I happened upon this delightful Peruvian restaurant recently while on a pleasant walk from the Bridge of Lions to the St. Augustine Lighthouse. My fiance and I immediately yearned for the taste of authentic ceviche after experiencing dissapointment from a nearby fine dining restaurant (lesson learned). Our perseverance was more than rewarded when we arrived for our reservation later that evening. Note: DO make reservations or you may risk eating elsewhere. The small but quaint room was completely filled when we arrived. Dish presentation and the overall atmosphere were as pleasing to the senses as the food was fresh, authentic, and delectable. I see that the majority of moderate-to-poor reviews tend to reflect experiences that are incongruous with expectations so I would encourage those who are new to Peruvian cuisine to, first, research popular dishes from Peru/Lima as well as their cultural influences and, second, examine the menu before your visit. It is available online and there is no reason to disregard the asterisks which indicate uncooked seafood. Furthermore, I would not let anyone convince me that portion size was inappropriate. Many restaurants shovel too much food on the plates of their partons. This contributes to food waste/obesity. It is unfortunate that many have become accustomed to this practice and accept it as the standard. I can happily report that our stomachs and our spirits left very content for the remainder of the evening. If you are familiar with Peruvian cuisine or are open to try something new and exotic then I can not imagine that you will be disappointed.

In A Nutshell: -Llama Restaurant is a fabulous spot to eat beautiful Peruvian food. -We found out about this place from a family friend who has a local radio show & lives in Saint Augustine (the oldest American city). -One thing for sure is that our friend has great taste picking Llamas! -The decor is very simple, yet detailed, very cozy. -The Chilean Carmenere red wine was so good we ordered a couple bottles. Im hooked. -The ceviche appetizer was creatively presented & even better mixed/served in the lime juice. -The last time I ate this type of ceviche (Corvina Fish) was in Panama a few months ago. #Delish -The beef heart skewers called, Anticuchos were to die for! -I ordered the Lomo, which is hangar steak sauteed w/ veggies. -The Paiche was a tender plaintain leaf-wrapped Amazonian Arapaima filet served w/ a passionfruit sauce, Peruvian peppers, palm hearts, yucca fries & grilled plaintains. -The Mar y Tierra aka surf & turf was also pretty good. -Lastly, the creamy custard & spun sugar dessert was awesome to look at and even better to taste. Overall, I really enjoyed the ambience, the detailed/clean bathrooms & especially the roasted corn nuts! Had to get some to go.

I went here yesterday with a friend of mine who was visiting from Lima. Honestly, I have to say that the food is okay, however, the portions are incredibly small and the prices are way too high for what theyre actually serving you. I was in London a few days ago and I also had a meal there in a Peruvian restaurant. So, Ill be posting two photos for comparison. The same Lomo Saltado that I got in London was for $17, yet the one that I got here in St. Augustine for $18 was much smaller than I anticipated. Also, the ceviche that my friend got was quite disappointing. It was $24 for a tiny plate and he was quite upset over the taste of it and the decoration. He said, "It doesnt feel like a Peruvian made the dish." Overall, Id say this place is decent, but definitely nothing out of the ordinary. Also, itd be nice if they expanded their menu and added a vegetarian side for people that dont eat meat.

We loved everything about this place. The food, the chicha, the service, the decor, the presentation of the food, even the bags for our leftovers were all wonderful. It is a very small, cozy space. So I highly recommend making a reservation. We managed to get in without a reservation because we were quite early for dinner. But it was a Wednesday night and all the other tables were booked. We had the Papas for starter , the Lomo and the Mar & Tierra for entrees , and the alfajores with French press Peruvian coffee for dessert. Everything was fantastic and beautifully presented. We will certainly come back whenever were in the area, and we will highly recommend it to anyone we can.

Ambience very peruvian, clean, nice temp. Beer selection local, peruvian (cristal, cusquena), colombian and more. Selected menu with typical peruvian food. I had the lomo saltado, with tasty sauce fresh high quality steak, i had the Green tea pie, with up to the point sweet taste. And the passion fruit tres leche was the killer, WOW. Marcel owner and chef, really knowledgeable in his cusine science. Ill definitely come back and bring other friends.

Hands down the best restaurant in town. Llama is a refreshing departure from all the pasta, pizza and the southern-inspired menus all over town. The dishes are exotic and so uniquely flavored. The ceviche is fantastic as well as the Paiche dish. There also plenty of tasty appetizers and drinks. If you dont love the food here take a good look in the mirror and ask yourself, "what is wrong with me?!"

The best meal Ive had in the region recently, comprised largely of flavors and ingredients that were both new to me and entirely unique to the area. Gorgeous and really creative platings too! A really lovely, intimate space and a wonderfully warm staff rounded out what was, for us, a pretty perfect dining experience. The restaurant is extremely small, so reservations are probably a must.

Im from Peru. My boyfriend is white, he went to buy ceviche from there( la llama) because a friend of him told him that it was the best Peruvian restaurant in the area. Well to be honest the ceviche was horrible, the cancha was uncooked I almost broke my teeth.. The alfajores werent that great either. Worst ceviche Ive ever eating in my life. The ceviche I make at home is 100 times better.

Lovely cozy little dinner spot. Everything on the menu looked really good. The toasted corn nuts were a fantastic surprise and went well with a cold local Porter on tap! Our Dinner was fantastic and the service was exceptional! May need a reservation... We just showed up but were able to grab a Bar seat which is our preference anyway so it worked out well!

Authentic Peruvian food. Everything was fantastic. We had the Octopus, the ceviche, and beef hearts as appetizers, Lomo for our entree and Tres Leches and the Peruvian ice cream for dessert. Cozy and stylish little restaurant with great service and great food. Well worth the drive from Daytona. A++

Drove all the way from Jacksonville to eat here. I didnt see anywhere on the website that says you need to make a reservation before hand. They were booked all night and I had to eat elsewhere. So, make sure you call ahead if youre from out of town. Small restaurant, limited seating.

I absolutely loved everything and although it was a bit pricey it was definetally worth it. Being a fat man I usually scarf down my food but this Llamas actually made me savor my food and take my time to enjoy it which is an experience that I rarely ever feel.

Great addition to the St. Augustine dining scene. My first time at a restaurant serving Peruvian food and thoroughly enjoyed it. Ceviche and Pulpo were outstanding. Nice wine list. Excellent service.
