If youre like me, when you are checking out reviews before experiencing something new, you look for the negative feedback first. So Im going to get my minor gripes out of the way now because I might get carried away raving about the place. After visiting Square One for my first time last night, my only complaints are that there is no draft beer (only expensive bottles, ie $3.50 for Miller Lite and up), the parking can be challenging, my burger patty was nothing to write home about, and my burger toppings were below the burger, thus allowing the lettuce, pickle and tomato to make my bottom bun soggy. That being said, I feel that these are minor issues that Id gladly overlook when I return to Square One. From the moment we arrived, we were promptly seated by the smiling hostess. At our table, we were taken care of by a very friendly, competent and attentive server. She was quick with refills and helpful with suggestions. I chose to build my own burger using their angus beef. Kobe is available for almost twice the price. Considering my patty wasnt huge or incredibly "stand out" amongst my other toppings, Im glad I didnt pay more for the Kobe beef since I probably wouldnt have been able to tell the difference. Although the burger patty wasnt a shining component of my sandwich, it was still as good as most burgers. For only $7.99, I really enjoyed the many selections available when creating your own burger. You have the freedom to choose different buns, gourmet sauces, gourmet cheeses, veggies, etc. Most of these choices are available at no extra cost, although there are "primo" selections like bacon, brie, and other items. My burger was built and cooked as requested. Angus patty on a soft kaiser roll with sun-dried tomato mayo, gruyere cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. The burger comes with your choice of one side, including fries, cole slaw, baked beans, or sweet potato fries for $1 more. At the suggestion of my server, I chose the cole slaw and was very pleased, especially being a picky cole slaw eater. At nearby tables, I was eyeing the large crinkle cut french fries and thick piles of baked beans which all looked fantastic and worth a try on my return trip. My girlfriend ordered their "X-rated" grilled cheese sandwich with the sweet potato fries. Both items were excellent. The bread on her sandwich was perfectly buttery, crunchy, and golden brown, stuffed with gruyere cheese, onion, and thick tomato slices. Aside from the main dishes, we shared a bowl of their beer cheese soup as an appetizer. This soup was excellent. Although it was the price of a burger, it was a large enough portion to share and for us both to be satisfied. The soup is very rich, almost fondue like, with a flavor of black pepper that was enough for me to notice but not too much for my girlfriend. We both ordered bottled beers (there is also a full liquor bar available) which came ice cold with frosty glasses. When I say the beer was ice cold, it was noticeably cold. There arent many places where I notice how cold the beer is kept, but Square One is definitely on that list. That definitely helped to distract me form the absence of draft beer. Fortunately, there is a happy hour that is weekdays from 4-6 that takes $1 off of the price of beer and makes it a little less expensive if you want to enjoy a few. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very clean and sophisticated. The decor was well designed, the seating was comfortable, the dinnerware was contemporary, and the restroom sinks were cool too. For someone like myself who lives in the Carrollwood section of town, Id be happy to drive the 15 minutes it took us to go to Square One again. The cool but unpretentious atmosphere, good food at great prices, excellent service, and cold beer are enough to keep me coming back for more. Ill just be sure to get my toppings on top of the burger next time.

Went there with a local friend that raved about how great the burger were. We arrive and were told we can sit outside (which were high tops, humid out, & with a two year old) or we can wait 10-15 minutes. We stated we would wait and went to the bathroom to get freshened up. When we got out the host told us we can sit it the back area by the bathrooms (which didnt have any other patrons eating) We said great and our server greeted us immediately. She was super nice and took our drink orders and we ordered the MacNCheese as well. While we were enjoying the MacNCheese (which were delish!) we heard a noise. When we looked there was a Palmetto bug, one of us got up to kill it when we noticed there were two dead roaches under our table. The employees moved us immediately and apologized. I gave two stars only because the food was great! But the customer service was not to par, especially when you are a restaurant and your employees failed to at least sweep the area before we got sat. No drinks, no app, nothing was compensated. I paid full amount and tipped 22% and we didnt complain once to management. It was roaches that were dead not Palmettos (even after the manager stated "It just a Palmetto") We work in the industry and actually expected to have the app at least comp. As a restaurant things happen that are out of our control, but when it comes to cleanliness of an establishment this was not acceptable. Again great food, great server & host but not great management. Please clean properly!

I have been at this place a handful of times and never had a bad experience until today. The Buffalo Bob Burger was horrible. The Manager just kept making excuses instead of trying his best to make it right. I got my burger which I asked to be well done. The burger was like a hockey puck and the bacon was raw. They didnt even get the onion rings right. They werent cooked. I sent it back and it was exactly the same. The bartender Arlene said that she saw him put it back on the grill... The bacon was still cold... So frustrating! The manager offered me a free desert or appetizer. I didnt want it and I definitely did not want a coupon for a free appetizer. I dont think I will ever go there again. I cant trust them to correct their mistakes. I really dont trust the cooks either. I ended up just eating the burger and paying for it and letting them know that I dont think I would eat there again. Its unfortunate because its a cheap date spot with nice ambience. The staff can be a little immature and I believe that was the reason for my bad burger. The worst part is that there was nobody there. I was alone at the bar. There was a party of two and a party of four. It was 5:30pm on a Monday. So not cool!!!

What a great restaurant this is! Starting off my group of 4 had fried jalapenos and chili cheese fries. Both were great and wed order again. Now to the important part- BURGERS! We tried the All American Squared (double cheeseburger.. great for someone whos not too adventurous but wants an ABOVE average burger) Firebird 2- Ostrich burger (you MUST try this, the taste is amazing) with jalapenos and lots more Rise and Shine- Angus burger that includes a fried egg on top. sounds different but oh so good... this was my burger and Im so glad I tried this! Toga Party (Angus with feta cheese and basil.. was so full of flavor.. basil really makes the burger interesting and delicious) We also tried the desserts, no idea how we had room. Loved the red velvet and pina colada cupcakes.. and the sundae is HUGE! Service was great, decor and music really sets the mood and we will be returning VERY soon!
