We drove 50 miles to get some treats for my birthday today. I was kind of interested in the kaessesahne but it looked dry from seeing the cracks in the filling (the way pudding cracks when it gets old). So I made other selections of two cake servings and my husband ordered four cookies. After dinner I had my Brazilian Caramel Bar for my birthday cake. It was extremely dry and stale (not just the edges). I wasnt going to eat the carrot cake today but thought I better just in case and found it dry as well but not as stale as the caramel bar. My husband was disappointed that he ordered two oatmeal raisin and two chocolate chip but got four oatmeal raisin cookies instead. The rest of the dry carrot cake went in the trash. It was not worth the long drive and $20. We were both disappointed. Someone else complained about the long wait. We did have to wait but it was not too long as we were looking at all the selections. There was one clerk filling an order, waiting on a couple, and ringing them up. She did acknowledge us and say she would be with us soon, then another woman got up from the dining area and waited on us. She was not eating and apparently worked there, so not sure why she was sitting out front when people were waiting.

We went there to spend the afternoon listening to music, eating brats and drinking beer. The atmosphere of the place is great and the group playing (Patchouli) was great. The food was excellent - we had both a red and a white brat plate which included the bread, German potato salad and sauerkraut. All were very tasty. Prices were fine. But the service was really lacking. They could improve it so much and make much more money by simple efficiency. We stood in line for around 30 minutes to get a brat and beer when there were only a handful of people in line. The problem is that they have only one person working who was very nice, but very slow serving. Also the beer line and the food line were the same which meant I could not go up and get another beer without waiting 30 minutes so I did not bother. If they simply put a bit more staff working on the food line and a separate beer line they could improve their revenues and customer satisfaction tremendously. We finished with some German pastries which were very good. Overall I am a fan and would recommend it, but the owners really need to look at some basic and easy improvements.

Last time i was there was in 1998,Oh my i bought so much bread n cake and loved it all! Today after 20 years i came back with my husband...1 hr drive.Lunch was great schnitzel and bratwurst very good!.I bought bread n buns, and i bought 8 different Pastries,,Bienenstich....cheesecake...and all the different crumb cakes....I should have tried one first! when i got home made coffee and looked forward to eating all the goodies.....I am german born and raised there ,never in my life have i tasted any german pastry with CINNAMON.I guess the old owner sold the place?.Anyway the Goodies went in the trash and i went to the E.R,i am very allergic to Cinnamon! $90 of cake down the drain. Not in any corner of Germany or even Switzerland do Bakers use Cinnamon and if they do its a touch in a special pastry but not in every thing!!! Bienenstich with Cinnamon so American and so so sad.Even sadder you people dont even speak german they looked at me like HUH??? Thanks for a good lunch thats all that was good!!! AND PS THERE ARE NO PEANUTS IN BEESTING!!!!

One employee cannot run The Villages location alone. For the prices Yalaha charges, I dont see why they cant hire at least 2 employees. One lady took our order, cooked our order, served us, got us pastries to go, and checked us out. The restaurant was full and people kept consistently coming in. It took a long time to have a simple lunch. We got our food, but no drinks. Thank God no one choked and died. Bread is a hard food to get down without a drink. Most were annoyed that this place was short staffed and 2 people walked out while we were there. There needs to be 2 employees at least on the weekends. I was also disappointed at the short lunch menu compared to what the original location offers. The pretzel bread had a strong baking soda taste and was really hard. It needs to be warmed and softened before serving. It was hard to chew and get down. Pastries were good. I think they need to move to a bigger location and make it like the original location in Yalaha, FL.

Bread and butter never tasted so good. Hidden along Lake Ivanhoe is this hidden, unassuming, gem. With an excellent spread of pastries and pretzels up front and whole loaves on shelves behind the counter, Yalaha manages to present an impressive selection, without sacrificing on quality. The bread here falls somewhere between homemade baked goods and art - its simple, wholesome, and pleasing to the eyes. Youll find the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable carbohydrate connoisseurs. The lunch menu is a very limited offering that consists of a handful of sandwiches. Theyre good, but not the main draw. A must-try is anything with pretzel bread, with a personal favorite being the almond pastry. For the truly adventurous, buy a German-style loaf, cut it into slices, let it stale for one day, and take a cue from another European influence and serve German-French toast.

Great variety of choices from pasties to gluten free items. They also have coffee drinks and fresh made bread as well. The pretzel rolls and buns looked delicious! Very hard to restrain myself, but I made it! The young lady at the counter was new, but she was very helpful and courteous to her customers needs. We had a very nice light lunch. The croissant with turkey and cheese was nice and tasty. As always the German Apple Pie never goes out of style and is highly enjoyed. As a note since we were here sometime ago. A new tall fence has been erected between the bakery and the market. This was slightly disappointing, but realise that things happen. We did not go to the Market due to this. Maybe a gate? With a lock when you dont want people walking through the grass, only open on the weekend? Just a suggestion. :) Much enjoyed as always! Keep up the yummy work.

Entered Yalaha Bakery of The Villages at 10:25 AM March 19. One older couple seated; one young couple at the cash register, a single man, then me, then a woman behind me who was on the cusp of a special day. At 11:59 the clerk finally rang my sale--34 minutes to serve 5 people! Inexcusable. I never plan to return. The woman behind me stopped because she had read it was a German bakery and she was on her way to Sarasota to see her father, whom she had not seen in over 30 years. He had come from Germany and she wanted something special to take to him. She, too, said "Never again." It is inexcusable to have one person trying to handle customers when she has to make specialty coffee drinks and the rest of us only wanted to by bakery items and leave the store. It isnt worth the grief.

Building looked inviting from outside, nice decor. I stood in line for 20 minutes for a sandwich with only 2 people ahead of me so decided to get some bread and dessert to go. The server behind counter told customers she didnt have ice for their ice tea and made them walk to the bakery to get some. I got the crusty bread, a chocolate crossant and loaf of whole grain bread. It all looked great, however, the chocolate tasted burnt and you could tell they dont use quality ingredients, ie: butter, as crossant had no taste and not flaky. The same applies to the crusty bread. There was no yummy butter and yeast taste. Same with the whole grain bread. It is so worth using quality ingredients when baking, and you wont get that here. Sorry I spent $15.00.
