I ordered pancakes and they brought me maple syrup in those little plastic to-go syrup packages like the ones you get at a McDonalds. That stuff tastes awful. I had to open 3 of them. Why would you run a diner and serve that kind of syrup? Go next door to Publix and get some cheap publix brand and pour it into a glass dispenser. Really disappointing. I tried to go back and get biscuits and gravy. The B&G were actually good; a little oversalted but at least had a lot of flavor. They were redoing their menu and we were told several times as we tried to order "We dont have that anymore, the new menu will be out soon." This was kind of irritating. My wife ordered french toast with strawberries, and they were gross. The strawberries had started turning grey and were mushy because of the length of time they sat in the strawberry syrup. My wife mentioned it when someone came by to ask how it was and he was polite and apologetic, and said that happens because of the syrup but it helps the strawberries keep longer. Fruit rotting is natures way of telling you to not serve them; prolonging them and reducing the quality of the fruit because of preserving them, especially at a diner like this, is a bad idea. I want fresh fruit and I want to be able to order the items on your menu. New menu coming? Great! Serve the stuff on your existing menu until the new one is out, though.

I have been going here almost every Saturday. The coffee is amazing. I sat at the counter this morning with my wife. It is placed right in front of where the food is prepared. Bad idea! I watched as they use the same counter to pass your food as the pass the dirty dishes right next to prepared food. The entire bus boy container is passed through where the have your prepared food. I watched the men take the bus boy container with the same golves as the ones he made my toast with. I was little grossed out. If the owner is reading this, there has got to be a better way man. Great food and coffee. Dont ruin it by not spending the bucks for a dedicated pass through for dirties. I would guess what you are doing currently would not pass inspection. I will be back, but I will never sit at the counter again. Lol

Our favorite place for breakfast in Winter Garden, not that there are many diners to chose from in the WG, however, the others cant even compare. A little off the beaten path but thats part nuance of it..They also have a great lunch menu and I cant forget to mention there phenomenal homemade desserts and baked good (Carrot Cake is my favorite!) Always have an extra that I can buy and take home with me..If you havent tried the Avalon diner then you really have nothing to lose to try it, you just might find its your new favorite diner too!

Great little place for weekend breakfast my best friend & I just discovered a couple months ago. Id go there during the week but they dont open that early, the only place I have found with one of my fave items on the menu. It goes by many names, Old Soliders Favorite, SOS, but mostly chipped beef on toast. The staff are always on point with their service the place is super clean food comes quickly and the prices are reasonable. Absolutely a must visit. When my family from out of state visits I will be taking them here.

Service was excellent. The owner met us at the door, and by the time we walked in, our table was ready. I had the special and my wife had one of the regular breakfast items. Both of us were very pleased with the flavor of the items, which were not over-seasoned, allowing each of us to get the flavor we wanted. The service was excellent, with prompt refills of our drinks and taking the used items away as needed. I highly recommend giving Avalon Diner a chance.

Heres my reason for 1 star. I love the food, taste great. But it never fails, the owner/manager, white gentlemen with grey hair, is not welcoming. He tends to walk the tables and we have yet to have a visit to our table by him. Atleast to not every type of crowd. It never fails. We return because we obviously like the food. Recommend the food, but the manager.... you be the judge of that. Just dont feel welcomed.

Its the Cheers of Florida! Love the people, the food and the place itself! Try the Pumpkin Pancakes in the Fall, or the Matzo Ball soup! Their eggs are the best too! We love this place! The help is friendly and the owner takes pride......Also, try the chocolate cream pie....its to die for!

Have been here many times and everyone on staff is great. We have also had Jordan a few times and he is one of the best servers i have ever had at any restaurant be it a diner or an expensive place like Ruths Chris....i always come back and recommend it for everyone.

Clean, nice decor. The service was friendly. Typical diner food, which is not a bad thing. They serve breakfast all day! Just would appreciate more unique healthy options. Loved supporting this local business.

Wife and I stopped in for breakfast and both ordered the special which was marinated porkchops, eggs and hashbrowns. The porkchops was amazing! Perfectly cooked and great flavor. Would definitely go back.
