I cannot say enough positive things about Red Oak Pub. The food, the drinks, the staff, the atmosphere - its all excellent. After trying the meatloaf, Im hooked and have a hard time straying from it. Its all too typical that meatloaf winds up being dry and the sauce not quite right when you risk ordering it -- its the complete opposite at Red Oak. The sauce has a hint of barbecue that gives it a little unexpected tang, the mashed potatoes that top it are never lumpy, and the asparagus is the perfect accompaniment. The wait staff is incredibly attentive, the drinks are always cold (I highly recommend the Angry Orchard Crisp Apple for hard cider lovers), and Mike (the owner) makes the rounds to each table making sure his guests are completely satisfied with their meal and service. If youre in Newark, definitely head up 21st Street and make your way to Red Oak. Your taste buds will thank you.

Went for our first time today..Sunday August7th at one in the afternoon. The place had a small to medium sized crowd and didnt seem busy. We ordered the Blue cheese burger and the Freck burger along with and appetizer. Appetizer came out to the table quickly...how ever the burgers were a whole different story. 45 minutes later they arrived... Well done and dry as all get out. I have no intention of going back. Overpriced long wait for sub-par bar food.

My husband and I recently ate lunch here and were impressed as always. The expanded food menu offers several new choices that are great. The bucket of shrimp and the jerk chicken tacos are fantastic. The atmosphere is wonderful. The staff/service is friendly and prompt. The owner made it a point to talk with us personally. This is a great place to meet up with friends for a meal and drink.

In this area for a business trip. Went to this restaurant based on it being the highest rated restaurant in the area. Not that great. It has average/good food, limited menu (no steaks?) but a great selection of beers. Would go back, but with limited expectations. Nice atmosphere, lots of locals, friendly wait staff. Like the stars say, "Its okay".

This was a great restaurant. We went to celebrate my husbands birthday. The prices are good and portions are generous. The waitress was on top of things while we waited. Filled up our drinks before they were even empty. I would suggest to anyone in the Newark area to try this place once. The owner is friendly and down to earth. Will be back

My new favorite restaurant in Licking County. I was in for the third time in the past month and have been impressed by the great service and fun atmosphere. Their burgers are great and the grilled chicken salad I had last week was also excellent . Lots of menu choices for my family of 5, highly recommend for lunch or dinner.

I went there last night with a big group of forty co-workers and had an unbelievable experience. The staff was awesome and even better, the food was amazing. I had the bacon and blue burger and an order of wings. The place was packed and full of energy. Awesome place, will be back next time Im in Newark.

Probably the best burgers in the area. Top notch food. We go here often and have never had a bad meal. Everything from the meatloaf to the chicken fingers are great. Pork Chop is a must. Service great. My only complaint is that it is quite busy and we usually have to sit at the bar.

Great service! Came in on a Friday with 8 people and had a table in 5 minutes. Bartenders need to check the tap on Bells Oberon (they mixed it up with bud light or something) but food is great and blows away competition in Newark. Go here for sure.

Food was good but place is NOT handicap accessible at all. All high tables and booths on the main floor. They do have regular tables but no way for a wheelchair to get to them. Was my first and only time i will go there.

Amazing service and food. The chorizo burger was juicy and had just enough spicy flavor. Interestingly, the sweet potato fries came with a cup of caramel to dip in - a new twist that I didnt hate.
