The waitress was very rude (Her name is Vanessa V) she actually made a mean face when I told her I was seating outside. The bus boy came and brought me chips and water but she took 20 minutes to come to my table for the first time, when she came she did not even said hello, she asked me right away if I was ready to order, she did not even asked me if I wanted to drink something besides the water that the busboy brought me 20 minutes earlier. I had to tell her that I did not had a menu, so she made a mean face again and brought me a menu with a very bad attitude. I ordered my food and told her I wanted the steak on my tacos to be well done, when I got it the food the steak was rare. She never came back to ask me if my food was ok or If I needed something else, and 5 minutes after I got my food she brought me the check with out me asking for it, what about if I wanted coffee, or dessert? This not the first time, I was there 2 weeks a go and she had the same attitude towards me, that is why I am writing a review, thanks to this lady I am never coming to this place again, besides portions are really small for the price 3 tiny tacos with bloody steak and a little bit of guacamole for $20 during lunch time and with really bad service! What a joke! By the way I seat outside because I seated inside one time and got out smelling like grease.

Been here multiple times in the past year. The decor and the place is very nice - Talavera is a type of pottery/plateware in use in the Puebla, Mexico area and so theres a lot of that in the restaurant. I am not always one to pay attention to this, however in this case its very standout and super tastefully done. The overall environment is really relaxing and pleasant. A great back to knock back 4 or 5 top shelf margaritas with friends and family. Really good, well executed Mexican dishes. Awesome drinks - Tamarind Margarita, Basil Margarita, Jalapeno Margarita, and others. Excellent tequila list. Great real Moles, Mexico City Street Tacos, Guacamole (no they dont make it at your table but who cares plus it comes with chicharron and tortilla chips), Queso Fundido, Huarache, Carne Asada, etc. Do your self a HUGE favor - next time you find yourself tempted to go to Rosa Mexicano (and that may never happen), go to Talavera instead - you will thank yourself as its vastly superior.

At Talavera I had the worse dinning experience in my entire life in restaurants. First the service was terrible. Jose was in a bad mood all the time. Never brought anything difference to our table. He acted like an order taker than a real waiter. Drinks? What drinks! Our glasses were empty most of the time. Food was OK. Talavera is not a real authentic Mexican restaurant. Or perhaps its but i decided to leave in a hurry fearing that Jose could hit us with his bad attitude. They used Oaxaca Cheese but Jose had not idea what kind of Oaxaca. To become a real waiter Jose you have to learn what ingredients your restaurant uses otherwise you are burn. Located in the heart of Coral Gables in Miami, FL Talavera is a restaurant I will never recommend to anyone unless you have to be mistreated. The decor and place is very nice and pictures even better. It looks like a nice museum Regards,

Horrible experience. I had to wait by the door for around 15 min for the hostess to come out, waitresses were passing by and they were seeing me standing there but no one asked me if a had been helped already, I actually tried to ask one of the waiters if I could seat and where to seat and he ignored me. When I finally got seated I had to wait a lot for the waiter to come, he was in a rush and not nice at all. The manager brought my check and he was not nice neither. Food is overpriced, $15 for just 3 enchiladas at lunchtime? They did not come with any sides, just the 3 enchiladas and chips. The shredded chicken was very dry and it did not have flavor or seasoning. I make better enchiladas! The WORST thing is the fact that I got back to work smelling like GREASE, so disgusting!!!!!! All my co-workers asked me if I was cooking, how embarrassing is that?

Talavera is a great place for drinks and appetizers--but Im honestly not a huge fan of their entree options. Ive found that their tacos are fairly bland and dry and lack a variety of flavors and textures. In the few times Ive ordered them, Ive had to add a lot of salsa to give the meat any real flavor. The enchiladas are pretty good and typically seasoned really well. If you love margaritas as much as I do, then youll probably just want to take a seat at the bar and order yourself an appetizer to munch on. They have a lot of interesting flavor combinations for their margaritas. The drinks are typically strong and their staff are always enthusiastic and welcoming.

I understand why people recommend this place so much: the place is very nice and very well located. I have lived in Mexico City all my life, and Talaveras food is not nearly good. They have good points: margaritas and the welcome totopos with salsa are good. I tried the tomato enchiladas and the sauce was terrible. It tasted as vinegar. An enchilada sauce with vinegar??? Weird. The tacos al pastor are greasy and the adobo have nothing to do with the original that should taste spicy and sweet at the same time. Food taste have nothing to do with real mexican food. I hate writing bad reviews but thats the true!

Fantastico! Great spot! The chemistry was sensational with a very nice mix of guests. The setting is terrific. As for service, we were looked after by the very capable Vanessa. Excellent hospitality! We enjoyed the guacamole. Outstanding! Their blue chips were excellent, too. Everything we ordered was great. Their margaritas are 5 stars, the tacos carnitas were off the charts, and their tortilla soup was phenomenal. All around, the menu (all that we ordered/tried) was simply outstanding. Looking forward to returning soon ...

I have not been to Talavera in years. Meal was edibly ok. I expected my corn tortillas to be larger than the size of my palm. I have pictures to prove it. I live like 3 minutes, but I rather travel for authenticity. For better authenticity mexican food at lower cost go to... El Taquito 1380 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135 Or visit (ONLY on Weekends) The mexican food stands at the Flea Market called the Redland Market Village at 24420 S Dixie Hwy, Homestead, FL 33032. Delicious! Sorry Talavera El Mexicano from Homestead.

I was not impressed at all. We ordered a bottle of wine and it took three tries to even find one bottle that they had in stock. The service was so slow! When we finally received our food, I asked for hot sauce, only to find that there was none. Not even one bottle of hot sauce in the whole restaurant ....really? In a Mexican restaurant??? I live in Coral Gables ...if you want my advice, just go down to Taco Rico on US-1. The food is better, only disadvantage is that Taco Rico doesnt serve liquor (i.e. tequila).
