We went to lunch at Kotobuki and saw they had a $5.50 express lunch with chicken, zucchini, and fried rice. Being in a rush, this was pretty good to hear. The hostess asked us if we wanted a hibachi table or a booth. We said, "whichever one is faster." She sat us at a booth, the waitress came, got us drinks and took our orders. After about 35 minutes, we noticed that another couple seated at a hibachi had already had their order completed- there were only 3 couples in the place. No big deal, but we were in a hurry, so I asked our waitress about our food. She brought it out 5 minutes later. Looked great. My wife took some rice with her fork and a bug ran out and walked on her plate. I got our waitress and showed her. Trying to be reasonable, I told her we would pay for our meals, but we werent gonna stay and eat here. She went to the back, came out, and told us we didnt have to pay and we could leave. No manager, no sorry. It stinks that we wont be going to one of my one of my favorite places. I get it- were in FL and bugs happen, but the apathy shown tells me they just dont wanna help.

If I could give 0 stars I would. We ordered 7 orders from this place from our office for lunch and when the food came back our portions were ridiculously small! The seventh order was a kids portion and it had more food than all 6 of ours . When we called to inform them they told us why are you getting kids portion if your not 12? Told us we are complaining because we dont feel the portions are enough . They didnt fry sushi so we had raw sushi. And basically told all of us that they cant do anything. We spent $100 in total . They asked why are we eating it if its such a small portion and we explained we had only 30 minutes to eat we didnt have time to take our office on a field trip to physically show them the portions. Dont you think if a group of employees all have the same complaint that we arent lying ? We will never order from here again . We dont recommend at all they are rude and have the worst customer service weve ever experienced .

I have been eating here for over 20 years ... best sushi anywhere. The review below was probably on a night where they were so packed at the hibachi tables, seating was tough. You can make reservations and sit away from the hibachi for a more personal feel. The sushi bar is good too - - always nice people to speak with. I do not know who Jon and J are ... but they do not even have a pic posted (LOL) ... everyone else rated KOTOBUKI well ... I personally have not ever found better sushi. The onion/mushroom soup comes with crunches on it that become soft in the broth ... that is the style of the soup. The crunches are NOT noodles. Honestly, the hibachi is good ... but, I ALWAYS go for the sushi. I have had sushi all over the eastern seaboard and out west ... nothing has topped KOTOBUKI and their sushi ... Thanks Ricky and Mr. Ishi :) Micki is amazing ... been serving there since they opened.

Kotobukis has always been my favorite Japanese Restaurant to go to. Ive gone here for over 30 years. I placed an order for 5 different Sushi rolls to go. When I placed the order one of the sushi that I ordered was a soft shell crab roll and I asked that they make sure that the legs were incorporated into the roll. When I went to pick up my order I confirmed my order before I paid for it.l. They assured me that they had passed the message onto the sushi chefs. When I got home and opened the sushi boxes, there were no legs on the soft shell crab rolls. I called Kotobukis and their only comment was.......I told them to make sue that they made the soft shell crab roll with the legs attached. Nothing more. I asked them.....what do they do with the legs on the soft shell crab? No response. I love this place, its just however so very dis-heartening.

This is the least "japanese" of all the japanese steak houses I have ever been to. I guess I didnt mind that, but it went down hill from there. I ordered the eel roll and the blue crab roll for sushi and the rib eye and chicken from the grill. The eel roll was ok, but the crab tasted like it was out of a can. The main order delivered me fried rice with another first for japanese food, it had corn in it. I guess I shouldnt be surprised, there wasnt anyone who had ever even visited asia in the place. The chicken had magically become shrimp by the time it made it to my plate. The beef was difficult to eat because of the fat content, I guess this is why i hadnt seen rib eye on the menu at other places. It was difficult to get a replacement beer to wash my food down.

This restaurant is between the 2 reviews below. Food was very average, nothing out of the ordinary tasty but totally an acceptable meal. Very on par for the price which was very reasonable for the amount of food served. We had Hibachi. Onion soup was tasty, cocktail was great as well. A girl next to us had a sashimi bowl which looked good a d fresh. Service was efficient, but not very personal and the setting has no ambiance, but we had refills as wanted, prompt attention. It was busy during our visit and they were on top of guests needs. This review also reflects that we are from S Florida, where we do have an abundance of well planned restaurants, and especially some excellent Asian places. For a rural area restaurant this is about what to expect.

I dont know where to begin... The service was poor at best. We sat at a flat top, we ordered sushi and the chefs special with an addition of scallops x2! Salad was red from going bad not green! Saki was like warm at best asked for it to be reheated and didnt see our server again until our steamed rice was delivered. Grill was dirty, tiles were filthy to the point of noticabilaty and floors were slick! Then out comes our chef.... Barely any communication. And after watching and eating some over cooked food I changed my fillet to rare and STILL had to ask him to take it off the grill! Lobster and shrimp cooked to perfect rubberized state

From beginning, restaurant was not busy at all and we waited at least 5 minutes for someone to sit us (didnt even acknowledge us) once employee walked back to front I had to go and say hi and how many we were to be seated. Upon seating, we waited 5 minutes and no server greeted us. I had to walk up to ask for service. Drinks took along time to come out but food was pretty quick. Soup and salad was given last when it should be the first thing as appetizer. Little unprofessional writing our order on a napkin, and bringing out the wrong soup. Food was ok but nothing crazy. I would pick another place next time I go for Japanese food.
