Goody Goody posts big signs that theyre "hiring" but good luck trying to get a call back from them after 3 interviews. I went in to apply for a server/server support position that I was more than qualified for as I was a manager for a restaurant for 3 years and did server support for fine dining at another. Serving burgers and milkshakes would be a piece of cake for me.or anyone with at least 1 year experience. I went in and filled out an application. Immediately, I interviewed with one manager named Tony. My first impression was great and after our conversation about availability and experience I was told to come in for a 2nd interview with the other manager. I went in the next day to interview with Dave. Him and I had a great conversation and I had a feeling he really liked me and felt I was qualified for the position. He then scheduled me for a 3rd interview with Lisa, the general manager. I was confident that after going in for 3 interviews that I would easily land the job. My 3rd interview with Lisa was another couple days later and it consisted of going over duties of server or server support. I was assured that I had the position as she talked about getting me into the new employee orientation to fill out the new hire paperwork. I left that interview with Lisa telling me she would call me within 3 days to begin training. 3 days went by and I received no call. I went in for a follow up in person to see what might have happened figuring they were just busy. I spoke with Tony who somehow didnt remember me even though we interviewed for 15 min not even 5 days before that. He took my name down and told me someone would contact me. Another 3 days went by, no call. I called Goody Goody and told them the situation. I spoke to Tony who said he was writing my name down again and that he would have someone call me. They were "figuring out the date for new employee orientation." Once again, 3 days go by, no call back. I went back in there for a 3rd follow up. I saw Lisa sitting at the bar eating a piece of pie. I asked the hostess if I may speak with Lisa. The hostess went over to let Lisa know but then came back to me and told me she couldnt speak with me and that she would be calling all applicants the following week. I guess eating pie on the clock was more important. 2 weeks later, no call but the "hiring now" sign still hangs out front. Theyre still within the first few months of opening but having competent managers is essential for running a successful restaurant. As a former manager, I would never have someone come in for 3 interviews and not give them the courtesy of at least calling them telling them the position is filled or that they are not fit for the job. Seems like common sense practice to me. If 3 managers cant handle operating a burger joint, then the owner should really find people that can. Judging by other reviews "incompetence" seems to be a consistent comment. I also went in to eat lunch. I got the POX burger, fries and a beer. To be honest the burger was average, at best. It was thin, overcooked, dry and poorly seasoned. The fries were decent and the beer was cold. I sat at the bar that had 3 other people. There were 2 bartenders but it took almost 10 min for someone to greet me and take my order. Im very surprised to see theyre always busy but if the incompetence continues, I doubt they stay that way for very long. Theyre lucky theyre in located in Hyde Park Village. Otherwise, they wouldnt be doing that well. I hope the managers see this and step their game up. I hope other applicants dont get lead on like me. If the owner reads this, reach out to me, Id love to show your managers how to run a restaurant.

After dining elsewhere late Friday night, we wanted dessert & found ourselves near Hyde Park. But when we realizied Goody Goody was closing in less than 10 minutes, we were hesitant to come in so late. However, those worries were unfounded. After selecting a couple of stools at the bar, we were greeted by a friendly & helpful server who immediately offered placemats, menus & glasses of water. He also gave us several dessert recommendations, including the Coconut Cream Pie we ultimately chose. And then, after deciding on a vanilla milkshake to go with our pie slice, another couple at the bar suggested we try chocolate instead. The Chocolate Milkshake was thick & rich, but not overly sweet. As our fellow diners had mentioned, the flavor was very close to a deep dark chocolate. It was incredible! #ProTip: dont bother with the straw until youre near the bottom of the glass. Our slice of Coconut Cream Pie was just as amazing! The whipped icing on top was slightly burnt, which led to a delightful roasted marshmallow taste on top of the creamy coconut flavor. And the crust had a fresh, crisp crunch that was perfectly juxtaposed against all that sweet, creamy goodness. Im not exaggerating when say that I scraped the plate. And if it were socially acceptable, I wouldve licked it clean. By now, most area Yelpers are aware of the ambiance to expect at Goody Goody... a large, open, modernized diner. By going late in the evening, we were able to enjoy the decor and diner vibe without a bunch of other people & their noise. And the service was outstanding, even at closing. Although we sat down at 10:55pm, we were openly welcomed and never felt rushed or hurried. Other diners lingered as well, and the patio doors remained open until long after we left. Were eager to return and enjoy a full meal at Goody Goody Burger!

On the Wait: I used the Nowait app to reserve my spot in the 2.5 hr queue. When my party and I arrived, we had to wait another 10 minutes to get a table at a full capacity restaurant. Maybe when the hype dies down, this will not be an issue. On the Food: I ordered a patty melt while the rest of my group ordered POX burgers and a Plaza Club sandwich. The burger tasted like a Five Guys Burger, so if you like a semi-thin greasy patty this may be for you. I felt that the fries were lackluster and soft but under-fried; if they were double fried it would be drastically improved. The sauce in the POX burger was weird to the person in my party who ordered it; they recommended that they should have the sauce on the side so you could dip into it instead. Despite this, the Plaza Club sandwich was the star of our meal; it was decadent and delicious. We also ordered onion rings; they were good but not memorable. For dessert we ordered a coconut pie slice, which was massive but nothing terribly special. On the Service: Beyond the wait issues, our service overall was okay. Our server was somewhat friendly but was clearly preoccupied with all the tables he had to serve. We had to wait a 15 minutes after we finished eating to get our bill and pay. Overall: It was definitely something to try out but nothing spectacular. The prices are great/affordable but expect to get Five Guys-esque quality for the burgers. I have not tried their breakfast yet but once I do, I plan on revising my review.
