This is our hangout place every Friday after work to start the weekend. We sit at the first come first serve area next to the live music and bar area. This is the area where you dont jump into the routine of ordering your drinks, appetizer, entree, dessert and out the door in 45 minutes. I recommend taking your time and ordering your first round of drinks while you nibble on the toasted garlic bread slices that they serve. They usually also bring to the table an assortment of sauces. Our favorite to put on the bread is the spicy onion-jalapeño topping. For drinks they have a full bar and also available is a Nicaraguan beer called Toña. I recommend Flor de Caña 18yr which is a popular Nicaraguan rum. When you are ready for your second round of drinks, order the sampler appetizer. It has small rolled tacos with a white creamy sauce... reminds me of sour cream. It also brings short ribs, tortillas with bean paste, Nicaraguan style cole slaw, fried cheese, plantain chips, pork chunks, pork rinds and I think Im missing something else. After that you really need to wait before ordering because you might be to full for your entree but get ready because it gets even better. If you like fish then Id recommend the Tipitapa Whole fried Fish. Its not your typical fried fish where you are already thinking about how are you going avoid all those spiny bones. Dont worry because this fish is served whole with no bones. Amazing Steak lovers have the option of the famous Churrasco (skirt steak) but I prefer the Carne asada which is less greasy. All entrees come with unlimited amounts of Gallo pinto rice, plantain chips and sweet fried plantains. Dont forget to try the tres leche dessert.

What a rip off...I called and tried to do my daughters baptism luncheon at the bird road location. When i called i advised them that i had less than the 30 adults they require. The lady on the phone told me that would not be a problem to just come by and talk to a manager. Well the manager was extremely rude and flat out told us that we would not qualify to any of the plans because we did not have enough adults. Then they require $100 non-refundable deposit to reserve the area. Plus to bring our cake would cost me $1.00 more per person. Called Havana Harrys. Not only did I qualify for the party plan options. I recieved a $2.00 discount per guest because I am bringing my own desert. Word to the wise...avoid El Novillo as much as possible.

Weve had lunch here several times and the food had always been great. Decided to have an event here. Wow! I can write a long complaint but just words of advice... don’t spend your money here for a large party. We booked a month in advance And they were not ready for us. Manager on duty and the girl behind the bar (8-23) have No respect, no willingness to help, have very bad attitudes, unorganized, unprofessional. Dont care! Owners really need to look at who they have running their business... Probably losing a lot of money because of poor staff training.... Food might be great but, if your service is bad and you have negative people working there you might as well close your doors!

This place is just not worth it. I ordered the Novillo Punch and it was awful. It tasted like Bacardi 151 with a dash of fruit punch. The "El Novillo" Cocktail is on the website menu but not on the actual menu in the restaurant, so I ordered the ceviche and the sauce was too much; it tasted like a jar sauce from the grocery store. The Beans Ollita were clearly old and the fried cheese was like chewing rubber. It was not fresh, at all. Lastly, the Tres Leches cake tasted like something purchased at WalMart. And considering the price, there is no value here. Wal-Mart food at Nobu prices. The food is edible, but its not good. This place is simply not worth it.

The fact that this restaurant doesnt have five stars is pathetic! This is THE BEST RESTAURANT IN MIAMI! My father and I went there every weekend for months until we needed a break. Nw we go once a month or so, but honestly the food is the best in Miami and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are in one of the Epcot worlds...well, I suppose it would be Nicaragua, lol. As I write this, I am sitting in my car waiting for my father to meet me for dinner. Btw, we are as white american as you get so you dont have to be Spanish to love this place.

I use to dine here all the time. I even had an office lunch event here a few years ago. I went back for dinner with my fiancee. Unfortunetly, the place has down graded their meats. The gallo pinto and maduros tasted like dirty dish water. I do not recommend this place. Its truly a shame because the ambiance is good and the service is fantastic but the quality of the food is horrible. I hope they can turn this place around. If you want a good steak go to Los Ranchos and if your willing to drive to the beach go to Prime 112 they are the best!

I have been to this restaurant several times and the food is excellent. I have always recommended it to my real estate partners and clients but today I had the worst service experience !! the waiter that served us had the worst attitude and served the food without even asking us how we want it !! I did speak to the worker in the front about the situation. They should be aware about the kind of service some waiters are providing. Truly is a shame, because the food is excellent.

Excellent food and experience for my first foray into Nicaraguan food. The plantains and gallo pinto were excellent. Our waiter was friendly, but oddly gave us a cold look and lost his friendly demeanor when we asked to split the check (two people total). He ended up giving us one check and would not give us two checks. Im not sure if that was a language barrier or he just did not want to do it. Still though, great food and a place that I will visit again.

Beautiful surrounding,,, the service was excellent however the food was not pleasant and whoever the cooj was,,he/she did not know how to cook in Nicaraguan Style... I spoke to the manager Im here short me next time it would be better but there was a next time and it was not better at all.. for the price I wanted the food to be pleasant at least for my lady because I eat when I get hungry and thats the bottom line.. I do not know if I want to go back.

Ordered a baby churrasco to go. I say is less than a baby, tinny little piece of meat, but you get enough of the rest to fill you, rice, plantains etc. I wish that churrasco had more taste, its just regular, not bad but regular. I will never come back to this restaurant, its pricey and not a restaurant to repeat. Id rather go to Longhorn and get a tasty renegade for less than what I paid at el novillo.

Food is usually good here, but today I ordered a medium well churrasco and they overcooked it to the point that it looked burned from the outside. I still attempted to eat it, but I could chew it. Someone else in my table ordered medium well and he got a raw meal. They must have gotten a new cook. Waiter seem new and inexperience. All in all Terrible experience.
