UNCARING and CONFUSED. I was getting ready to take my Female Yellow Labrador (Dog) out on the Lake for the day. The Gator didnt look very busy and they had outside seating around the literal shack. So I thought they would appreciate my business but I was incorrect. I went inside alone and asked if there was anywhere I could sit with my dog. The gentleman said outside "Sure". I said great and he showed me outside, took my drink order and then brought my Sweet Ice Tea out to me. All was great until the Waitress came into the picture. There was nobody else outside and my dog is very well behaved and has eaten in MANY outdoor seating areas USUALLY in laid back fun areas which apparently this is not. The waitress immediately said I had to put my dog on a leash even though there was nobody else anywhere outside by us and my dog was right next to me except when someone went down to pet her in which case she stood up and licked them. The BEST PART is that I had not yet ordered my $22 Alligator Lunch. They did have a $12 Alligator Appetizer I should admit. So the waitress charged me for my One Glass of Ice Tea and we left to try and enjoy our Saturday the way I had pictured it. The world has enough rules and laws without some shack in the middle of nowhere having rules that are stricter than City Restaurants I have been in.

One of our favorite places! Its definitely in the country, but that adds to its appeal for us. We ride our motorcycles out on the weekends and hang out waterside on the picnic tables for the afternoon, watching the boats come in and soaking up the laid-back atmosphere. The food is good, the service is great, and theres live music in the afternoons in the outside, screened patio area. Warning - its a down-home, casual, country place. If youre looking for a sports bar or an upscale dining experience, the Jolly Gators not for you. If youre more comfortable in jeans and boots, or cutoffs and a bathing suit and want cold beer, fried catfish-style food, and friendly service, then youll love it!

Easy and relaxing atmosphere, watch the airboats blow by and land at the nearby county boatramp while you dine. Indoor, outdoor, and screened porch options, plus jukebox, karaoke, and live entertainment make "Jollies" perfect for a relaxed and entertaining evening for good food and fun. Watch the St. Johns River closely and you might see the jolly gators swimming around looking for their dinner. Yours will be yummy in your tummy. Family friendly serving beer and wine.

My mother and I happened upon Jolly Gator on the way to Sanford to take the auto train, and were we thrilled we did! It is definitely off the beaten path, in a beautiful, pristine setting on the St. Johns River, and the food and servers were excellent. We had Florida Cabbage and grilled gator bites that were to die for. We hope to return an be able to take a water tour on the airboat when we are next in the area. Worth going out of your way for.

Wow! Now I see why everyone rated this place so highly. Everything was great and homemade! They have some kind of golden sauce they served on the side with the homemade potato chips. It was delicious! I ended up dipping my fried shrimp and homemade french fries in it! Great stuff! Nice motorcycle ride out here. We will be back.

We love kayaking the Econ river and ending up at the Jolly Gator. Sweet as possible staff, ice cold beer, and pretty good food. I might be biased because after a long day of paddling everything tastes good. We also enjoy talking it up with all the regulars. Highly recommend stopping in and slowing down!

Me and my family stopped in and the waitress was very friendly. A very relaxed place for familys to eat. I tried gator two times at different restaurants and hated it but tried my daughters gator bites from here and they were delicious. Deff worth five stars.

I wanted to take my employees to a nice "local" seafood restaurant. The food was terrible and over cooked. Not to mention everything on the menu is farm raised. The quality of the fish and clams were terrible you can taste the chemicals! We wont be back!

Our air boat guide, Seth (who was awesome) suggested this spot. The food was great. Blackened gator and swamp soup were big hits. The sweet bread balls were great too. Nice live music with local flavor. Friendly service. Good stuff all around.

Old Florida good. Best grilled gator tail weve had in a long time. Great food, beautiful spot. I like to bring a stogie and watch the river after we eat. Its next to a boat/airboat launch so be prepared for a little noise from time to time.

Great view of real Florida. Good food and nice staff. I was out there for jet skiing. Not sure it would be worth a long drive just for a meal.
