First I would like to say that I am a food critic and write articles for magazines on restaurants. With this in mind I would like to say that my first visit to this restaurant was spectacular. We had been waiting for months with great anticipation for this place to open. Usually I wait a few months for a restaurant to break itself in and get settled before I try it, and being a New Yorker and having had some of the best REAL Chinese food, I was really excited about this place. I was informed about the opening of this place by Chinese people who work in the industry months before it opened, strangely enough by some of the people that currently work there now. Now here is my experience that I waited for. The first time me and my significant other dined there we were very very happy and excited that the food was so good, we actually had the best salt and pepper squid we had ever had. I had a seafood combination dish with XO sauce that was also fantastic, spring rolls, soup and an order of honey chicken. We spent about $60 and was super excited they opened, so excited we want back 4 days later. This was right after telling my closest foodie friends how great it was and then posting it on my social media food review page and my personal page to an audience of about 5000 people and more who share it. Now 4 days later and my taste buds super excited to have this salt and pepper squid again so we ordered this and a few new dishes. Well first they brought out salt and pepper shrimp with shells on which I did not order nor would I order them with the shells on. I was asked to try it since they made a mistake they were hoping I would settle for their mistake. I tried it and did not want to settle for their mistake and promptly asked for my salt and pepper squid. Well after waiting 15 minutes it comes out and doesnt look like what I had 4 days earlier. It looked like it was drowned in a beer batter like you would see in an Irish fish and chip joint. Which I do love a good Fried cod, but not in this case. Nothing we ordered came out correct and after 2 hours of not eating what we were excited about, (yes 2 hours) the manager apologized and informed us that their chef had quit. He then gave us one item we ordered to go since I was over and done after 2 hours of watching people getting their food. He then told us he would give me $50 in credit towards my next visit to make up for this Disaster of a night. Ok Ill accept that since our first visit was so good I was hoping to experience it again. We went back the following week and saw the manager and ordered the same dishes and wanted to try something new and the manager suggested something for my girlfriend, we waited 30 minutes again for our first dish to arrive. Not Happy! Once again the squid was not what it was the first time we went. The suggested dish was so full of what I assume were cloves that my girlfriend could not eat it and the smell was so overpowering it was a turnoff even to myself. So we sent it both back and in exchange got her usual honey chicken which was good and we also had the Yan Chow fried rice, good stuff. So we mustered our way through the meal never getting the salt and pepper shrimp we were so looking forward to and trying to get past the fact that we were there almost and hour and a half. We finally finished dinner with manager once again apologizing hands me a bill of $7.00. I asked him what it was for and he told me my meal was covered but it was for the dish he suggested that we couldnt eat. He was only charging us half price since we did not like it. So we finished up with the waitress packing our to go items and I had to speak to the manager before he left but he was already gone. So I told 2 people ( the lady at the front and my waitress) I did not want to pay for an item I deemed inedible. It was like I told someone they had a disease, the reaction was incredible. The manager was gone and they did not know what to do so they told me they had to call him and she would be back. I waited 5 minutes and we decided to leave. Very sad.

Lots of authentic options, live fish, and great dim sum. Big, bright atmosphere. Seasonal Chinese greens include tung choy (water spinach), snow pea tips, Chinese broccoli, yu choy. Very nice soup. Nothing canned (no canned mushrooms like one finds in many soups at Chisese restaurants). My Mom (who is Chinese) always says to look for the restaurants where other Chinese people eat. Lots of Asians eat here. Why not 5 stars? The hostess and wait staff. It is best to sit at the bar for a good experience. The young lady at the bar also manages take out orders. She is polite, proficient, and very sweet. The wait staff in the dining room is hopeless. There is a very nice older gentleman who we have had the pleasure of having as our server a few times. He is wonderful! The female servers are atrocious. They are RUDE, ignore English speaking patrons trying to garner their attention, forget to submit items ordered, refuse to serve water and appear to understand precious little english. One evening my party of 3 went in and asked to be seated at a table. The restaurant was 75% empty with all of their large tables vacant. The hostess said we would need to wait 20-25 minutes. There was another party of 3 ahead of us also waiting. We left and went to the restaurant down the street - so did the other party of 3 of principle. I called and let the manager on duty know. Obviously, they wanted us to come back, but we were already gone. At the end of the day if I am paying good money it is about me getting good food. No argument that this restaurant has very good food. Just eat at the bar or insist on the male waiter for a good experience.

This restaurant is probably one of South Floridas best kept secret. The place opened a little over a year ago and the kitchen is staffed with some of the top chefs recruited from the NYC Chinatown dim sum scene. The food is nothing short of stellar as every single item on the menu is made from scratch everyday. The menu is simple and covers all the usual dim sum suspects including Har Gao (shrimp dumplings), Siu Mai (pork dumplings), rice sheet rolls, steamed buns and more. Everything is steaming hot, fresh and super tasty. Instead of focusing on one signature dish, Gold Marquess makes every one of its dishes count. The interior decor has a very modern and chic style to it and the full-service bar is equipped with top of the line spirits and 2 giant flat screen TVs. The service is very prompt and accommodating as the restaurant has multiple push carts that serves its dim sum immediately. This is hands down, the nicest and cleanest Chinese restaurants you will ever come across in South FL and I highly recommend them to all my friends who are looking for a fine dining experience as this place has the best dim dum in town. Just a warning though - the place does get extremely packed on the weekends so make sure you either arrive early or see if you can book reservations.
