We went there for dinner with a a party of seven, 4 adults and 3 children. We ordered food at seven thirty and asked to have the childrens as soon as possible. We ordered soups and dinners. The Conk Chowder was very bland, and the clam chowder should have been called clamless chowder, it was only cream broth. 3 of the 4 dinner salads served were very good, my wifes was wilted and warm and disgusting. at nine oclock, we started to complain wanting to know were are dinners were. People at other tables were coming and going. The waitress was very nice, coming up with many reasons we werent getting our food. When the food finally arrived, it was not hot, it must have sat for a while. One of the childrens food didnt arrive until way after everyone got their food. I had the seafood combo of coconut shrimp and clams. Maybe it was greasy because it was served warm, but it was not good. My wife had broiled BASA fish, which she returned because it was cold. In general, everyone said they would not go back there because it wasnt good and the service was horrible. The manager did give us 25% off the check, I think they should have comped the whole meal because they ruined our evening.

We stopped in after reading a lot of positive reviews. We went to the location on 41, and it was quite a bit different than I expected. Very much a dive, which is not a bad thing. The smell was almost unbearable, definitely the worst part of the experience. I had the fresh fish special, which wasnt as good as I had hoped. In this case fresh seems to mean never frozen, which is not my definition of fresh. The rest of the food was OK, but nothing to get excited about. I chose this over the Shrimp Shack, and next time Ill definitely try Shrimp Shack instead. If I had it to do over again I would have gone with ordinary seafood like the NE Clam Chowder and one of the shrimp entrees. The service was good, no complaints there. In summary, if you can keep your expectations in check, and if you are ok with an overbearing smell of seafood, and I mean overbearing, then this might be the place for you. To put it in perspective, think of the worst smelling fresh seafood counter at a chain grocery, multiply the smell by 10x and youd be close to the smell here.

My wife and I are seafood lovers. We try different places for establishment, presentation, food quality and price. Our 1st impression was the restaurant used 1970s wobbly table and chairs. Then the menus are sticky with way overpriced items. Our waitress never told her name and said " what it be!" When we ordered is was slow to get the food, served on cheap whit plastic plates and tiny portions for a $14.00 meal. The 4 scallops were rubbery at a price of $11.50. We informed the waitress the tasteless scallops and she left then came with our Check and left. We shared a dinner plus scallops and 2 drinks come to $44.00 at a rundown messy place. We ate at Blue Point oyster Bar and Bone Fish Grill with larger portions, tastier foods , great cocktails and more elegant setting at the same price of this place. Skip One has a great website of fresh seafood but no photos of the inside and portions that show the truth. Other seafood restaurants serve fresh seafood as well. Skip One talk too much... deliver little to none! We will never come back!

I was driving around looking for the "hole in the wall" type of restaurant. I have never heard of this place, and when I saw the outside, I was like, "lets go there and try it". Never, ever judge a book by its cover. I felt there was something about this place when we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The food in this place was FANTASTIC and rightfully priced. The fried shrimp popped in your mouth, it was cooked to perfection. My wife is from the Bahamas, and she said the Bahamian conch chowder was cooked to perfection and was the best she has ever had (conch pieces were a little small though). My blackened mahi mahi was large in portion and succulent in flavor. We ordered: 2 X Heinekens, 2 X Sodas, 2 X Salad and Chowder (New England and Bahamian), 2 X Conch Fritters (8 pieces each), 1 X Childs fried shrimp and fries, 1/2 pound of spicy steamed shrimp, and the blackened mahi mahi. Total cost minus tip, $71.71. All you Yankees stay away from this place, leave it for the locals to enjoy.

While driving through from Ft Meyers to spend a week in Cayo Costa, I noticed this little dumpy seafood restaurant - with a big crowd of people outside. My father and I stopped to get a bite to eat, and I fell in love. This unassuming little market and restaurant has some of the freshest, most delicious and reasonably priced seafood Ive ever eaten, anywhere in my life. If you want a stuffy, tie and business suit seafood ordeal, then this will be a disappointment, but if you like great food in a down-to-earth environment, then youre in for a real treat. My review - Perfect. 5 out of 5. Hands down one of my favorite places to stop in and eat, from British Columbia to the Yucatan. My recommendation - come ready to have fun, order some fresh fried gator, perfectly tender sea scallops and flaky, savory grouper, kick back with a cold beer or soda, and enjoy.

We had heard that this is where the locals hang out and they have the best grouper around. We first read the reviews and it had almost all great ones. So we gave it a try last night. I am just beginning to feel better after the fishy grouper I ate last night. My husband ordered the blackened and I ordered the fried. The first bite tasted fishy but I thought it was an end so it would get better. Each bite was worse than the one before. I order grouper almost everywhere I go and have NEVER had fishy grouper. I was so disappointed and will never go back. I dont understand what people are raving about but I understand the review that was written that the place smelled fishy and was terrible. I totally agree. Very disappointed.

Hard to believe it took us 3 1/2 years of us living here to find this great place. Lots of fried seafood but other cooking options as well. If you are looking for linen table cloth atmosphere dont go to Skip Ones, if you are impatient and need to get to a table right away then dont go to Skip Ones. However if you are looking for friendly waitstaff and really really good food then take the time to stop and enjoy every bite. Fried clams, fried oysters, fried shrimp, fried scallops and fried grouper are the choices we had and it was all fresh and battered to ordered. The clam chowder was thick and creamy and very tasty. We cant wait to get this place added to our calendar of future places to eat at.

Hwy 41 -Yes! San Carlos Blvd - NO! Even though we live closer to their SCB location, we make the drive to the Hwy 41 spot because theres SO much difference! Sadly, we never had a good meal, or svc, at the San Carlos Blvd but the original on 41 has been consistently good! Their fried oysters ... a pile of just right coated, golden fried to perfection deliciousness! The family loves their shrimp (every way they cook it) and the fried clams too. Weve been going here for several years and only once have we had an off night and it was when the Mgr and owner were both gone. It may be a little hole-in-the-wall place, but those are usually little hidden gems, like this place.
