I love this restaurant! I bring any friend or acquaintance who wants authentic BBQ to Hardwood Smokehouse. This restaurant is 2.5 miles off of I-75, exit 350, in a strip mall. Dont let that fool you. The family owned business is the real deal. Very casual and easy access to tables and booths. The menu is on a large blackboard behind the counter or you can sit and read the menu, your choice. I just love Karen, who is at the counter to take your order and delivers your food to your table. She is friendly and follows up to make sure your meal is to your satisfaction. The soft drinks are self serve and, of course, refillable. There is a choice of approximately 6-8 different bottled beer. As for BBQ and smoked meats, you have your choice of pulled pork, Angus beef brisket, chicken, turkey, ribs and burgers. Most meals come with 1-2 sides. The corn bread looks like a pancake and is soooo good. There is even a kids meal. All portions are VERY generous. For the person that likes very spicy, ask Karen for the "Liquid Heck", which is kept in the kitchen. It is an awesome addition to the pulled pork or beef brisket. I have had lunch and dinners at Hardwood Smokehouse and the meals are consistent and delicious at both times. My favorites? Beef brisket with Liquid Heck, mac and cheese and the BBQ beans. I just love everything about the Hardwood Smokehouse!!

We were excited to go to the new restaurant. We walked in and stood at the counter. Two girls were behind the registers never looked up never said hi. So, we seated ourselves in a booth. Sat there for at least 15 minutes before I finally walked up to the two girls who still never came over to see if we needed anything or greet us. After looking around at 11:20 I realized we were the only customers they had and being that it was our very first time I felt that someone should of come over and informed us how to order we would have not wasted our whole lunch sitting waiting there waiting on a waitress, not happy with the lack of customer service. My suggestion as a customer is for the girls to be a little more aware of your surroundings and greet people as they walk in. Maybe hi guys just wanted to let you know if you never been here before that you order up here when your ready. Let me know if you have any questions about the menu we would be more then happy to help. Today is 10/19 manager who was training a new girl were the first people we saw and if that is how you train your girls to not be attentive to the customers this will not be a very successful chain. Having the right staff is everything to an owner. We decided to have lunch at PDQ :/

I was driving from Tampa to Jacksonville and was going to stop into Sonnys to answer some emails etc. I decided that as a small business owner I should check out google and get best BBQ that Ocala has to offer, google recommended this place. When I first walked in I was disappointed to find out it was a "Fast Casual" concept. This annoys me to no end! If you are going to charge full service restaurant prices you should offer full service! Otherwise I could just pick it up to go and then take it home and eat it in front of my TV. I ordered the brisket and when it arrive I was very disappointed, I requested that the brisket come from the tip so that it included alot of fat. What I got was chopped with no fat whatsoever. I was also excited to have a hoe cake, but what I got was like hoe cake Ive every seen. What I received had more flour in it than corn and was really more like a pancake than hoe cake. I will say the fried okra that I ordered as a side was pretty tasty, but the cole slaw was too fancy for my taste. Next time Im up this way Ill probably stop into Sonnys if this is the best Ocala has to offer. Wasnt a

How do you describe perfection? Mouthwatering down to the bone! You could practically eat the bone! I love this place! The ambiance is good, the decor is perfect and country chic and the music is light with a country twang! Its downright perfect! The food, oh the food, is just mm, mmmm, hmmmmmmmmm, finger lickin goood! I swear, you wanna slap yo mama! Ok, not that much, but its so good! I never tasted brisket so melted and perfectly cooked than what I tasted here! I love this place! Rich Lucy and team has done a perfect job with Hardwood Smokehouse and I am a loyal customer now and always with the family. Will be coming back again and again.

Just left there a few minutes ago. My family loves BBQ and on our way back home my son said he wanted BBQ. So I went online and found this establishment. It was clean inside and the staff was very helpful and nice. I got the Redneck Taco with Green Beans and Mac and Cheese which was awesome. My son got the baby back ribs and he said they were "epic". We loved the sauce "Railyns Red Mild" so much that we had to buy it and take it home to use when we cookout and very impressed that it only cost $5. My husband got a burger and he said it was very good. My son requests that when we are in Ocala that this becomes our "go-to".

Honest review: This restaurant is great. We are from Atlanta, Ga. The fries were cooked fresh. That is hard to find. The only bad part, which is common, is the sauces. I did not enjoy any of the BBQ sauces. I got use to the sweet sauce. None of them were really good. The sides were not very good also. The mac n cheese and green beans were not very good. Everyone has their own taste besides that the service and food were excellent. The prices were also good. The pulled pork was very good also. Thanks Hardwood Smokehouse for a pleasant experience, the employee customer service was great.

I would recommend Hardwood Smokehouse to anyone that wants the best BBQ in Ocala and probably Marion country all together. Their side salad is good sized and green, their baked sweet potato needs no toppings and their slaw is some of the best I have ever had. Their meats, no matter what is ordered from chicken to ribs, are always perfect. Their pricing is very affordable even though they do not allow tipping. Great place all around for anyone whether you are a veggie lover, meat eater or a bit of both.

My husband and I went to this smokehouse tonight. Everything we ordered was disgusting. I had the BBQ nachos. The pulled pork was overcooked and just mush. The cheese was clumpy and everything was just plopped on top with their nasty sweet sauce. My husband had the sausage sandwich which was also gross, it was smoked but the flavor was missing and the sauce he had was also not very good. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Excellent and unique barbecue!!! Delicious ribs and pulled pork. Wonderful management and cheerful, friendly service. You must visit this restaurant. They are at the end of the strip mall, and easy to get in and out. Just walk up to the counter and place your order. Find a table and theyll do the rest. Try the coleslaw - it has a nice surprise inside. God bless this business.
