Thank god I live in Orlando where the Thai food is actually edible. I cant believe this place is a good place to eat Thai food in Tallahassee. Please everyone do yourselves a favor and go to a city with more than two Thai restaurants to eat Thai food. It will open your eyes to what amazing Thai is like. We went here for lunch to try out some of its dishes at the buffet. The food looked awful. Some of the dishes like the ribs looked & tasted like it had been heated from the day before. It was overcooked and dry. The sweet and sour eggs were rubbery. The honey chicken had battered pieces and bits of what was suppose chicken but it was pure batter. Wheres the meat?? The white rice was dry and overcooked. I never knew you could mess up white rice. The pad thai was SWEET and soggy. It was a victim of being overcooked! Good pad thai isnt suppose to taste like sweet goop. How can a Thai restaurant mess up pad thai. I will forgive them for all of the other dishes but that! The coconut soup, supposedly the best in town, was bland. I sipped two spoons and couldnt eat it further. Some of the dishes were also named incorrectly. If you knew what you were eating, the dish is Hainanese chicken not "chicken angel" or whatever they called it. I guess the reason why this place has been in business for so long is because theres hardly any competition in Tallahassee. If they opened in Orlando with that kind of cooking theyd be out of business in a heartbeat.

I will always miss the old Bahn Thai, its dust the family and enjoying my spring rolls and their wonderful sauces with some jasmine tea. It will live on in my memories (its seriously nostalgic--my husbands family introduced it to me when we were teenagers in the 90s!). I was heartbroken by the end and I was resistant to the new management and decor. I saw a glowing bar in a FB image and feared the end of Bahn Thai! But, we gave it a try. And another and another. Its seriously good! The food is a bit different, but I enjoyed absolutely everything Ive had. The presentation is nice. The manager or is he the owner? He is a wonderful server! I felt comfortable with him and delighted by his service. He has a lot of obvious pride in the place. If you havent yet returned to Bahn Thai or if it you are new to the area, consider trying. I think it is a little more expensive now, but its wonderful and worth it. Long live Bahn Thai!

It was a great experience. Though, the service is slow, but I understand it is because the chef does everything for every order from scratch. No frozen foods are used according to owner of restaurant for 30 years. If you want good dinner, be ready to wait a little bit and you will enjoy it a lot like I did. My husband and I started with Spring Rolls with Avocado and Spring Rolls with Shrimps, all with Rice Wraps, and nothing fried and the ginger sauce made it more delicious and easy to eat. Our dishes were the fish of the day with brown rice (rare to find in restaurants ) and Asparagus, and the scallops dish. All food was healthy and delicious. Go to taste by yourself. You may not feel confi in the surrounding area, but inside it is the unexpected surprise of good food if you order the right food.

Food was AMAZING, I havent been here in years and when I walked in I was shocked to the updated space, everything is new and the service was fast as well as friendly. The only thing that did sorta bum me out was I looked at the online menu before coming, and chose what I wanted to eat so I could order imediatly when I came in. But when I was sat I discovered that at lunch time they do not have the whole menu, they have a special lunch menu only they serve from. But I was able to pick something off the lunch menu very quickly and it was still amazing. So they should update that on the website, showing the lunch menu also. But either way, this just means I have to come back for dinner now :) which I will be soon ! I suggest you try this place out .

Seriously, how is this place still in business? The restaurant itself was dirty, and the food was expensive. The crab rangoon was pretty much just fried dough... barely any filling at all. The curry was good, but it seems like they cook the meat separately, instead of putting it in the sauce. So the chicken was a bit bland. And they charge you for EVERYTHING! Want to share one of the dishes with your friend? Split charge. Want a drink with your meal? Extra charge, and they give you your coke in a can... Also, the owner is rude and reprimands you if you are eating improperly, or not eating enough (probably because she cant charge you for that). Just a weird experience, and we vowed not to return. Food is kind of awful.

I just came back from a good dinner turned awful by bad service at Bahn Thai. There were two servers thats were just running around and not able to to take orders. It took them 40 min to take our order. The food arrived in time and was good. However, they never refilled my water and white rice and so the main cuisine got cold and I got tired of waiting. Finally I asked for the check and she took my credit card and for 15 min she didnt run it. When I inquired, she mentioned that the owner of the restaurant is on the phone and so they cant use the credit card machine. Unbelievable... I paid by cash and as a result was forced to leave tip that I wouldnt have due to worse service. Never going to this dump again.

If i could give this a 6-star review, i would. New to Tallahassee? We have a number of Thai restaurants to choose from, however THIS one is a must. 1. History (Bahn Thai has been here AT LEAST since 1988 when I first came). 2. New management (a very welcome change, as the waning days of Bahn Thai 1.0 were bleak). New ownership has invested in decor, a sushi bar and a complete menu overhaul. Been to Bahn Thai before - but not in the last six months? Above paragraph also applies to you. In fact, you ESPECIALLY need to go, because your last experience likely didnt sit well with you. In short, Bahn Thai has reclaimed its rightful hegemonic state over TLHs Thai options.

I struggled with five stars. I love this place and the food is so good. Its delicious and close to authentic with ok service. They do a couple things I dont like with the food: they slice the lime leaves really thinly, for example, where traditionally theyd leave them full and have diners pick them out. Fine. I get it, Americans. But they stubbornly have only one server even for twelve tables. The food is really good, nearly authentic, and carefully prepared in ample portions. The service is friendly, competent, and slow. Highly recommended but be prepared to wait. I love the food and atmosphere enough to tip it to five stars.
