Just ate here today with my wife for lunch. Waitress and the chef were very nice. The ginger salad was great. The sushi got to the table though and that was unfortunately where the please of the trip ended. I ordered the sushi sashimi combo lunch platter and my wife had two rolls (bagel and "crunchy" spicy tuna) Her tuna roll was more the consistency of toothpaste than anything else. My food was however the worst of the lot. The fish was cut way too thick and was slightly room temp if not a bit warm. My first bite was what I assume was shrimp of some sort because as I chewed it, a taste filled my mouth that brought memories of pier fishing with dead shrimp rushing back into my head. At that point wife tasted the whitefish and quickly told me to stay away from it. Stuck to the tuna and salmon which were mostly passable although even the rice was too thick and sprawled out all over the place. We frequent Toki on Dale Mabry and this experience quickly reminded us why...

My office is nearby and a few co-workers and I decided to order and try Tomo Sushi. I usually go to SoHo Sushi North down the road (which is fabulous) but figured Id try Tomo. I ordered a spicy tuna roll and a spicy salmon roll. The minute I opened the box the it smelt of very unfresh fish. The rolls were just that. It wasnt even fish, it was orange fish and smelt roe mayo mush that probably came from a jar and definitely was not fresh. The taste was just awful. A sushi roll should have pieces of fresh fish in it, not orange mush inside a poorly and loose wrapped roll of rice. Im sorry Tomo but I have to be honest. Im an avid sushi eater and this is just the worst Ive ever had. Even Publixs pre-packaged rolls far exceeds that of Tomo. After spending over $10 on two rolls I ate one piece from each and trashed the rest.

I have been eating Sushi since my 20s (Im in my late 40s now) Tomo is a very personal place to me for both the food and the owners. For those who judge a place simply by ONE visit and actually comment (good or bad) obviously has no clue what a true review SHOULD be. Everyone can have a bad experience or a good experience in just one visit.. but to review a place based on that one visit is not kind nor does it help a place. After many years of eating here, I can truly assess this place. I quite frankly love it. Lee is a really good person and takes pride in what he does. The rolls are delicious and fresh. I have always been told to throw out 10% of the bad reviews and 10% of the good and what is left are the true reviews. Do this for this place. Youll love it.

TOMO is simply the best around and thats coming from our wealth of experience eating at all the spots in Tampa. They have the best spicy tuna roll around, hands down! They ground up the meat so the portions of meat in the roll are much more generous than that of the other sushi places ( you know those where you only get a tiny sliver of fish.) Lee treats you like family and makes sure youre taken care of. Weve been coming here for years and will continue to call it our favorite little date night spot :) Sincerely

The quality of this sushi leaves something to be desired.... The seaweed salad was slimy and the rolls looked and tasted terrible. Overall quality and taste was very bad. Soho sushi, sushi alive, or ocean blue next time. Never again this place!!!! To all the previous reviews of fresh quality and great presentation, you probably dont eat enough sushi to know the difference. Any experienced sushi eater knows that this place is CRAP!!!!

I am an avid foodie and sushi happens to be my fortè. I like to stick to the popular food items at any restaurant since those will be the focus of any establishment. I found this place to be multi-talented with a fusion of Japanese and Korean inspired dishes. I got the Spicy Tuna Roll,Tampa Roll as well as the Bulgogi which I found to be savory. The staff are really polite. Will be back.

Our office orders from here regularly and the food has always been consistently good and the service fair. We have had a few hiccups here and there, but it has always worked out. The only thing I would be area of it that Ive had a couple instances where their "Lunch Special Menu" listed on the website does not match their in-house printed menu.

Simply the best sushi in town! If you want some quality traditional sushi look no further. The quality of the fish is always top notch and is cut perfectly. My favorite place in town to get my sushi fix. (I recommend the Tomo roll if u liked cooked sushi or Arizona roll for a simple but delicious raw sushi roll).

So very good! Ordered the Rainbow roll, smelt roe (masago?) and the egg (tobiko? Sorry Im rusty in remembering!) sushi. Delicious and beautifully presented. And the green tea was perfect in temperature and flavor. The staff were lovely, the place was very clean and I will definitely be back again soon.

Went there for an early Valentines dinner - had found on the web and it had decent reviews. Had their "Tomo Box" and hubby had Teppinyaki. Both were very large portions - sushi was VERY fresh and tasty. The service was awesome, atmosphere was relaxing, and wed love to go back again soon!

I love Tomo. Its one of the few places that I eat sushi in Tampa. The service is always quick and the sushi has always been fresh. To save a little on price, I ask for the sushi roll thats currently the special & Ive never been let down.

My absolute fave (hands-down) sushi restaurant in Tampa. I compare all sushi places to Tomo and so does my entire family. I have had sushi in several places, and it is always fresh here. Lee is the best sushi chef in town.

I adore this place. From the front it looks really unsuspecting but inside is a warm little atmosphere. All the food is fresh and delicious, and the staff is very friendly. Despite it being a small place, they dont rush you.
