diner. Service is reasonably fast given how crowded they get. Of note they only accept cash. There is an ATM on site and it does not have ridiculous fees associated with it.

Coffee and atmosphere were nice. Granola was good. Home fries were chewy and burnt on one side. My ketchup was lumpy and seemed old and my coffee cup had pieces of food stuck to the side. The did give me a new coffee. I was excited to try it out since I can walk here but was severely disappointed.

Love the atmosphere here, the service is fast and friendly, and they have good weekend breakfast specials. My only quibble is that they run their griddles a little on the hot side (part of the reason the service is so fast), which makes the egg-based dishes a little scorched on the outside.

I would have to say the very opposite. I much rather wait three hours for flying biscuit everyday for the rest of my life than go to Java Jive again. The food was no good. Two gulps of OJ cost $2. The service was lackluster. Oh, but the decor was very nice. I could go on and on.

Java Jive has become a home away from home. The owners are the most gracious hosts and the coffee and biscuits are unprecendented. If youve yet to go to Java Jive, you have to try it! Weekdays are my preference because I dont like crowds and its always left me quite satisfied.

Great service and delicious scrambles. A really old school cool feel and decorated with 1950s appliances, furniture and adverts. The cheddar cheese grits and Santa-Fe scramble cant be beat. Keep in mind it is cash only but there is an ATM on site as well.

Food was excellent but parking in back was tricky. Only one lane next to building to get in or out and on an incline. A must see for nostalgia buffs. Great 1950 feeling. If you are looking for home cooking at a reasonable price you will find it here.

What a great find. Never crowded for a weekday lunch. Best breakfast around. The gingerbread waffle with lemon curd is delicious. The fresh blueberry pancakes are divine. The retro decor is so cool. Great spot to take out of town guests.

Love their scrambled tofu, their coffee, their freshly squeezed OJ, their pancakes, the servers who have an excellent sense of humor, the ambience, and I especially love the swing and boogie-woogie music that is played there.

Very tasty food all around and some excellent unique dishes. Highly recommend for breakfast -- if youre willing to wait just a little bit at the popular times (weekend mornings/early afternoons).
