Oudom Thai is a very disappointing restaurant. After reading the reviews I expected good food and service but I was not happy with this place. My friends and I were seated right away at a table in the back of the small restaurant. After about 10 minutes a waitress comes over to take our drink order. Then returns with the drinks and takes our dinner order. She was very confused during the order and when I tried to clarify that I was sharing an order with my friend she interrupted and said “he already told me that”. This was just the beginning of our problems. The restaurant had about 6 waitresses, which should’ve been plenty for its size but it was not. She never came over to our table and after over a half hour of waiting for our food we had to ask another waitress to check on it for us. We didn’t end up getting our food for close to an hour and instead of apologizing for the delay our waitress told us it was because of a larger group. As soon as I saw the plate of Pad Thai my friend and I ordered I knew it wasn’t good. The noodles were burnt and barely warm at all. My friend got our waitresses attention and told her it was not good and we wanted to send it back. She took the food and then tried to give the spoon from the plate back to us. When my friend said he didn’t want the spoon back she turned around and said “you are being rude!” Maybe it’s just my opinion but a waitress should never ever call a customer rude. After this we decided we wanted to leave. Our waitress sent another waitress over, not a manager, who inquired about what was going on. We began to tell her what happened and she proceeded to call me “rude” when I had said very little to her. Finally we got up and left as they were beginning to yell at us and act like we were the problem. As we were leaving we saw them bringing out a new plate of Pad Thai…interesting how it only took five minutes for the second one to come out. It is amazing how many people eat in this place considering the bad service and lack of professionalism. I am not one to write many reviews, but I had to let people know about this before they get stuck in a similar situation. I do not recommend dining at Oudom Thai.

The food is delicious but the service is horrid. Took a long break last year because of the half hearted service for takeout. I took a 7-8 month break, but have had a few good visits since. But today it happened again. I took a minute to call at 6:30p. I was on hold for 7 minutes before I placed a small order and asked that it be ready by 7:30p. I told the woman who answered that I would prefer that it be ready early. Id rather it sit there for 10 minutes than wait. She said it would be ready. I arrived exactly at 7:30, had my card out, and asked for my order. She said she just had to go in the back and get it. She disappeared. I asked a man where she was and he said "packaging your food up." After over 10 minutes she brought out part of my order and said it would be just a little while longer, pointed to the sushi chef, and said that he just had to make the rolls. I handed the box back to her and told her it was not acceptable and I was leaving. On my way out the sushi chef said "probably she didnt know you were coming." I asked for the manager and he put his arm over his eyes and said "maam, Im so sorry." I told him that I was done with his restaurant and being treated poorly. I told him that I was a nurse who had been on the floor since 0630 in the morning and I didnt expect to stand for another 20-30 minutes (past experience) waiting for my food which Id ordered an hour early. Again he said "Im sorry" but offered no solution. Im disappointed to have received poor service again. Id hoped it was just a blip and it was all fixed, but nope. Oudoms Thai: where you order sushi roll, but stand in line for 20 minutes and only receive an eye roll.

My friend and I have been here once a month for three months for lunch. The food has been great every time. Unfortunately, either there needs to be more servers at lunch or the servers they have need more training. This last visit we were seated right away, but it took 15 minutes just for someone to come and take our drink order then about another fifteen minutes for the server to take our order. Then we waited 20 minutes for the salads. I asked the girl who seated us three times for our salad and she just pointed to the counter and said they were up there. Finally, five minutes later they were brought to our table. I had asked for the spice tray when I ordered. After the meal was served I asked again. I noticed our server up by the counter so I mouthed it again and she came and checked with the two tables behind us and came back and said they are all being used. After about two or three minutes I finally asked the people at the table next to us for theirs as they werent using them. The server only came back to check on us once after hearing me complain and all she did was tapped her fingers on our table as she walked by asking us if everything was okay. We never had refills on drinks or even asked if we wanted one. We are now going to check out Port Orange to see what they have as all of the times we have been to this place the service has gotten worse every time. I really dont like posting negative reviews but this was just over the top. The food is great, though.

So rude, called for take out for myself and coworkers. A man answered and then asked if I would hold. I said I would, was on hold for 8 min. Placed the order the guy at first wasnt going to ask who the order was for so I said the person name would be picking it up. The man told me 30 min. 30 min came and a coworker went to get it. Got there and it wasnt ready so she walked around and came back. When she did she was told that they gave her food to someone else. We called and asked to speak to a manager. When the manager answer he said we are really busy i have to go. Good thing Deland now has the twisted chopstick to go there for now on.

Fresh sushi, great Thai. Humble little hole in the wall. Just look for the little door next to Firehouse Subs in downtown DeLand. Not cheap but the price is definitely worth it. Expect to pay 10 to 15 for lunch per person and 15 or more per person for dinner. Its easy to spend a lot on the sushi but is so delicious and fresh. The Crouching Tiger roll is a must. Definitely all of my friends favorites. Havent met anyone that didnt like it. A sirloin steak sushi roll, nuff said. I have to mention the Deland roll and the Stetson roll as well. This gem is my go to around Deland.
