positives first: the food was great (really great. we went for dinner); the staff, obviously engaged and attentive as they can be, considering how extremely crowded and overwhelmed they are... and, in spite of the really good food, it just wasnt worth it. nowhere to park. nowhere. horrible seating (wooden folding deck chairs and tables with cushions crowded next to each other. fine and kitschy, if you are short and tiny. if you are tall, nowhere to put your legs. and we were constantly watching our arms so as not to knock over a passing server with tray or knock over the table next to us). tables right up on other tables (we repeatedly had to draw in our arms to avoid traffic to/from tables and had the behinds of other patrons against our table/in our faces). slower than slower than slower than slow service (we theorize the kitchen, not the servers were at fault ( our waiter and those attending others around us were on edge about it. we were comped one drink, with their apologies). 2 hours for dinner. and we werent being slow and lingering. they were. maybe if we had devoted the time, but for a week night, not special occasion: it was slow. more than 20 minutes after salad before entree? no. and after we got our first beer, we couldnt get a second of same because they sold out. the only food negative was pound cake bread pudding. it sounds good, but do not go there. a horribly dry heavy mess. overall, it just wasnt worth it. we ended up more wound up than relaxed and couldnt even have after dinner drinks to unwind. no pouring license. so we had that somewhere else. a lot of potential unrealized here.

This has long been one of my fav Atlanta restaurants--and still is. Im worried about some of the gradual changes ive been seeing lately, though... what used to be an "Ahhh" inspiring unique and very eclectic decor has been changed out for something more mainstream. What used to be a very friendly, attentive, and casually professional staff has started to morph into a very friendly, but inattentive staff that seems to be a bit far too "green" when it comes to knowing their customers... often times I will get a server that seems to try so hard to be fancy and professional (as if this were a Buckhead Life restaurant) that it becomes awkward. Last two times I was there for dinner, the hostess had no idea of any of the requests made in the reservation. Remembering the previous visit, this last time I asked her if any of my comments made it thru on Open Table. When she checked, it was clear from her reaction (and the extra wait time) that she had not taken the time on that very slow night to ve aware of these details. I hope the management considers my comments as I really would love for SIMB to continue to thrive... Ive spoken to then before on more than one occasion and Im afraid that what used to be a very unique experience with fantastic food is becoming another random cookie-cutter Atlanta restaurant with great food and pretentious wait staff.

We came here right before our long drive back to Chicago. It was a last minute decision and it made our stay in Atlanta much better. The best way I can describe it to someone whos never been is... gourmet-ish breakfast food at very reasonable prices with outstanding service and fare. For 3 of us it was around $33 and we all left full. I ordered the panini breakfast sandwich with thick cut bacon and egg? ...it was to die for. It wasnt greasy, portion was perfect (I can eat) The flavors were excellent. It was just a traditional breakfast sandwich made into something wonderful. A friend ordered a granola parfait bowl that looked like a delicious mountain of goodness full of fresh fruit, granola and yogurt. The decor of the place was very warm and inviting with a few twists on traditional restaurant normalties. Our waiter was friendly, quick and competent. I regret finding this place on our last day in Atlanta because I would have liked to come here every morning and try out the rest of what Im sure is and outstanding menu. Atlanta, Im jealous...bring this place to Chicago!

The great: Food quality & taste. Each dish is freshly prepared to order, and plated with care. We have loved every dish & dessert that we have had here! They really know how to take simple, seasonal ingredients and make them shine. The service. Although it can take a while longer than some places for food to come out (because, see above), the service we have had here has always been top notch. The not so great: Dining room & lack of comfort. It is hot and humid in here. I think that the AC needs fixing (or needs to be turned on!) The first dining room is a pretty small space for a restaurant. Tight seating & close tables can make for some noisy dining, especially because the music in here is played pretty loudly. People tend to speak louder, to hear & be heard over the music. Weekday service- weve only been here for breakfast & lunch on weekdays so, we have never had to wait for a parking space, nor a table. Weekend service- apparently this place is a zoo during weekends, but they do take reservations. Lack of parking spaces seems be an issue on the weekends.

The food was excellent but the service was terrible and parking was a hassle. We did have a large group ( 8 people) and were seated in the back of the restaurant. I liken this area to purgatory. Sitting back there we were often forgotten. What was supposed to be a quick after church brunch turned into a 3 hour "Wheres the waitress fest?" I asked for natural raw sugar for my coffee, after 5 minutes I got up and got my own. The waitress finally decided to bring the sugar after I ate my meal and my coffee was half gone. We also had to ask for water refills. Before ordering several of us had questions about how the mac and cheese was made, the waitress told us "it was regular", umm ok thanks for the mouth watering description. The waitress general demeanor was one of "dont bother me". I would have preferred her to call in sick that day instead of serving us her bad attitude. This was my first time at this restaurant and I had been hearing rave reviews but the sub-par service makes me not want to return. Maybe Ill call in a to go order next time.

Sun in My Belly is a favorite spot. Ive hosted birthday celebrations, taken out of town friends, and recommended this place to multiple friends. I really hope we visited on an off day. Otherwise, I am really disappointed. We showed up at noon for Sunday brunch. I was very pleased that we didnt have to wait for a table-- which is a bit unusual. Once seated, we noticed flies--a lot of them in the restaurant. This was a major turn off. It wasnt just one or two, either. This is understandable with the doors constantly opening. Still, I wasnt about to have any meat. Next, came our entrees. My dining companion had a salad. He complained (to me) of unwashed greens. I sampled. He was right. They were gritty. I had the new menu item -- purple potato salad. It was delicious-- but I had a gritty forkful too. Finally, I was offered a refill on my tea. My tea was refilled (replaced) with room temperature tea with no ice. I still love SIMB. But guys, please do better than this.
