I had a bad experience at Datz with waiting but I really wanted to try Roux. Bad idea. We had a reservation for 8:30- arrived at 8:15 and the hostess says our table will be ready in a few minutes and we can sit at the bar and wait. So, we sit at the bar and get some drinks. 9:00 rolls around and no table yet so I ask the hostess what the ETA is- she says theyre running a little behind. Fast forward, were finally seated at 9:31. An hour after our reservation. Regardless, Im trying to still remain positive even though Im starving. We sit at the table...ten minutes goes by, no server, no water. 9:45 the server comes and asks if we want drinks....nope I just want food as Im starved at this point. Order an appetizer and our entrees and we stay positive. 10:15 comes...no appetizer yet. At this point Im exhausted and famished. 10:20, yep still no appetizer. The table behind us is talking how they ordered their food over an hour ago and still havent received it. Honestly, I really think I would have liked roux if I ever was given food. But, I finally gave up. Part of being a good restaurant is navigating reservations, wait times, not overbooking, and ensuring prompt service. Just because a restaurant has a "norm" of being an hour behind reservations doesnt mean its okay. Thanks for ruining my date night, Roux. Lesson learned.

The music and decor were great. The host staff working there front door was great also. Unfortunately we were disappointed with a few things... The server my wife and I had wasnt very good at being proactive. Simple things like refilling the water or removing dirty plates or getting bill took way to long. She must have been having an off day... But it soured our experience. We were disappointed that our meals didnt come out hot (temp). I had the Crawfish Etouffee which had great flavors but it came out cold. My wife had the Lamb Shank which had great flavors as well but was room temp. My last let down was the fact that they didnt have BEIGNETS as a dessert option. Its New Orleans based cuisine. For me Its like going to a Mexican restaurant that doesnt serve Tacos. So I hope they add them to the menu at some point. The only reason i am giving this place 3 stars is because there was a server named Kyle who wasnt our server come over and ask about our experience. He must have seen our displeasure. Kyle was awesome with addressing are concerns and because of the way he handled our situation we will give Roux another chance.

This was my first time going to Roux. Overall, it was an average experience. The other reviewers were right about seating. I had a reservation for 8:30p and I finally sat down a little after 9p. Also, the service was slow. Our server was very nice but he took a very long time to take our order and check in on us. I think he had too many tables to manage. The food was good. We enjoyed the coconut shrimp and the fried chicken. The chargrilled oysters were just OK - I have had better at Ulele. Last thing - I have not actually been to a restaurant where the manager does not come around to check on guests. I go to restaurants about 2-3 times a week and this was definitely not the norm. Again, overall, average experience. Its unfortunate though because this restaurant would be much better if management would pay attention to the comments in these reviews and fix some of these issues, like wait times for people with reservations and workload distribution for the staff so the guests can have a better experience. It is valuable feedback that can help the operational side of the restaurant improve.

I was very disappointed with Roux. I ordered the crawfish etouffee and it was NOT how an etouffee is supposed to be. First it came with the SMALLEST portion of rice I have ever seen. Three of us at the table ordered the etouffee and we just looked at in disbelief at our plates. I swear there was only a tablespoon of rice in the entire bowl. My mom looked over and thought I had ordered the gumbo! I had to ask the waitress for a whole bowl of rice because it was pretty much a soup when it was brought out, and she responds that most people ask for no rice. Okay well first, I am not most people, and second, it doesnt matter because thats not how an etouffee is made. Second, the sauce was a complete disgrace to New Orleans cuisine. It was a dark brown (etouffee has a cream sauce) and it was extremely bland. It tasted like a bowl of re-fried beans. Even my roommate said it tasted like we were eating a dismantled burrito from Taco Bell. Stay away if you are looking for an authentic cajun/creole/New Orleans cuisine. Especially when youre paying over $20 a plate.

Went for dinner on a Friday night, our experience was mostly great. The food was very good, especially the savory beignets, oysters and snapper. My dining companion did not enjoy her duck however, she felt it was too rare. Our server, Louis, was phenomenal. He was informative, patient and entertaining to boot. Our only real complaint was with the hostess, she seemed a bit clueless and unprofessional. We arrived on time for our 8:30 reservation, party of two. After 9:00 the hostess asked us if we had a reservation and were waiting for our table?!? We had of course checked in with her when we had arrived, and were sitting directly in front of her the entire time, in the only two chairs for waiting available. This wasnt a big deal for us, but it was strange, we expected a more professional hostess at such a fine establishment!

The best food in the Tampa Bay area!! My boyfriend and I came here on a whim and were extremely surprised. First of all the service was exceptional. Todd was so helpful and gave excellent recommendations. Our server, Josh was attentive and also helped us make the amazing entree choices we ended up with. We had the crab beignets for our appetizer and we were already blown away!! I had the seafood Wellington as my entree and my partner had the duck. Both were absolutely divine. For dessert we were delighted to try the chocolate and peanut butter mousse. If I have one complaint it would be the temperature of the seating room area by the kitchen, but i honestly didnt notice it until I came up for air from my dish and realized I was sweating! Lol. This restaurant gained a couple of "regulars" tonight!!!

Went here yesterday for the first time. For an appetizer we ordered the jalapeño skillet cornbread which was amazing. Im not even a big fan of cornbread but this stuff was just perfectly moist and sweet with just enough energy from the jalapeño to keep it from turning into dessert. For entrees I ordered the andouille crusted wahoo and my gf ordered the boudin stuffed pork tenderloin. Mine was fantastic, Id say it may have been the best fish dish Ive ever had. The pork tenderloin was good but just a tad dry and certainly not nearly as flavorful as my fish. Our server was excellent and she clearly knew the menu well as she readily explained the dishes and answered our questions. We both enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back!
