Sea Critters is a wonderful place , at least it use to be my wife and I frequented the quaint little waterside cafe, often by boat, the service was always great, and the food was very good. Its sad how one person can change that in a single visit. We stopped by with some friends from out of town, and walked in, we were waiting to be seated but no hostess , we asked an employee if we could just sit down at a table and she said help yourself. So we sat down at a table outside by the water, after a few minutes this man walked up and said you have to get up ( very stern and rude ) this table is reserved . I said I was sorry and where could we sit, his reply was very sarcastic , he said thats what the hostess is for, I replied, hey no need to be rude! He made a remark, drunk a-hole, as he walked away which floored me we have not being drinking, I asked for his name and he walked away back in the kitchen area. Several employes seen wake was happening came up and apologized to us. They gave us a card with his name on it, the customers sitting around us where shocked with his attitude as well. we told them we were going next door to the Wharf, another cafe on the water, left. When we were outside a couple of employees came out and stopped us. They wanted to make sure we would come back and apologized again for there bosses behavior. This man that treated us very poorly was the General Manager of place ( Byron ). Its ashamed that the rest of the employees have to endure this mad man on a daily bases. Sea Critters sorry but the Wharf will be seeing me and my wife a lot more, now that Byron has ruined or dinning experience there. The Wharf has boat access as well, we had a pleasant meal and good service at the wharf..

We should have turned around when we walked in the door. The hostess was nowhere to be found and took several minutes to show up. However, she sat us outside immediately. The view was beautiful. The drinks, alcoholic, were delicious. Our food was entirely the opposite. We ordered two sandwiches, the Cuban and the blackened chicken. The fries were completely unseasoned. Not a speck of salt, pepper or some house season. Who serves a plain potato? The chicken was very dry. It wasnt even mine, but I asked the person eating it if it was good because I could see how dry it was. That must have been the theme because that was hands down the worst Cuban I have ever had. I knocked on it with my finger and said it is as dry as it sounds. There was nothing on it to make up for the rock hard bread. I know Cubans are pressed, but that was between two stale crackers practically. I left more than half the sandwich on my plate and some fries, because despite being hungry, it was gross enough I wasnt eating it. After over an hour and a half in the restaurant, I left hungry. How on Earth is this a top 10? Also, our server felt it was more important to get her side bar work done than ask how our food was until we had had it too long. She was MIA half the time. You get two stars for your drinks. Food alone would get you zero.

While It seems to me I am one of the few who had a bad experience, it really got to me. Upon walking in from the docks and going to the hostess area, it took at least ten minutes before someone even acknowledged us even though everyone surely saw us walk in. Our waitress was very matter-of-fact, drinks sat empty, and then the food came out and I was very disappointed, at least the coconut shrimp was somewhat good. On top of all of that, one of your male employees whom is bald and older decided to stand behind us and lean over the banister texting and talking loudly to a coworker, THE WHOLE TIME. I dont know about you but I dont like to be stood over the whole time i eat and not even be able to hold a conversation of my own because of his. Will definitely be taking the extra 20/30 minutes to go down the waterway and dock up somewhere else, was really hoping this would be a good spot but unfortunately some work needs to be done.

We had lunch in April. Ive been meaning to find the site and post a review since we left the place. I had a grouper sandwich, and yeah, it was good. But Im here to tell you that this place has the best key lime pie in the world! Im 65 years old, and have eaten a lot of key key lime and lemon ice box pies (the Carnation condensed milk version my mother use to make). Ive traveled all over the country as a consultant for the last 30 years, and it just dont get no better than this. Im trying to get my wife to move to the Villages so we can be closer to the source. You can bet I wont go to Florida without stopping for another piece, sugar problems or not! You gotta try this pie!

Came here with two friends while visiting St Pete. It took us a while to get seated, once we were directed to sit, it took us about 15 minutes for someone to come by and speak to us. First timer, would have been nice to hear what they recommend and to get starting drinks right away. Ended up ordering the lobster pasta. Wow was I disappointed. Not only is it overpriced, I received 2 small pieces of lobster (reference pic), and some noodles that were swimming in the sauce. Seriously, the noodles were swimming in buttered water...Very bland, unseasoned dinner. Very cool spot but being on the water I expected a little more quality of sea food.

Didnt get reservations. Big mistake. Told wait would be 30 minutes. Seated one hour later. Put in order immediately to save time. Half hour later the bread came. Had to ask for silverware and napkins. Sat outdoors to enjoy nice weather but they had the place buttoned up like there was heavy rain. That made it loud as hell in there, especially next to a bridal party. My dish was very good amberjack. But the rice was badly under cooked. My wifes dish was grouper, normally a large fish. McDonalds fillet-o-fish sandwich had more fish than her entree. Very disappointing given all the good reviews. Poorly managed.

They have some stupid club you must buy into to receive the pricing on the yellow highlighted items on the menu. When I got the bill the price was twice what was listed on the menu. When I ordered the waitress said nothing, no indication was made anywhere except on a small piece of paper at the front door. Nothing on the menu indicates a club must be joined to get this pricing and the manager was too cowardly to speak with me. They could care less about temporary visitors to this area, bad taste in our mouth from this location. My advice, there are too many other find restaurants to even consider this place.

Im not sure why this restaurant has rated so high. We went on a Thursday evening. Service was slow, but they werent that busy. Prices were high, especially considering the portion size and the taste of the food. We ordered gator bites for 8.99 and received 6 small undercooked chunks. Not worth it at all. My son ordered a burger, it was over cooked and had hard grisly pieces, and it included a tiny portion of French fries (adult menu). I gave it 3 stars because it was right on the water and the quesadillas with homemade salsa were good. If you go, dont expect much.
