The serving staff ruined it. I chose the restaurant as a birthday dinner for me and my wife. We like the restaurant because its on the water. This was our second time to this establishment and waitresses were completely rude to us. (At least to two blondes were, the brunette was friendly but clueless as seating arrangements). We walk up to the restaurant and the sign says "please seat yourself" and since there were four tables open the sign must be right. But I asked one of the waitresses to double check since there were people just kind of hanging around the entrance, the waitress said "sit anywhere you like." There was a couple leaving from the covered area and said we could take their table, they walked off, the waitress cleared the table and we started to sit down when a blond waitress said that there were people in front of us. I told her the other waitress had said to sit anywhere we wanted and she said no, I also pointed out the sign to her and she didnt say anything. We wanted the covered area because it had rained earlier and looked like it might rain again. Also, the other three tables in the uncovered area had never had the water wiped off them. I turned to my wife, not the waitress, and said well just go someplace else. The waitress waited until we turned our back and smarted off with a "have a nice day." Trust me, she didnt mean it to be friendly. There are two many good restaurants in Dunedin to waste your time eating here. We left there and went to the Dunedin Brewery and had a fantastic dinner. My money means more to me than to give it to rude waitresses for over priced food because your on the water. Pick any restaurant in the area and youll have a better meal.

Four stars based on the awesome location. The food was sort of bland but I only ordered scallops and honestly was only there for the great view anyway! Dunedin Fish Market and the Olde Bay Cafe is located near the Dunedin Marina where a lot of people dock their boats. Its got a perfect view of the water and an AMAZING view of the sunset. It really cant be beat in this respect. You can grab a seat on the bar area which overlooks the water if you want to enjoy the day and partake in a great view of Tampa Bay. The place is pretty busy, presumably based on its location, but the menu has quite a few offerings in terms of fresh seafood and bar bites. I ordered scallops and a side of vegetables. I received four scallops for $12, which is SUPER pricy in my opinion. The scallops were just okay. I think they had the shells still on them? They were sort of crunchy and weird. The vegetables were pretty good, but nothing special. They were just steamed. I saw several people with peel-n-eat shrimp that looked fabulous and wish I would have gotten that, but alas! I did not. The crab cakes looked awesome too. So...honestly, Id give this place 2.5 stars for the food itself. It was pretty mediocre. The service was friendly and pretty quick though, which was nice since I was by myself. Id come back to see the sunset and to try out other menu items if I was in the area, but probably wouldnt actively seek to go to this place to eat again.

I have to share a story from when I visited this cafe over the summer. For years I had brought guests to Olde Bay, telling them stories of the delicious tacos, sandwiches, and soups. So the last time I was a patron of this restaurant, we had family from out of town join us. There were five of us total, one a 3 year old, in the early afternoon for lunch. All the high tables with stools under the patio were taken, so we grabbed a table with an umbrella and sat down. We ordered drinks and food, and as the drinks were served, a woman who worked there (a manager, I presumed), began to remove the umbrella from our table. When we asked she not do that, she gave us some story about umbrellas being lifted up from the wind and slamming into cars. For the record, there was a light breeze that summer day but nothing nearly strong enough to lift an umbrella out of a table, and to expect us to eat a hot lunch on a Florida summer day with the sun beaming down on us was ridiculous. We promptly cancelled the order and went to eat across the street.

PROS: Friendly wait staff, superb view of the harbor and decent beer selection. Thats about it. CONS: Where to begin? We entered as a party of three on a busy Wednesday night and were not greeted, but instead discovered that we had to write ourselves on the "guest list" instead, placed nowhere in particular out on the patio. The waitstaff consisted of just two very busy, and very friendly waitresses that were having obvious difficulty serving their tables in such a crowded dining area. It certainly didnt help having patrons who had already finished and paid for their meals continue to occupy tables meant for those who had been waiting for quite a lengthy period of time. We ordered three sandwiches: swordfish, mahi and pulled pork. All three were boring, and rather pricey. All together the check came to around $70 for food, drinks and tip that left us all rather disappointed. In a town with several grouper sandwich & seafood joints, Olde Bay Cafe really falls short among their competition.

My daughter and I had been wanting to check this place out for some time. We finally made it here today! Im a suckered for eating on or near the water. Im not really sure what I was expecting but it was much different than that. Not better or worse, just different. I got the grouper taco w/chips for $6.50. I wondered if I was going to wish I had gotten two but this was the most grouper stuffed taco ever. It was really good but i could not have eaten another one. My daughter had the blue crab salad sandwich and we both thought it was really good as well. My only disappointment was w/myself for not ordering a separate side instead of eating half the chips that came with my taco. Love the chill atmosphere and will definitely be back.

We went here for lunch on a weekday. The place was clean and casual. Our meals were excellent, the side order portions were large and the fish (one of us had the mahi and the other had the grouper) was extremely tasty and very fresh. I mean directly off the boat fresh. The fish portions werent large but they were big enough for us (two healthy people who love to eat - as opposed to people who eat like birds). We plan on coming back for dinner (and lunch). BTW we thought the prices were more than fair, especially considering the price of grouper here is $$ less than other restaurants in the area - and the quality of the grouper here is better.

Understand this place good for lunch only on date. "NOT" place go with kids for dinner. Crab cake dont have jumbo lump meat under 4oz. plus the roll was hard and found out all sandwiches have same roll. Shrimp small too... Two servers well only one makes feel welcomed, as short woman comes off like she rushing to next table while your ordering to back her head. Eye contact is important in customer care. Foid basket is first sign to just get drinks only. By way Im from Baltimore n Pennsylvania hope i fine my crab cake here in Florida.
