Very nice location, right on Lake Dora. However, the food wasnt great, nor was the service. Drinks were served in plastic party cups, not glassware. Silverware was also plastic. The food arrived to our table at room temperature and was mediocre at best. Service was slow, even though there were roughly 12 patrons for 4 members of wait staff. I expected more from Als Sand Bar. More seafood on the menu, (since theyre right on the water and give the impression that theyre a seafood type restaurant/bar.) I wont be returning, especially not for food.

Used to love coming to the Sand Box the food was good great view frendly. New owner changed menu there were three of us all ordering different items. My hamburger was so bad I wouldnt even bring it home to my dog. It and the other items were left in the garbage can. If I didnt have guests I would have talked to the owner or manager. No one enjoyed the food. Why when u take over a propular spot why do u change the menu to poor quality food n charge more n think it will work out for u? We wont be back.

We went on a Sunday night, there were no drink specials. I find that odd since it was a Sunday night during the summer. Mixed drinks were around $8 each. The server was nice, when she didnt have all the ingredients for my bahama mama she apologized and told me if I didnt like it that she would make me something else. I actually did lonely and she prorated that cost considering the missing ingredients. Which was going above and beyond in my book.

Great place to sit outside and enjoy the great Florida weather. I ordered a Burger and fries that were pretty good. Only negatives were that the food took a little long to be delivered (about 30 minutes). I also order water pretty much exclusively and they brought a bottled water instead of a cup of water. The bottled water is $1.50. Overall I enjoyed my experience.

This place is now called Kalua Hale. I went there today with my wife. We waited an hour for a hot dog and taco salad, then left without getting served. There didnt appear to be a manager and all we saw coming out of the kitchen was a very black hamburger every once in a while. Do yourself a favor, have a beer here and go eat at a restaurant.

Closes at 10, service very slow.. no longer als sand bar, its kalua or kaula beach bar, 2different signs with different spelling. Got here at 9 and kitchen was already closed.. drinks are very weak, over charging for watered down drinks, food was great the last time i was here as it was Als. Didnt get to try it this time

Great location! Food not so good. Beer...Owner needs a lesson in imports. Charged $6.00 for a plastic cup of Goose Island claiming import. From where Chicago? Good thing is there are other great eats close by!

Great atmosphere, but the worse service I have ever experienced (and I eat out a lot). Sitting here with no food and ordered a hour and 15 min ago... plus waitress is no where to be found

Sandy Beach with beach chairs,...great atmosphere, ambiance, service, food and live music and they have a jam night where anyone can get up and play,...gotta bring my ax next time!!!!
